Service was great! we love outback while traveling cause I know I won’t get sick! I told the server about me having celiac and told her I’m extremely sensitive and she made sure everything came out correct! Only reason for not giving 5 stars is because not everyone’s food at the table was correct and food did take a while to get to the table even though they were very slow. But I was thankful not to get sick. Would recommend to a Celiac any day!
We went last night with our toddler who has Celiac because of the other positive reviews. I notified the hostess and she gave us a special GF menu. Our server (Stephanie, I think) was also very accommodating and understanding. She even asked if we’d prefer not to have the bread come to the table. Our daughter had the blue cheese wedge salad, the ribeye steak, and the steamed broccoli (all off the GF menu). She had no reactions and thought it was delicious. And I agree because I shared with her :)
Outback is our tried and true, reasonably priced safe dining option while travelling. My partner is highly sensitive, so even slight cross contamination is an issue. He's had no trouble at this Panama City location after eating here a dozen times. It isn't a dedicated GF restaurant, so you have to take the usual precautions (notify waitstaff, don't touch the table or let your utensils sit on it, etc.) But they do a decent variety of GF food, including the pecan flour brownie in the chocolate thunder dessert. Ask for the gluten free menu at the host stand, but get a regular menu as well, since the GF menu doesn't include prices or some info (like steak cut sizes).
Even though they were very busy tonight, my waitress was friendly about my GF requests and questions. When I asked for butter and lemon slices she thought I said lemon butter and when she brought it out she informed me that it was not gluten free. Miscommunication but shows the gluten free knowledge. Also had the CTFDU dessert..unbelievably scrumptious!
When I went there I asked about the GF-Menu. I ordered a filet with mashed potatoes and broccoli that were on the list. The stuff asked me if I would like some bread and I said no I eat glutenfree. After eating my meal I had my usual symtoms which I have when I eat gluten, so this place is not safe for people with celiac deasese l!
I honestly should give one star but my waitress was “nice” but totally Uneducated when it came to GF. My family went to LEGOland and was exhausted afterwards so we trusted Outback as an option for dinner because it was conveniently located near our hotel and we trusted the chain. They presented me with a beautifully organized and separate GF menu BUT THEN kept messing up my order after I specifically told them I had a gluten allergy and was ordering off the GF menu that was given to me. My first salad came out with breaded chicken so I sent it back and then my second salad (attempt) came out with croutons!! Long story short....she told me I “shouldn’t expect the kitchen to know what gluten is” 🤷🏼♀️
Staff was very knowledgeable and assured me that precautions would be taken to prevent cross-contamination. I had grilled chicken and mashed potatoes and it tasted great! They were busy but managed to keep my meal safe!
Server not well trained on Gluten. Asked if I wanted bread. Then even after I ordered off the GF menu getting the Aussie Cob with chicken, he asked if I wanted the grilled or crispy chicken. Not exactly inspiring confidence. Looked ok, but this morning I’ve been cleaning out. Not 100% sure that was it, but celiacs be cautious. Have had the same meal at other Outback’s with no issues.
They are very aware about celiac and they even have a gluten free menu. They will make sure nothing gets contaminated. The Aussie Cobb Salad is usually what I get and it is soooooo good!! Make sure when you walk in you ask for the gluten free menu from the hostess.
So first of all, haven’t been to Outback Steak House in 10 years and I what I discovered in returning left me pleasantly surprised! My waitress was Jenn, she was super attentive and awesome at explaining everything. The gluten free menu is extensive and will leave any celiac quite happy. I had grilled chx breast with bbq sauce, a Caesar salad, ribs, and finally had the desert all with zero problems! I’m a very sensitive celiac and its been an hour since I ate with zero problems. I would recommend to any celiacs or even normal people.
They advertise gluten free menu, but have no follow through with cross contamination. We ordered dinner sakad, Ceasars salad, and after having a few bites found croutons crumbs. Plain coming sense doesn't go through the wait staff. I've been sick for over 24 hrs! Shame on you Outback Steakhouse, Burleson....
