We chose to visit Nine Fine Irishmen due to the positive reviews. I was, however, less than impressed. There is a separate gluten free menu with a few choices, but our waiter was dismissive about the questions I asked and refused to check with the kitchen about preparation procedures. I typically ask to see what the safest option is (especially while traveling because nobody wants to get glutened with a plane flight coming up) and the waiter told me that anything on the menu was safe if I didn’t “think about it.” My husband and I were dining with his parents, so I ended up “making it work” instead of leaving. I got the Shepherds Pie (really a cottage pie as it’s made with ground beef). It was mediocre at best-I’ve made “lazy” cottage pie at home using frozen vegetables in a pinch and that was better than what I was served. There was also no indication that the kitchen took any precautions (my mother in law ordered the same thing and the waiter gave each of us a bowl with no indication he’d marked down anything for mine). I absolutely wouldn’t return or recommend this for the “gluten free experience”.
