Pricey but worth the experience. Very attentive to GF needs, they even brought out freshly baked gluten free rosemary rolls for me with separate butter pot. As other reviewer mentioned, very little gluten on the menu. Best Oceanside dining and views in Big Sur! Extensive wine collection too (ask for the separate book).

As can be expected with most high end restaurants, Sierra Mar's wait staff and kitchen are well versed and capable of catering to a gluten free diet. Virtually everything on the $125 four course tasting menu, which changes seasonally, can be prepared gluten free. However, the gluten free bread that is served leaves much to be desired (warmed Schar brand) especially given the price. Nevertheless, if you want fine dining with a nice view, this is perhaps the best (and safest) option for celiacs in Big Sur.

Starting on the West coast, we chose Sierra Mar. Located on the grounds of the acclaimed Post Ranch Inn, this hidden gem accepts public reservations for both lunch and dinner. The property has won numerous travel awards and has been named one of the best small inns in the world. Staying there isn't feasible for everyone's budget, but anyone can dine in style without breaking the bank for a room with a view. Sierra Mar combines spectacular menu options with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. Sitting on the edge of the Big Sur cliffs overlooking the water, this place overwhelms the senses in every way. To say it provides a romantic setting is quite the understatement. The food is fresh and seasonal - and the culinary team understands food allergies - so an amazing gourmet gluten-free meal can be had just by asking. There are several tasting menus offered including the Taste of Big Sur, which includes nine courses. The menu is fluid, but the unique, local ingredients the Chef utilizes for the creative menus will definitely delight your senses!

This was hands down the beat gourmet meal of my life. The food was culinary perfect, the flavors amazing and the server and staff completely on their game. No dedicated menu, but tell them your allergy. Very little has gluten on the menu. The best part is you're dining on a cliff with open view of the ocean just below you. So magical and amazing.
