Excellent food and gluten free items come out on special dishes.
Separate GF menu. GF Filet was excellent. GF vegetable Indian curry was served without rice? but otherwise good. Portions however a little small for the higher price.
I asked the hostess about their GF menu and was given the usual warning about the possibility of cross contamination. The waitress was so knowledgeable and asked the chef about items not on the GF menu. I has shrimp creole and it was fabulous! I’ll be coming back soon!
This is our fifth trip to New Orleans and I have eaten at Muriel’s at least 15 times without a problem. They have a separate gluten free menu with several options available and their daily soup special is typically gluten free. Service is food knowledgeable and attentive regarding celiac and make you feel at ease. The roast chicken, shrimp with herbsaint cream, and the crime brûlée are favorites. Highly recommend.
Upon entering the restaurant I told the hostess I have celiacs disease. She politely informed me the kitchen staff wouldn’t be changing gloves or doing anything special. So far not looking good. I ordered the vegetable curry and a salad off the gluten free menu. They bring things out on special plates with a red ring to indicate gluten free so they do have a system in place. My salad arrived without croutons so that was a plus. However, upon returning from the bar later, my veggie curry was in a nice red ringed bowl, flanked by 3 pieces of garlic toast. WTF?? I took the curry bowl off the plate and my wife told the waitress I couldn’t have the bread so she yanked that away. I told the manager that the gf items should not come with gluten (bread) and he agreed. It’s too bad b/c I ate here last year and everyone was very cautious and seemed genuinely concerned about keeping things gf. Maybe management changed but this year was a lousy experience for me. It seems like gf is not a big concern for them anymore. I had an rsvp for the next night but I canceled that and won’t be going back.
Separate gluten free menu, and the food was the best I’ve had in the city so far! Very knowledgeable and accommodating staff, I’d definitely come back again.
Very good food! I got shrimp and grits, a favorite of mine. It was probably the best I’ve ever had. Separate menu, with about a dozen choices. Server seemed knowledgeable and reassured me that they knew how to keep a Celiac meal safe. My meal was served in a bowl with a pattern on it that indicated it was gluten free. Low anxiety about getting glutened here. Pretty pricey, though. We skipped dessert, so I can’t speak to the quality there. But, I did not get sick! Good place to sit and chat among all the craziness that surrounds the French Market!
Amazing food! Ate here twice once for dinner and once for lunch! No reactions:-) Must try the double cut pork chop with apple glaze for dinner and the beef tenderloin burger (no bun) for lunch. Both were out of this world!
Fantastic food. Great service. A lot of choices.
Muriel's is fantastic! We've eaten lunch there twice, in our short time in NOLA. Headed for a third time this evening for dinner. They've accommodated my wife's (gluten, soy, dairy, yeast, sugar/added sweetner) needs with blackened fish, both were amazing! Most certainly a good spot.
They were accommodating for my mom, who has celiac, and me, who is allergic to a lot of foods, including seafood!
Ate here after much research, everyone was very nice and helpful, about one mile from restaurant had a reaction, had to pull over, won’t be able to eat here again.
They have a separate gluten-free menu. The food was great and wait staff are friendly & understanding. Be prepared to spend some $$, though.
The shrimp and grits were delicious but the dessert was really disappointing.
This was recommended over and over but when we arrived the hostess was less than helpful and not interested in our business when we asked about GF. Didn't stay.
Delicious; celiac friendly! Pork chop was great and wait staff very knowledgeable about cc.
Yum! Great options, totally accommodating and knowledgable.
Fantastic food and great service
I will dine here every trip, as i did six years ago, when they were one of the few who had a GF menu. Love love love it!!!!! Had manchego salad, shrimp & grits, and flourless chocolate torte. Delicious, flawless service. Always happy to support restaurants that take allergies seriously.
One of the first restaurants in New Orleans to accommodate gluten free and celiac. They will not let you down! Separate gluten feee menu and careful with cross contamination. One of our best dinners in NOLA!
This restaurant is in a great location and the food is delicious. I had the pork chop with red beans and rice, which was a treat because all the other restaurants put flour in the red beans and rice. They had a gluten-free menu, which makes things easy.
I have celiac disease and, although I brought my own food during Mardi Gras, it wasn't very substantial so I wanted real food. Other reviewers recommended Muriel's so I risked it out of frustration for real food. Turns out, I did not get sick at all, and I'm super sensitive! One time I touched a friend's cell phone at my house, then ate a grape, and then had a celiac response. From her phone! So if I didn't get sick at Muriel's, they know what they are doing! And our server Heather was very nice about it, no attitude the way some do and was very conscientious of my options. Best creme brûlée ever!!! And my fish was fantastic. Wonderful restaurant. My companions all enjoyed their meals too. Pricy, but at least it was worth it!
