My son has Celiacs disease, and we stopped here on the way to LA. He had the bbq chicken and it was definitely gluten free. They were very honest and understanding. Gluten free menu is nice size.
Went there while on a road trip. Was not offered GF menu even after I told them that I had celiac and needed gluten free meal. Waiter made appropriate suggestions and seemed somewhat knowledgeable. Suggested no seasoning on green beans and meat on wood fired grill. I asked for my baked potato to not be cut open and for butter to be from an unused container. The steak came out essentially rare and had to be sent back, the potato came out cut and had to be sent back for a new one and the condiments came out with all of the fixings for the backed potato so I just ate the backed potato plain. At the end of the meal, the waiter told me that they had a gluten free menu that I could look at for desert. I wish that he would have told me that they had the menu at the beginning of the meal. I say that they are celiac friendly because they did seem somewhat knowledgeable but I would bet that it is hit or miss here from my experience so I would use extra caution.
I have a newly found love for outback! not only is their steak and sweet potato with butter and brown sugar DELICIOUS, but they are very careful about ensuring gf. my meal was brought out with the bourbon glaze on top of my steak, which was NOT gf, but the manager immediately cane out and apologized and had a whole new plate made for me. while I was starving when my friends enjoyed their dinner, the manager and waitress were very apologetic and helpful.
We LOVE eating gluten free at Outback. We typically order the "chocolate thunder from down under" brownie dessert for our appetizer because it is so incredible. They have a great gluten free menu and we've never had an issue with cross contamination in the 10+ times we've eaten there. (My wife has celiacs and is very sensitive) we usually get the Alice springs chicken and a simple sirloin and share them both. Ooh and the Caesar salad is great too. (Without croutons)
My husband has Celiac. we ear at th u still Outback when we come to Charleston. as long as he doesn't eat the salad, he does not get sick, so he gets an extra side instead of the salad. I don't know what the problem is with salad, but I would not recommend it
Best GF experience yet. I have celiac with high sensitivity. They had a separate GF menu with dessert! And I didn't get sick after eating here.
Outstanding service and great food!
I was excited to see Outback had Gluten Free menu. I explained my severe gluten allergy to the waitress and ordered a Cesar salad. It looked great and as I ate half of it. Then I saw several croutons on the bottom of the salad!! These are gluten containing croutons. It's my impression that there could have been croutons on top of the salad but that they were picked off but forgot about the ones already mixed in. I do not recommend going to this Outback if you have Celiac or any other gluten related ailments.
We had a wonderful meal from the gluten free menu. There were plenty of options. The staff were helpful and we were told the kitchen is well trained and they have a lot of gluten free eating guests (I asked lots of questions). My 9 year old daughter who has Celiac loved her food and had no issues.
my daughter has celiac and could not say enough about this particular outback they understand the Cross Contamination especially it's great they have a decent amount of options just wished they had a dedicated fryer for French fries. I always need to bring my own for my 6 year old.
Diagnosed celiac disease and extremely gluten sensitive. Spoke with take out folks and they were wonderful, explained how food is cooked separately etc. Have eaten there twice and the food was terrific! Highly recommend for those gluten sensitive. Separate g free menu including very yummy dessert!!!
Love outback's GF menu. Our waiter checked with the manager after we told him we were ordering gluten free. Steak was good and the baked potatoes were ok. I usually get mashed potatoes, but at this location they were a little dry and bland. Overall it was a good meal though!
Very knowledgeable staff. Since I'm newly diagnosed with Celiac, I'm still learning about what to ask about in order to avoid cc. I was very impressed when my waitress asked if I also wanted my chicken wrapped in foil when being cooked on the grill. Food was also delicious.
They have an extensive GF menu, and while I've been in other Outback restaurants that knew how to handle GF orders, this one did NOT! Obviously they have not been trained properly. I told them up front that my order needed to be GF. Even so, I still always tell them no croutons for my salad. The salad came out with croutons. My steak came out with an announcement that it was lo-cal and when I asked if that meant that it was also GF, they didn't know. The waitress came back and said she checked and was okay because they didn't put butter on it! After calling on the manager and supposedly checking with the cook, I finally had a cold $24 steak that I was not confident that I could eat!
Outback had a really good deal going on so we went for dinner one evening. I was blown away by the fact that they had a dedicated Gluten Free menu so I didn't have to seek and find the little GF icon and the special that they had included the GF meal's. We also ordered the GF Brownie thingy and I kept asking the waiter if it really was GF...it was PHENOMENAL!!!!!
I decided to give it a try despite the bad reviews due to the recent good one. I got salmon with baked potato and a side salad. The food not only tasted bad but I got sick as well. Do not recommend. Only one of two outbacks that I have had problems with.
