This used to be a different restaurant. They took on the Celiac friendly attitude of the other place. Amazing Cod and Chips.

DEDICATED FRYERS GUYS 😭 I had catfish & chips! Hubs had red beans & rice. We shared crab boulettes at the table. These options were also dairy free! The server was knowledgeable about Celiac disease and the kitchen takes extra steps to prepare meals with gluten separately. I’ve had Celiac for 8 years and felt very safe eating here.

We've been visiting Poirier's since it used to be the Trumpeter. Despite the changes, the GF safety has stayed the same (or maybe even improved?). The menu contains most of the same items, plus a load of new Cajun foods (which makes my spice-loving husband happy!).
Most of the food is gluten-free by default; the menu actually labels things that need special care to be gluten-free. I found this a bit confusing at first, but the unmarked foods *are* GF. Of course, I always tell them I have celiac anyways to be sure that cross-contamination care is used. But knowing that gluten is relatively rare on the menu does give me an extra level of confidence in ordering food at Poirier's.
The fryer, specifically, is dedicated GF. The only gluten items on the menu appear to be breads, pita, buns, etc. that need to be substituted for GF versions. All of these items are marked with an asterisk as containing gluten by default. And the servers are consistently knowledgeable about precautions..
For this visit, my husband and I shared the alligator bites (with fried jalapeno coins), crab beignets, catfish gumbo, and a side of hush puppies with creme brulee for dessert. Everything was delicious - the right level of crisp and crunch, and the sauces were all delicious. There are some non-spicy options on the menu as well, for those who are sensitive to spice. My daughter (also celiac) likes their Ceaser salad. My non-celiac daughter likes their burgers, even with a GF bun.
I've never gotten celiac symptoms after eating here, in about a half-dozen visits. My celiac symptoms are mild, but consistent.

This is our go-to spot any time we are in the area. Great food, super conscientious about GF and always happily accommodate dairy-free needs as well. Cozy place, friendly service. A great place worth supporting!

Most things are gf or can be made gf, but I wish they more clearly stated next to every item what is GF or GFO for extra confidence. Luckily, both waiters we interacted with were confident regarding what was GF.
But, their fryer is gluten free and nothing gluten goes in the fryer. This means fish and chips, hush puppies, French fries, etc are safely GF.
Bread pudding is surprisingly good as well!

Went here about a year ago for the first time while we were there for the tulip festival. Had great burgers and lots of gluten free options and fried food. We came back a year later to find that they took on southern style seafood. still great gluten free options and good food. they make everything in their frier with a gluten free batter so the frier is clean. buns for the burgers have been replaced with regular bread slices which was a little disappointing, but the rest of the menu definitely makes up for it.

We absolutely love this place! It’s our number 1 date night location. I absolutely love that I can pick something different off the menu when we go! I’m both gluten and dairy free, and I don’t even have to make many adjustments to my meals!
The gluten free fish & chips is absolutely to die for. And the chicken sandwich! But the best part of them all, are the fries! Bonus, they have gluten free beer on tap!

I had a steak salad and it was really good. The waitress knew what I was talking about when I said celiac and assured me that they take great care to prevent cross contamination.

I was disappointed in our experience here. They do have an extensive GF menu but no one in our party of 4 was impressed with their meal. Their buns are made in house but nothing to write home about. My kids and I had them in our meals and we all found the tops to be hard and the bottoms to fall apart. The steak on my sandwich was chewy in some places and hard in others. It was a pricey meal that no one particularly enjoyed. I would not recommend this place.

Great fish and chips! Almost everything on their menu is or can be made gluten free. When I asked about a dedicated fryer, our server told us that nothing they fry has gluten. They have at least one beer that is gf, and even most desserts are gf.
