My mom wanted to eat here for Mother's Day, so I reluctantly agreed even after reading the bad reviews for GF dining. Thankfully, when we checked in at the host stand and I asked if they had a GF menu, the host told me he's celiac and we had a good discussion about severe gluten intolerance and celiac. He was able to tell me exactly what options were good to order and what not to order. Here's the lowdown:
Manhattan clam chowder (red) doesn't use flour and is safe. Don't get the Boston (white) clam chowder.
Any mesquite grilled or blackened fresh seafood on the specials menu is safe.
Don't get anything fried. They have a shared fryer.
If you get the mashed potatoes, which are okay, tell them not to put the crispy onions on top.
I ordered blackened halibut with a baked potato, butter, and chives, and the grilled vegetables and had no reaction. The food was expensive and tasted decent, but wasn't what I'd call amazing for the price. But it's good to know I can eat here. Yes, I told the server I had a gluten allergy. I honestly don't know if she told the kitchen, because there was almost no acknowledgement when I said it. Thankfully it turned out okay.
