Nothing says, "happy 40th birthday" like being the victim of cross contamination! 😭  We researched online prior to going out to eat at a restaurant in Shenandoah tonight.  Outback Steakhouse's website claims that it "is serious about gluten-free" so we decided to give it a go.  I was pleased to see so many items on their gluten free menu.  My husband and I split a gluten free Caesar salad as an appetizer since there were no other GF appetizers on the menu.  I ordered the Alice Springs Chicken and a fully loaded baked potato.  I was very clear with the waiter that I needed him to let the kitchen know that I have celiac disease and definitely needed a gluten free meal.  He assured me that he would and that Outback was serious about gluten free.  Along with dinner, I ordered a house margarita that I only took a few sips of because the flavor wasn't as good as my favorite one elsewhere but I didn't complain.  Instead, I ordered an Angry Orchard to go with my meal. I only drank half of it because it tasted like beer.  I also only ate half of my meal because I started feeling nauseous and bloated before I could finish it.  We promptly paid and left the restaurant.  An hour later, I look like I'm 6-7 months pregnant and am absolutely miserable!  I contacted the restaurant and spoke to a manager named Kelly.  She apologized profusely stating that her roommate also had celiac disease, could sympathize, and offered to comp my meal.  I told her that I appreciated the gesture, but wanted her to know that I felt obligated to let others in the GF Foodies Facebook group and on the Find Me Gluten Free app know about my negative experience tonight.  As promised, here's my review of the Outback Steakhouse on the feeder of I45 in Shenandoah; buyer beware!
