When we checked in with the host, they asked if we had any allergies, when I told them I had celiac they seemed to know instantly what I was talking about. After I was seated, I informed the waitress that I have celiac disease, and she acted like she knew what I was talking about and told me about the gluten free options. The options were either appetizers, salads, or way overpriced steaks/fish. I ordered the Catch of the Day, but when she came back to check on us later, she asked me, “You have a dairy allergy right?” I then explained to her, no I have celiac disease, and this morning up at the hotel restaurant I was told I had a gluten free meal and I got sick from it (my symptoms aren’t very severe but very uncomfortable, so I was able to continue my day). I explained that I was concerned (it’s in the same hotel, so similar practices) that it was not taken seriously and asked her to inform the chef of the seriousness. The food then came out and I ate it without a reaction, but I am annoyed that I had to lecture them for them to get it right.