Delicious!!! Had the honey child drink, shrimp and grits and creme brûlée. Amazing atmosphere and food, comfortable experience. Their shrimp and grits is made gluten free anyways which is awesome. I have celiac.
Gluten free menu had lots of yummy options. The blackened fish was the best tasting meal I have had in New Orleans. I have celiac and had no issues. Great, convenient location. We also had 2 waiters, but had excellent service.
Knowledgeable staff, awesome food, fantastic ambiance. The pork chops were fantastic!
Shrimp and grits were exceptional!!
Gluten free menu. Waiter said owner has family with Celiac and started providing GF dishes. Waiter said staff is aware of cross contamination and changes gloves, utensils, etc. GF orders on special plates. I had a prosciutto salad for lunch. Very good. Went back for dinner next day. Same great service. Ordered pork chop and flourless chocolate cake. Very tasty.
Gluten free menu and they will walk you through items on their menu which can be made gluten free. The staff was so confident in telling me what could be made gluten free, I worried at first. One of the dishes was a soup with pasta added in it. I was very skeptical and she went back to double checked. The pasta was added after the fact and could be left out. The food was delicious and no cross contamination.
Awesome!!!!! They have a gluten free menu and now serve brunch sat and Sunday . The food is fresh and delicious period!
Dedicated gluten free nenu, wait staff knew ingredients of all dishes, dessert menu and glorious food. Expensive side but worth it. Romantic, charming, low-key.
Delicious food and many GF options. Beautiful restaurant and great service.
I loved this restaurant! ! They had a separate gluten free menu and the food was so good. I went here twice while visiting. Muriel's salad was great and the pork chop also worth getting.
I enjoyed a wonderful meal here. I had the pork chop with sweet potatoes and greens. It has the New Orleans taste to it. I had made a reservation online and put in the comments I needed a gluten free meal for Celiac disease. When we got there I didn't even have to ask for a gluten green menu. They brought mine along with the others. The waitress was very eager to help me. And she also recommended the creme brûlée or the flourless chocolate cake. I chose the creme brûlée and it was great! We will go back the next time we go to New Orleans. I will tell you it's a little pricy but definitely worth it.
Impeccable service, a gluten free menu with many options and great tasting food
Fantastic food. The best filet mignon ever. Great service and beautiful atmosphere.
Wow! Dinner was excellent. although the famed shrimp and grits was not on the menu chef kindly made the accommodation and it was fantastic. Corn and crab soup and flour less chocolate cake were also amazing. highly recommend.
I have celiac and ordered the salad, Shrimp and Grits, and the creme brûlée. The salad was delicious, S&G's was outstanding, and the creme brûlée was good. I seriously wanted to lick my shrimp and grits plate clean because the sauce was so good! Highly recommend.
The pork chop was absolutely the best one I have ever had. So good! Helpful staff and the dessert was awesome as well!
Well informed, courteous staff!
I had the pork chop Phenomenal Highly recommend Made reservations Good food Actual chef
Great experience and excellent food. Separate menu with multiple options and knowledgeable staff. I enjoyed the shrimp creole with a salad to start. Great, rich flavor. All around wonderful meal in a great environment.
thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Muriel's ...very knowledgeable staff get food for those with celiac.
Great place for GF. Separate menu, great and knowledgable staff. 4 GF entrees, appetizers, salads, and sweets! The regular menu is small too. Was here a few years back and glad I returned! The chef changes up the menu so it's not always the same thing.
Muriels is celiac friendly. They have a gluten free menu. (I am always skeptical of gluten free menus because I don't trust them). The slightest gluten will cause me problems. I ordered the gulf fish entree and creme brûlée for dessert and had no issues after eating dinner. The dinner was AMAZING and truly gluten free. Hats off to Muriels!! I will go back! CELIAC FRIENDLY and TRULY gluten free for us celiacs! Yay :)
They have a gluten free menu and they are very helpful. The menu is not super extensive or exciting (meaning there's not anything that you wouldn't normally expect to be gluten free), but everything I've had here has been amazing, just really good food all around. Some days they have great gluten free soups and the fish is incredible. Jazz brunch on Sundays is really fun, too.
Separate gf menu with a good amount of options! Food was delish! Also worked around dairy allergy with no problems.
Clueless should be taken off site
I went home feeling sick. The server was completely clueless and I think they put vinegar dressing on my salad. I got the duck and sweet potato entree that wasn't good at all and the Brussel sprouts were burnt tasting. I'm really not a picky person and am very tolerant but since I went home feeling really sick after eating there, I would not recommend it for someone who has celiac disease or an actual intolerance to gluten. If you are GF just to diet then you'll be fine eating contaminated food.
Excellent choice for a nice meal near Jackson Square. Separate GF menu has several choices and the waitstaff were well informed.
GF menu was delicious. It was limited, but beautifully executed. Worth the price.
