Gluten free pancakes, toast, and bread. A good breakfast option if you're gluten free.
Knowledgeable about gf. Nothing from the griddle is safe due to cross contamination. My gf son ordered a sandwich. While the bread is small, it tasted good. Only 3 stars because they don't have a large gf selection. However, this place was a good stop considering the better reviewed gf places were closed (Wednesday).
I agree the gluten free pancakes are good but after ordering them the server informed my the maple syrup is not gluten free. They apparently 'make it in the back'!!! With what??? To the servers credit he did not charge me for the pancakes when I didn't eat them. There is kitchen cross contamination.
11/5/2017 Update: I have gotten sick after eating here despite being clear about my needs. Today I went again and when I told the server I needed gluten free and requested the grill be cleaned she could make no promises and said even if they cleaned the grill, they won't use separate utensils to make pancakes. She did not recommend I eat any cooked food but offered a fruit plate. It is very disappointing and not sure what the point is to offer gluten free when the prep and cooking isn't safe. My husband and I ate here when another restaurant was closed. They make no promises about being completely gluten free since they are a pancake restaurant. They will supply an ingredient list for their gluten free pancake batter and I decided to take a chance. I always, very politely, ask the waitress to request that the grill be cleaned before they cook my food. They were very accommodating and since it was evening and not busy I figured it was probably safe. The pancakes were delicious, looked like regular pancakes and I almost didn't believe they were gluten free. The portions are generous and my husband ate gluten free with me and said he liked them. I did not get sick or have a reaction. I probably wouldn't eat here on a busy weekend morning, just too much of a risk.
So happy so see that they have gluten free bread and pancakes. Of course not a dedicated gf area. I have had a cross contamination once out of ten times. I tell them ahead of time I need to be gf. Nothing is guaranteed and My son and are are not celiac.
Honestly expected a lot more from this place after all the good reviews. I had a dungeons crab omelet and there was still tendons in almost every bite of my omelet. Had the gluten free toast and the hash browns as well, definitely felt gluten affects after this meal. Won't eat here every again.
At breakfast here two mornings in a row. A busy Saturday morning, and an even busier Sunday morning. Ordered the gluten free pancakes as a substitution for the toast with my bacon and eggs one morning, and sausage and eggs the other. The pancakes are fantastic, couldn't believe they were gluten free. I get "glutened" often and easily when eating out, but not here. I was perfectly fine both days, in spite of the busy kitchen that many have expressed a fear of. And as I side note: the bacon is some of the best quality I have ever had in a restaurant. I was yummy too.
The service was excellent. The pancakes and toast are cooked on shares surfaces. I opted out and had an omelet with hashbrowns and felt fine. 3/5 for options. 5/5 for service.
I'm not highly sensitive so I can't speak to cross contamination, but these were by far the best GF pancakes I've had! My husband could tell the difference in taste between his and mine (mine looked exactly the same as the regular), but after 4 years of being GF they tasted "regular" to me! The blueberry with compote was fantastic!!
Wife and I both had GF pancakes with eggs combo. GF only $1 extra. Excellent taste. Add butter and syrup and you'd think it was the real deal!
delicious Gluten free blueberry pancakes! Homemade and amazingly scrumptious. Don't listen to the other negative Nancys.
Beware of cross-contamination issues here. Gluten free waffles and pancakes are cooked on same grill as regular ones. Scrambled eggs are cooked on the pancake grill.
Seaside not gluten friendly very limited and not nice about it
Not a gluten free place
I really liked this place. We had GF blueberry pancakes and they were delicious! Our waiter was very nice and friendly. We will be back!
Please note the GF pancakes and waffles contain dairy. You can order an omelet, but they have to special make it so it doesn't contain milk. Also, we found there GF toast to be greasy and not-so-great. Still a good breakfast, just hard to order if you are gluten and dairy free.
Very good. Tried the pecan pancakes one day and the blueberry waffle another. Both are wonderful. Very nice treat. Highly recomend.
Fantastic and delicious GF waffles and pancakes! GF toast also available
Technically they have GF options. I got pancakes, bacon and eggs. I found the pancakes to be terrible... not worth eating. They were flavorless, except a bitter flavor like too much baking soda in the recipe. And soggy in texture.
Good quality diner style breakfast, gluten free pancake (very good) and toast for meals, server didn’t bat an eyelid when ordering gluten free options. Items are listed as gluten reduced as I believe cross contamination is possible. Would come again!
After specifically asking if they could make their gluten free pancakes without cross contamination and being told they could, there was still gluten in my pancakes (and while my tongue could not taste it, my small intestine certainly could)
Our son, who is a celiac, ate here for breakfast 2 days in row. Had the pancakes with bacon and eggs. He did just fine and did not get sick. Staff was knowledgeable and helped make the experience great!
I see negative reviews so I thought I'd give my two cents. I decided my best bet was to arrive early (opens at six, we arrived at 7am) to avoid a busy restaurant and dirty griddles and honest mistakes made in the kitchen. I ordered the gf pancakes and some eggs and was told the griddle is cleaned prior to each order. I know I could still get hit but took the risk. Staff was very friendly and kept the coffee flowing. Food was delivered promptly and we never sat waiting around. The pancakes were some of the best I've had, and I live in the gluten free haven of Portland and consider myself a gf foodie. Now, considering this is diner food, my expectations weren't high. My kids wanted to eat here and they aren't gluten free. They were happy. And I didn't have a reaction! A good kitschy diner experience. Cute little gift shop, too.
If you are a highly sensitive Celiac DO NOT EAT HERE. The waitress, who was annoyed she had to serve us at all, said she would get them to cook my breakfast seperately. She did not do so. I was sick within 2 bites and was sick for the last 3 days of my vacation. If you are going south go to Newport to the Nye Beach cafe.
They have gluten free pancakes on the menu, but admit to plenty of cross contamination. How can it be GF if it's contaminated? I also avoid soy and their fry oil is soy. They offered to clean the grill for me. I hope they use the fat from my bacon to cook the rest of my food (Potato pancakes) The waitress almost convinced me to leave. Should have. Had cramps before I left.
Gf pancakes are made on same griddle as regular Ines. Gf bread is frozen with no was to thaw or toast that is safe. Hashbrowns are safe they are made in there own grill. Scrambled eggs and omlits have cross contamination risk but fried is OK.
Oh my, they do have GF pancakes and they are the closest I have had to tasting like regular pancakes from what I can remember before having to give up gluten. I asked for chocolate chips to be added and oh yes!!! Heaven, chocolate chip pancakes (also GF😊)
I am GF and I Ordered the Gluten reduced pancakes..( which I was told means Gluten Free) they were super good and tasted like regular pancakes. However if you are severely allergic to gluten this is not the place to order because of cross contamination..
Pretty much like a Denny's that offers "reduced gluten pancakes" which means gluten free I was told- except it is cooked on the same grill (they did offer to clean it so I gave them 2 stars for that only) so My husband Isnt celiac like me so I was too scared to try them but he did and said they were fine - strawberries were decent
Beware- cross contamination. We were warned of that from our extremely crabby waitress. We seem to get her every time in town. The pancakes are very good IMO. My son had a GF club sandwich and liked it.
Was happily surprised to find that they have gluten-free pancakes, which are quite light and fluffy! These are their own recipe according to the server. They also serve gf toast, which is store-bought, but nice to have as an option! Server was very helpful and knowledgeable. Turned what could have been a miserable "no" filled breakfast into a great family meal.