Great selection of steaks and chicken all gluten free. Chips are not Gluten free cooked in same fryer. But plenty of other options mash potatoes, salad, veggies and bakes potatoes. Great sauces which are Gf as well. Staff had great knowledge
Outback on Alpine continues to impress. Brought my food out separate from my wife’s. Had ribeye, baked potato with back, and broccoli. No butter on baked potato as requested. Thunder down under available if you can have dairy. Total confidence.
I’ve eaten here safely several times but thankfully know how to order safely, ask about ingredients and how they prepare the food. They do have a gf menu but will still bring bread to the table automatically even when you have the menus. I ALWAYS double check my food that they’ve given me the correct plate. It’s happened to me often enough that they try to give me the wrong food or a salad with croutons. They really need to work on training the staff & kitchen on celiac/allergen safety. Compared to other chains, they’ve a long way to go here.
I had to order delivery because I was worn out from riding from Erie, PA. The woman who took my order understood I have a gluten allergy-Celiac. When my order was delivered to the hotel there was bread wrapped in foil with the dressings for my potatoe. Unbelievable I have this to say. If Outback Steakhouse is going into business selling fat and grisle and ligaments as ribeye steak then I will not give you my money again. Or maybe because it was a delivery piece of meat/ligament/grisle the cook felt it acceptable. I ordered a medium cooked steak. See photos. See photos. Unacceptable to do this on a delivery. I don't know if I should eat the salad.
I eat here often because it’s one of the very few places I trust. They always acknowledge right away that I’m gf. They make me feel very comfortable and if I feel concerned about something they always fix it. I recommend Outback in general. They are very good with Gluten Free
I told the waitress I was GF, yet the salad came out with croutons on it. She replaced it but it seemed as though their training is lacking. Unrelated to being GF, about half of my pork was undercooked and inedible.
I’m in a gluten-free diet for a while and we decided to try Outback since they have a GF menu. The food was great but my salad came with croutons. I only remove them and not change the salad BUT I paid the price. Make sure to make them change whatever GF plate you asked for. Don’t take the risk.
There was a gluten free menu that had many choices. My food restrictions go way beyond gluten, and they were able to accommodate all of them. Manager was friendly and attentive, as were other staff members. Manager made my special salad herself. Would certainly return.
The staff went above and beyond to try and accommodate my GF needs. They placed foil on the grill to grill my chicken and everything. The downfall though was I ordered the Allison Chicken off the GF menu but the head chef plated me up bland chicken with melted cheese. No sauce, no bacon, no mushrooms. Reasoning was they contained gluten yet all that was listed on the GF menu. I did not get sick and I am grateful that the staff did what they could to keep me safe. But use caution when ordering from the GF menu as it might be outdated.
awesome people and awesome food! had knowledge about celiac disease and glutenfree food and great choices from their separate glutenfree menu. Also for kids there were multiple options and for dessert they count a kids price for our 4 year old son with celiac disease although it was a customized dessert in stead of a standard kids dessert. lovely staff too, highly recommend this place
Fantastic experience at Outback. I have been here multiple times. A manager will bring your food out to you and they have a whole set of procedures in place to keep food safe. The one time they weren’t 100 percent sure the protocol had been they remade my food. Highly recommended.
This location doesn’t have a lot on the menu that is gluten AND dairy free. I usually will go just to have ribs and a boring sweet potato with brown sugar. I have never gotten sick. It is good when you get bored with the only two other options in Fremont for GF and DF.
I have had mostly good experiences. I always test with my nina sensor and *almost* always my order comes back 100% safe. The main offender is the broccoli and cheese, it is on their GF menu as a premium side but has never tested safe. I usually get Alice Spring Chicken or the BBQ ribs and those have tested safe every time.
My salad arrived with croutons after ordering gf and asking for an allergy flag. Ate replacement salad and dinner. Was sick with 10 minutes after dinner. Outback is supposed to be trained in gf food prep- they blew it last night.
Manager assured us proper precautions are taken, and that the cross contamination disclaimer in the gluten free menu was for the restaurant chain in general. Speak to a manager at each Outback you dine at.
I was impressed with the selection of gluten free items at Outback, including gluten free croutons and dressing on their Caesar salad. Our waitress was sensitive to the fact that we had asked for a gluten free menu and expressed to us that all their gluten free menu items are carefully prepared. We will definitely be back!
