My go-to place in Sioux Falls for fresh, great-tasting gluten free pizza. Staff does an excellent job accommodating for food allergies. Just specify whether it is an allergy or preference. A much safer option for Celiac's than many other pizza places. Plus their food tastes great!
Have visited this location several times with very sensitive celiac kids. They have separate cooler for gf crusts and sauce and they switch gloves and utensils. Same cheese and other toppings as gluten but cross contamination risk is small here. They also place pizzas on clean tray in brick oven and will put off to side if you ask.
Very knowledgeable staff that takes precautions each time we have been there. Changed gloves, got our cheese from a different area & only let one worker prepare our pizzas. My two daughters & I have celiac & are very sensitive & we have never had any issues!
Very nice staff. They seem to try, but beware that they contaminate cheese from regular pizza. Despite changing gloves, they’re contaminating gf food simply by using the same toppings rather than having specific containers for gf. They also shred the cheese on the same unit as they mix the regular dough! I wonder if people are simply going by their reactions or absence of to determine safety, but please know that with celiac, you can be doing long term damage even if you don’t have symptoms after a contamination. We were sad, and it smelled so good, but we’d rather not have pizza with a side of intestinal cancer down the road. ;/
Had a very good experience here. The staff was knowledgeable and knew just what to do to make a safe pizza for my celiac son. He enjoyed it very much and didn't get sick. Will definitely return if in the area again.
Very safe practices. Sauces isn’t great.
Amazing pizza and staff were so great with the gluten free pizza they made for me. I will go back!
Staff was very knowledgeable. I didn’t even have to ask-they automatically changed gloves, got new sauce and knew what toppings (most safe) were safe for my wheat allergy, they warmed a pan up in the brick oven for my pizza to go on while the other pizzas go straight on oven. Pizza was really delicious!
Great pizza, safe handling and great experience!
Our daughter was taken care by one person and she loved her pizza! She didn’t get sick! Fun place for our family with multiple food issues!
Amazing pizza and careful handling. Highly recommend!
Awesome, Awesome pizza and it's Gluten Free. BTW did I mention it's awesome? This is a game changer in the pizza Dept. You will not be disappointed in trying!
Separate utensils for allergies. Knowledgeable staff. Vegan cheese available.
They do an amazing job of handling allergy related gluten free prep. i have eaten there many times and no issues.
Outstanding customer service and knowledgeable staff. My kids and I had gf pizza and my daughter was thrilled to be able to eat pizza out - she has a dairy intolerance and the vegan cheese made her so happy! Would definitely go back anytime! :)
Pizza was very good. All the staff was knowledgeable and careful to avoid cross contamination.
They are very careful to avoid cross contamination as long as you state that it's an allergy. I loved my pizza... And this coming from someone who hated pizza until being diagnosed Celiac and then turned up her nose at all gf pizzas tried.
Ditto the previous reviews - love this place and the way they are so careful from start to finish to avoid gluten and cross contamination (separate work station, glove change, good labeling, separate sauces and cooking area). Will definitely be back.
Good, fresh ingredients. Definitely sensitive to keeping things separate. A Chipoltle sort of atmosphere and not my favorite crust, but overall yummy.
Pizza & staff were great. When I asked about the gluten free options, they did ask if I was allergic to gluten. After that they made every effort to make sure there was no cross contamination, used gloves & separate utensils. Almost all the ingredients are gluten free.
Ditto the previous entry. They do have dedicated staff and certain ingredients set aside, so as to avoid cross-contamination. Most ingredients are common-use, but did not appear to have cross-contam issues. My wife is the GF individual. They ask if you have a GF preference versus allergy, and that is what determines how your food is prepared here. Make sure you let them know it's an allergy if you need to, and enjoy. Very quick service, fairly well kept up restaurant as well. We will be back when we visit the area again!
So pizza rev just opened and I had heard they offered gluten free pizza. I was shocked, they make home made gluten free crust, there is a dedicated person to handle gluten free requests and as I watched he changed gloves each time he changed ingredients. It is build your own pizza and there are tons of ingredients to choose from and if you choose something that is not gluten free they are quick to let you know. By far the best gluten free pizza I have had, I will be going back regularly
I order GF for allergy to be delivered but my pizza arrived marked with GF preference. I called and spoke to the manager who confirmed that he remembered specifically making my pizza (recited my order) and guaranteed me it was GF. I was skeptical so tested with my Nima and “gluten found” was the result. Very careless on their part.
