Prior to my Celiac diagnosis, I loved going here. The GF pizza crust is nothing to get excited about. I’ve had far better at restaurants with much better GF protocols. Getting pizza, the first thing that I asked the server was if there was a separate station for prepping them. Nope. They’re all made on the same line from the same prep station. While I didn’t get terribly sick, my system is off today, so I can’t help but attribute it to a possible cross contact situation. I can’t recommend this place to anyone who is super sensitive and/or extra diligent about their gluten avoidance.
I went to PBE 8/12/19. After talking to the manager about protocols they have in place for GF orders I felt comfortable. He said gloves are changed, they make sure that they use pans to put the pizza on, and that the ingredients are in a separate area. I ordered a Cobb salad that was delicious.
Have been going here for years. They have some of the best salads in the area. Their GF pizza however is to be avoided. I get it occasionally, hoping it will be better each time. When they first came out with it, PBE was one of the few places with GF food and it was great to get anything that was GF but the reality is, their crust is not nearly as good as it could be today (in a world of many more GF options). We still go to PBE often and like it as a neighborhood restaurant but they are pricey and need to consider updating/cleaning up a bit for the prices. Not quite what it was 15-20 years ago.
I've got to agree with Sue - the GF pizza crust is rather atrocious (cardboard-ey even where it's well-cooked, and akin to paste when the center isn't cooked through) - it's the worst I've had in the 8 years I've been gluten-free. If it's a group of GF-only folks, I'd recommend grabbing frozen GF pizzas and spending $ to doctor them up.
That said, it's def. Celiac-friendly, the toppings are *delicious,* and the salad we had with the meal was so good, even my normally vegetable-averse stepdad was eager to claim his share.
If I knew of more GF pizza options in the area, I might bump this down to 3 stars, but a safe place to eat is something to be valued even if the quality on the signature dish is lacking.
We LOVE pizza by Elizabeth's! We go there on special occasions because the food is a little expensive, but it's one of my favorite places to eat!
Love PBE! My boyfriend and I love the buffalo chicken dip and have gotten it on many occasions. (It's a little spicy for me, and a large portion, so we usually have to order additional gf bread)...sometimes I even order a side of carrots to go with it. I have also had delicious salads and pizza here. They have a wide selection of pizza toppings available. Their sangria is also wonderful.
Servers were aloof to what is or is. It gluten free. I have visited several times and have been told that the salad dressing(s) one time are gluten free, then the next time I am told they are not gluten free.
Pizza is some of the better pizza for people who have celiac disease (I have been sick one time after eating there).
The rolls ROCK!!!!!!
Love this place! Grew up 5 minutes down the road from it and now that I am gf I am delighted that they have an expansive gluten free menu now! They have fabulous pizza, gluten free rolls that you can get on the side and I love their salads too! The curry chicken salad is soooo good!
