The Waukee location has employees who know how to handle gluten free and what items you can have. They change gloves, use a clean utensil and go down the entire line. The rice bowls with almost every choice of toppings is gluten free. So good!

I’m celiac. I let the girl working know that I was gluten free so she changed her gloves and everything. I didn’t even have to ask she understood food allergies because she is diabetic. However, my son used to work at a Pancheros and told me the chicken marinade has gluten. I looked it up and he was right, the steak is ok. In order to prevent cross contamination they need to be willing to change their gloves and it would also be great if they were required to use a utensil to scoop meat because I witnessed them touching dough and then putting that same gloved hand in the steak, they also had no clue that the chicken had gluten. So I ate it twice 😬

Awful service. Have been many times previously, with great experience. When we walked up, we asked the man to change his gloves, get a new rice, chicken, and utensils for both because we had a wheat allergy (actually celiacs, but people usually get that better). He said "excuse me?" So we repeated it. He said "seriously, are you kidding me?!" He muttered something under his breath. He then told his coworker to "deal with this", like we were a nuisance. As his coworker came over (who seemed quite nice, and shocked with this man's behavior), we said "excuse me!?", And he replied, word for word, "get your food and get out!" We replied "that was extremely disrespectful, we won't get our food, but we will in fact get out". we walked out. We were suprised, because pancheros has always been a great gluten free option for me, and have always accommodated to my needs. We did not catch this man's name, but he had a gray beard, rectangular glasses, and was almost completely bald.

I ate a rice bowl with beans, veggies, queso, and guacamole. I ate it with my own tortilla chips that I brought with me. It turned out well. I enjoyed it.

I went here during state softball with my team and was nervous to eat here but the manager or one of the employees was super helpful and took control. I got a bowl with rice, chicken, queso, guac, and salsa. But you do have to tell that that you have Celiac/GF and ask them to change their gloves and get fresh ingredients. If you tell them this, they should get spoons and can scoop the meat from the bottom of the pile to avoid recently touched meat. Then, they got the backup queso and fresh guac and salsa. It is a little more work and requests to eat here but it was delish and I didn’t notice any reaction.

I had a terrible reaction here. i got a chicken bowl (with extra chicken), rice, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. it said online that the chicken was Gf, but i also saw other reviews saying that the chicken is not. It must be the seasoning or marinated in something but i would not recommend to anyone avoiding gluten!