Ordered the GF crust and the first thing she asked was “allergy or preference” told her it’s an allergy. And they had someone change into new gloves and handle my pizza start to finish. I’m SO impressed. No risk of cross contamination. But if you order the cauliflower, be sure to specify that it’s a gluten allergy/celiac. So excited!
This is the most Celiac friendly place I’ve ever eaten. AND their pizza is good. It is crucial that you tell your pizza maker that you are Celiac or have an allergy, because they make the “GF preference” pizzas differently than the “GF allergy” pizzas I have never gotten sick after PizzaRev. Besides using GF crust packaged separately, if you tell them you have Celiac/Allergy, they are trained to make your pizza very carefully. (I watched one of the managers train a new employee on how to make them. Since you are watching them make your pizza, you will know if they miss anything (as one new employee did on mine recently, using a non-GF cutter to cut my pizza, after it was done). If you point it out, they will apologize and cheerfully remake your pizza.) Here’s how the trainer trained: 1. Wear doubled gloves 2. Put a greased pan in the oven to heat 3. Use a pan from a stack of GF pans they keep in a drawer below the food line, and cover with paper from the bottom of the paper stack. 4. Use a squeeze bottle for sauce (kept in a drawer under the line) and the associated GF ladle (it’s color coded.) 5. Use the non-dominant hand and pull toppings aside, and use the dominant to pull toppings from the bottom. Be careful not to touch the toppings on the top of the pan. Never switch hands. (Seriously, this was a detail I didn’t even consider.) 6. Slide the GF pizza onto the warmed pan. Be careful not to let it touch the oven directly. 7. After it’s done, use the color-coded GF cutter to cut the pizza, and don’t let it touch the counter. Seriously, their attention to detail keeps me coming back. And I always feel more confident since I’m actually watching them make my pizza.
The gree pizza tastes great but if you're avoiding cross Contamination, this place is hit it miss. They use the ladle to dip pizza sauce out that they use to spread sauce on the non gf pizza. Granted, they had a separate ladle for gfree pizza but it's kind of pointless when they are dipping the other flour covered ladle in the sauce. If you are looking not to get cross contaminated, this might not be the place for you.
Gluten free pizza and you choose your toppings! They are really careful with allergies.
As a celiac I tend to stay away from pizza places, but we came here in a pinch and it ended up being great! Their cauliflower crust was delicious (and I'm picky with my pizza crust) and is made out of house so no cross contamination. As soon as I ordered the worker changed his gloves and got sauce from below the counter in a squirt bottle and used a new spoon. They also put the gf pizza on a separate plate in the same oven as other pizzas so I didn't get sick. Great place and tasty pizza!
Husband with Celiac got sooo sick. I was fine. I think they may have mixed up our crusts. I called to inform them, not angrily or looking for anything other than keeping other guests safe. The first person answering the phone was kind and took me seriously. I heard her ask for a manager to come to the phone and then someone else came on the phone. There was giggling and I felt like I wasn’t being taken seriously. Their pizza is tasty and I can see that they try to accommodate those with GF diets, however my husband got sick and I was laughed at.
This is the best/safest pizza place I’ve found so far. The employees are very courteous and knowledgeable about allergy procedures, and the pizza is delicious! They do obviously make other pizzas there, so it isn’t 100% celiac friendly, but it’s as close as you’ll get for a non-dedicated facility!
It’s hard to find pizza that’s not cross contaminated. This place take lots of procautions: separate preparation area, separate pizza cutter, a tray to go under the pizza as it’s in the oven. They also offer dairy free cheese.
This is my favorite pizza place in town! The staff is extremely knowledgeable of how to treat a gluten allergy and they don’t make me feel like it’s a burden to them. Plus the gluten free dough is amazing! They also offer cauliflower crust as well. Tons of options and no cross contamination.
Staff was very knowledgeable on celiac needs and specifically asks if you have an allergy when you order the gluten free crust. They get one employee to take care of it so no cross contamination occurs. Killer pizza it’s my new favorite pizza spot in Shreveport.
They are very knowledgeable and the staff is super friendly! Oh and their pizza is awesome!
Celiac here hard to find a place with great GF pizza. Staff was so safe. I was thrilled to enjoy a great GF pizza. I had the bbq pizza. Will be back soon
Found this on a road trip. Gluten-free crust is great. Server asked if I had an allergy and changed gloves when I said yes. Separate sauce is used for GF crust and pizza is baked in a heated pan, instead of directly on the oven surface to prevent cross-contamination. Everyone was very friendly and never made me feel like an imposition. I highly recommend Pizza Rev!!
This place reminded me of Pie Five. You get a personal pizza made just for you. They did ask if it was preference or allergy so they were very aware of gluten allergy (we said preference). The pizza crust was done just right - maybe a little more crunchy on the edges. The sauce was spicy which was fine for me but my kids didn’t like it.
