It's a relief to go here, though you pay a bit more, that's no surprise. Every been several times and have always been served by the chef or very particularly by a lead server. More recently they offer a roll, which I appreciate. Pasta is great, salmon was good (a bit of an odd combo - squash, pesto, salmon), burger (yum), tried their carrot cake - they didn't let this thaw properly, it was 'ok' - a bit to sugary like some GF stuff tends to be. I don't recall getting sick, but I did have a rough morning after my most recent visit, can't be sure it was NYAJ's. I'll definitely be back there.
SO YUMMY! Best bread for the table I've ever had. They even made me a gluten free dairy free lobster roll!!!!!!!!!! Also the sorbet was amazing. However I did feel kinda iffy the next day so I am not sure if this restaurant was the culprit or not (thats why it lost its 5th star)
Waitress was helpful, but food came from a teenage food runner, not the manager or my waitress who I think said "no soy included" and ran away. I had to flag down my waitress to make sure the kitchen got the gluten allergy. She did, but still no manager. Food was gross. Chicken was like rubber. This is the first time I've ever sent my food back in a restaurant and it was my birthday. I've been to other locations and had better luck, but I won't be returning here.
Many excellent GF options and the staff always understands "celiac" and "need to be very careful" and I did not have to belabor the point. LOL Had a giant family birthday party here back in January (i was visiting again) and 3 of us are GF. Ease in ordering, careful attention to prep....and good food. Love the Joe's. Wish I had one near me in NY.
They understand cross contamination here and do a great job with safe food prep. I had an impossible burger on a GF bun and didn’t get sick! I’d definitely eat here again.
I’ve gotten sick here so many times I just stopped coming. The manager kept apologizing and giving me free meals to make up for it, but my health just isn’t worth it. It may be OK to eat in, but my experience was with to go orders, and they consistently packed my food so it would be in the same bag as other, gluteny food (for my family), often under their food. This despite me always telling them to pack my items in a separate bag. Take-out is just too complicated for this restaurant, which in my time eating there never once explained packing rules to their host staff, and who ignored my pleas to protect the food I’d ordered from cross-contamination in the bag. The kitchen also made errors, like undercooking food (that I had to finish cooking at home). I live a half mile away, but after a year of fighting with them, I just can’t eat here anymore.
The server introduced themself and immediately asked if anyone at the table had food allergies, wrote them down, and asked any questions I had. I'm also dairy free, but they still brought out a gf roll and plain olive oil to dip (their usual oil dip has parmesan cheese in it). I had their jambalaya, which was huge and had amazing flavor! The manager brought my dish out separately from the others and verified gf/df before placing in front of me. An entire menu within their menu is dedicated to those with special diets. Can't speak highly enough of them!
This has been a mainstay for us until today. We had an awful experience here. They refused to accommodate our needs, as they only had a set brunch menu. Not only did they not accommodate us, they were rude and had little to no understanding of our gluten free needs. Sad to cross this off our go to list.
The staff was so careful when they found out we had celiac. Delicious rolls with olive oil. Loved my club sandwich. My daughter enjoyed her plain pasta with butter. The dessert was out of this world - the chocolate cake was like cheesecake consistency and fantastic! Happy to see GF beer on the menu, didn’t try it this time but will be back.
They are not quite like they used to be. In the past, the gluten free plates were a different color, the manager brought the food over and the servers were very aware of cross contamination. The last two times we have been the servers did not know what celiac was, th food was delivered together and the plates were the same. We asked numerous times to confirm it was gluten free and it was, but the care they used to take is now gone.
I used to love going to NYAJ. Have had a few poor experiences now, at least for this Warwick location. Burnt chicken. Over peppered spaghetti sauce. Over cooked gluten free noodles. And worst of all, their endless gluten free rolls are now small, dry and don’t have that fresh baked feel or taste. And to top it off, we had poor service. I won’t be going back nor recommending it again.
Plenty of Gf options, girlfriend with Celiac's had no problems and staff were very aware of the situation.
Delicious! Lots of choices! Even from the seasonal 'specials'! I c oi yld order a Lobster Roll if I wanted! Instead of feeling like a problem child due to my Celiac, I felt welcome! Combine that with deliciously made fresh food ... you have a true WINNER!!!
Have eaten here 5 times, most recently this week, and always had a fantastic food experience. I have a dairy allergy as well as gluten issues and am always pleased by the number of options, even a dessert! Make sure you ask for their gf bread too!
I’m not sure yet if it was safe but the quality of the food is definitely not worth the price. My son found a large piece of fatty chicken skin in his nachos and it went downhill from there.
