This restaurant’s website says “100% gluten free”, but their food is prepared in a shared kitchen. It is NOT safe for people with celiac disease. It is part of a ghost kitchen community space.
This place is NOT dedicated GF. It operates out of a shared commercial kitchen along with many other delivery-only restaurants on ubereats. Be careful.
The food here is delicious and safe! This i my second time eating at Moonbowls. In the past I’ve had the spicy Korean Chicken Bowl and chia pudding. Tonight we had the gochujang cauliflower wings, spicy avocado bulgogi bowl, and meat lover’s bowl. All three were packed with flavor - I didn’t want to stop eating! GF and DF so it can be challenging to find safe and tasty food like this. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone who enjoys Asian cuisine!
had to be cross contaminated or just contained gluten. I got really sick after eating here once and thought maybe I had gotten something else contaminated from another establishment, so I gave this place another shot. I ate here with my friend (who has a less severe gluten intolerance than me Bc have Celiac and am extremely sensitive) and she also had an adverse reaction to her food. Maybe the kitchen is shared and the contamination is unavoidable however I felt as though I had eaten bread or something.
Was SO excited to get GF potstickers - although substantially different than traditional potstickers they were very tasty and satisfying. We also had the cauliflower buffalo 'wings' and the spicy beef bulgogi w/ impossible beef... both were very good and generally exceeded expectations. We will be back!
To call this a “Food Hall” is disingenuous. It’s a Door Dash Kitchen. Honestly, had I known I probably wouldn’t have eaten here.
That being said! Despite my concerns about the shared kitchen in back, and the staffs lack of willingness to answer my questions about cross contamination I ate my bulgogi bowl and had no issues!!
It did occur to me it took a very long time for my food to come out, and that could be because they were doing a cleaning/cross contamination protocol.
When all was said and done, the food was absolutely delicious and I had no gluten reaction! I wish I was in the city longer to get it again.
The GF fried chicken bowl was fresh and tasty! Do yourself a favor & get some food to go and find a picnic spot!
I've had moon bowl from the san jose location but couldn't test it with the elisa test kit. I was okay after eating it but did have a little but of bloating.
At the adeline food hall location i was able to test the food and the impossible burger bowl, the gochujung sauce, creamy sesame sauce and sesame vineagritte sauce all teated positive for gluten. Unfortunate. The fries tested negative and i was able to eat it.
My partner ate the food and it tasted good.
The "fuck gluten" restaurant at the same location is just moon bowl with a different name. So this review is for that restaurant as well.
I’ve ordered from here on-line and had it delivered to my office probably 4-5 times in the last few months of working in SF. I’ve never had any reaction to the food. Worst I can say is that depending on how long it takes to get delivered, it can be soggy. I’m not saying it’s gourmet or anything but it works for lunch at my desk and hasn’t made me sick.