They are celiac friendly! On their website they have a whole page explains their gluten free procedure and all their employees are trained on what to do! They ask if it’s allergy or preference and have a separate cooking area. All toppings are gf too! Vegan options too Highly recommend
Eaten here multiple times with no reaction. They ask if you are getting gluten free crust for preference or allergy. I’ve always told them I have celiac / severe allergy and they take a lot of precautions against cross contamination. I think one reason it’s safe is because the dough is premade so no gluten flour flying around. Plus they make it all in front of you...and it’s delicious!! Love the doughy crispy crust (its dairy, egg, and soy free too) and they have Diaya as well (dairy free cheese). Yum!! Would highly recommend.
Great GF Pizza made to order! Staff goes the extra mile to prevent cross contamination which is very much appreciated! They clearly mark and announce that your pizza is GF/Allergy so everyone is on the same page on all the measures that need to be taken. I have gone plenty of times for lunch and have never gotten sick... So Enjoy! 🍕😋
Yummy pizza! When you order, you go down the line and pick what you want on your pizza. They used a separate sauce container and put my pizza on a metal plate in the oven.
I went to the Cordova location but I imagine the result will be the same at all locations. Looks like they took every precaution, but unfortunately my Nima showed it was cross contaminated. I'm guessing the cheese was the problem because they grab it out of the same open container for all the pizzas.
Pizza Rev makes a very good Gluten Free Pizza at a very affordable price. I just realized that I wrote the review above four years ago and I must have eaten there 30 or more times since and have never gotten sick and always enjoyed the pizza. They must be doing something right.
We ordered the classic and margherita. Both were excellent. The crust has a good flavor, chew and doesn't fall apart. Neither of us got sick and the price is so cheap compared to anywhere we have gotten gf pizza in the past. It is only $1 more for gluten free, so two pizzas came in just under $21!
I have gone here since they have opened. I have had no issues with cross contamination. However, on 2-16-18 I felt very uncomfortable with the preparer. I feel like with a new set of enployees often the GF ALLERGY is NOT taken seriously!! Just pay attention.
This is my go-to place for pizza! When you say you have an allergy, they change gloves, use separate sauce containers/bottles, the works. They just need to be careful when sliding the pizza into the stone oven on the tray...if it slides a bit off the tray, they have to redo it, but when it happened to me, they remade the pizza no problem and apologized. Great customer service and delicious thin crust pizza.
This place has the most unbelievable GF practices - let them know you’re celiac and you are set! Everything is kept separate and you can create your own pizza (which tastes amazing). It goes on a special tray in the wood oven and they use a special cutter when it comes out. I have eaten here several times and absolutely love it! So safe.
This place is amazing. It has a great concept. The staff is nice the restaurant is clean and best of all you can build your own pizza. They have gluten- free crust and cheese available. And a HUGE assortments of veggies ( and vegan sausage) to choose from.
My wife and I are both gluten-free and tried this place. Very young crowd basically high-school-kid-food. If you're in Green Acres go to BJ's for much better pizza.
A GF pizza that actually tastes like pizza! Also, without my asking, the manager changed his gloves, used sauce from a squeeze bottle (instead of using a ladle that had been rubbed on regular pizza crusts. He commented that his whole family is GF, so he takes it very seriously. very happy with PizzaRev!
When we first started going, the staff was very careful and courteous about our daughter’s celiac disease and she had no problems. It was the only pizza place we trusted. But lately they seem to have new staff that aren’t as careful. Even though they follow the glove changing procedures and put the crust on a separate tray, the counters and food prep areas have been covered in flour and when we say that makes us nervous, they don’t seem to care. We’ve left before ordering and won’t go back unless we see the original manager again and cleaner prep space. Be careful if you’re really sensitive. I think there may have been a staffing turnover.
A fast food pizza restaurant- all pizzas made to order. GF options available and very clearly labeled. Tell them you have celiac disease, and they’ll change gloves and prepare your gf pizza on an “allergy plate”: a metal plate that your pizza cooks upon in oven to keep it separate from the others. Not a separate oven but this seems like a solid compromise. Toppings are from a Subway-style buffet counter so make sure your server changes gloves when assembling your pizza, and if you’re very concerned about possible contamination ask for selections from a fresh untouched batch of tomatoes, pepperoni, etc. They seem to be clued up, but as anywhere, some risk. The good thing here is that you can see the whole kitchen process.
Best tasting GF pizza I've come across. I drive out of my way to get it.