My wife and I ate there two nights in a row while visiting the area. The food was very good, and the wait staff was awesome (Big shout out to Claudia!). They really get it regarding Celiac preparation and cross contamination. Highly recommend this place and wish they would open some up in the Phoenix area!
The jambalaya is BOMB but the last few times I had a sandwich, their buns were too small to hold the contents in. Still an excellent option with a great gluten free menu. Their gluten free bread served with olive oil and parmesan to dip is however amazing.
This restaurant offers lots of gluten free options including bread and pasta. The warm gluten free dinner roll was super soft and squishy, and the carrot cake was delicious and moist. Those two items are the best gluten free items I’ve ever had. You would never know that they were gluten free. Highly recommend this place.
I don’t think I got glutened but the food is not good here and I don’t feel good after eating here—not a full celiac reaction but definitely bloated, tired etc. It’s like a 1980s menu—chicken Parmesan etc. If I were eating a meal on a layover at an airport between two long flights I would be ok I guess with the meal I had just because I didn’t get glutened but I didn’t enjoy it. Also they delivered our entrees and totally forgot our apps until we asked. It’s basically just a restaurant for people who aren’t really into food. The waiter was nice though and they seem to be careful about cross contamination. This restaurant would probably work for older visiting relatives or kids.
All I can say is AMAZING. Just went in for burgers. The buns were a little dry like most gluten free, but the flavor is good. The burgers themselves were delicious as were the mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. My daughter got the kids meal gluten free mac and cheese which was to die for. Finished off with a piece of gf carrot cake. Our waitress was attentive, but not invasive. Manager brought my food to the table as I also have shellfish and dill allergies. I have never had this level of service outside of Disney World. Will be back, even if it is two hours from home.
Great service. I'm GF and DF. Manager came to the table because she has DF allergies too. There wasn't much for me in regard to menu items because of being DF, but from what I saw, everything GF looked good! Server and manager kept coming back to check up on me. Great job!
They have a gluten free menu. I am pretty new to this no gluten thing, only about 6 months in progress. And I'm not sure I have an issue with cross contamination at this point i haven't noticed an issue yet. This restaurant has a gluten free menu which gets me sooo excited now! Its actually a pretty wide variety of options too I didn't feel deprived at all! They brought me glute free bread too, i am not sure if its the same at all locations, but the warwick RI locations bread is bomb! I would recommend you try it for sure.
Absolutely wonderful meal last evening. The GF bread & dipping sauce was so good. Our waitress Jasmine was very helpful. I also have an issue with casein & the chef came out to offer me another side instead of the coleslaw. No reactions. 5 star in my book!
Great experience. Gluten free menu was delivered to the table with the regular menu. They had GF bread for the table that was awesome.
Absolutely fantastic!!!! HUGE GF menu including the most amazing carrot cake for dessert. I have not had carrot cake in 5 years and it's my favorite. I got the chicken piccata and it was delicious. I literally can't say enough. The waitess brought me warm GF bread with olive oil....and they are super clean and very nice!
This has always been an easy place for me to eat. The gluten free options are fairly extensive. I am also dairy free. That limits the options quite a bit, but there are still several options to choose. The gluten free rolls are very good. However, friend ordered the Jambalaya. Not a dish they should have on the menu...just because it was not Jambalaya!
One of my favorite restaurants. Their staff understands that people truly need gluten free. Their gf bread is amazing, and the carrot cake (which is always gf) is the best. It’s my husband’s favorite cake, and he hates carrot cake. I am never disappointed.
The staff was very friendly. I got the tomato basil soup which was nice and creamy with a lot of flavor. I also got the chicken quesadilla which had a good flavor but was so greasy that I had to use napkins to soak some of it up.
Staff was knowledgeable and confident when it came to allergens. I have a dairy allergy as well as being celiac and the wait staff and kitchen had no problem double checking ingredients for me. Definitely would eat here again without hesitation- had spaghetti squash bolognese with mushroom and their gf roll was perfection!!
The bread!! Amazing! It is so good and appreciated. My whole family loved it. I got the penne with seafood and lobster sauce. It was good but the pasta had the weird after taste. Carrot cake for desert was solid.
A perfect dining experience for me is good food, good price, gf dedicated menu, and the manager bringing my food to me with the verbal assurance that it's 100% GF! I got all of that here!
This place was great! Tons of options which made things so easy. I even got my own gf bread and dip so I could eat right along with everyone else. Had the turkey avocado blt and would definitely get it again.
The food was great here. The staff was very knowledgeable about gluten free eating. Would be nice if they had an independent fryer. Lots of gluten free choices. We really enjoyed the gf bread with oil dip.
