We've been visiting Poirier's since it used to be the Trumpeter. Despite the changes, the GF safety has stayed the same (or maybe even improved?). The menu contains most of the same items, plus a load of new Cajun foods (which makes my spice-loving husband happy!).
Most of the food is gluten-free by default; the menu actually labels things that need special care to be gluten-free. I found this a bit confusing at first, but the unmarked foods *are* GF. Of course, I always tell them I have celiac anyways to be sure that cross-contamination care is used. But knowing that gluten is relatively rare on the menu does give me an extra level of confidence in ordering food at Poirier's.
The fryer, specifically, is dedicated GF. The only gluten items on the menu appear to be breads, pita, buns, etc. that need to be substituted for GF versions. All of these items are marked with an asterisk as containing gluten by default. And the servers are consistently knowledgeable about precautions..
For this visit, my husband and I shared the alligator bites (with fried jalapeno coins), crab beignets, catfish gumbo, and a side of hush puppies with creme brulee for dessert. Everything was delicious - the right level of crisp and crunch, and the sauces were all delicious. There are some non-spicy options on the menu as well, for those who are sensitive to spice. My daughter (also celiac) likes their Ceaser salad. My non-celiac daughter likes their burgers, even with a GF bun.
I've never gotten celiac symptoms after eating here, in about a half-dozen visits. My celiac symptoms are mild, but consistent.
