I told my waiter that I have celiac. Luckily most items are gluten free and clearly marked. However, after I had eaten, I overheard the same waiter speaking to a member of the table next to me, “cross contamination is common because not all the ingredients can be guaranteed to be safe for celiacs.” I had some pretty significant stomach upset after eating here although not the body aches and headaches I normally get with gluten contamination.
I would have appreciated the waiter being more honest with me and not just the table next to me.
