The staff was extremely knowledgeable about what was and was not gluten free. I ate the Shrimp and Grits and they were so good! He didn’t even put the bread in front of me to tempt me :) I would really recommend this place
Stopped in for dinner during Mardi Gras. They were sampling some non-GF amuse Bouche and the server brought me a little GF bite instead. Only a couple of the appetizers are GF, but most of the main dishes are safe. We had the fish and asparagus with hollandaise, and it was divine! The server was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
They don’t have a Gluten Free menu but the staff is knowledgeable. I had the best shrimp and greens. I like it a little spicy and this was ext!
Nothing is marked GF on the menu but when I asked our server Lyn, she was knowledgeable and helpful. I got shrimp and grits and it was so flipping good. Awesome atmosphere, good drinks, good time. It was a pretty penny but worth it, especially if you love grits. :)
I had the salad with walnuts, apples, dressing and the jambalaya. Both were outstanding! Wait staff was very knowledgeable too! Great place for awesome dinner!
Their lunch menu GF options are very limited, but I got a salad with shrimp, crawfish, and remoulade dressing that was HUGE and very good. Their smoky Paloma is also excellent. I would go for dinner though, she said I’m the choices are less limited.
We went here for dinner, and then lunch before we left Nola. Dinner had more choices. They are not marked, but the waiter, Ike, knew everything that was GF at dinner. He was great. You can ask for him. I had a house salad and red fish entree. It was really good. For lunch, I made my own meal with basically the same thing - house salad with red fish on top. It ended up being $27 for the salad!! I didn’t ask what it would cost when I ordered though. I’m not sure if I would have done anything differently due to the limited options. It was delicious but pricey.
Waiter pointed me to some good menu options for me. The wood grilled fish and one of the risotto dishes were safe for celiacs. I ate without getting sick. Good food.
Very limited menu options however the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and were even willing to help me create a non menu, celiac friendly option.
Two things to eat at lunch waitress had no idea
Accommodating to celiacs. Good food
Waiter didn’t seem confident in what I could eat and acted annoyed. Ordered shrimp which came out dry and chewy. Definitely not worth the money.
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff! Fantastic and delicious food :)
My wife and I were here last night and enjoyed our meal very much. I have Celiac and need to be careful of cross contamination. Last night I had the Redfish with a rosemary worcestershire sauce, which was amazing and I didn’t get sick. Our waitress Sherri was quite knowledgeable and was able to very quickly state what was or wasn’t GF.
Last night was so good we had to come back again tonight. Tonight I have the shrimp and grits which were also AMAZING. We even got the locally made sorbet and it was wonderful. Our server tonight (Cherie) spilled my wine on the floor (about 1/4 glass) and quickly replaced it without and question.
I would highly recommend this place to anybody.
Their menu is not marked, but there is a note indicating that you can speak to your server about GF options. The staff were friendly and fairly knowledgeable. I got the Grilled Red Fish and Crawfish dish and didn't have any issues even though I'm very sensitive. Other reviews had mentioned that they have GF peanut butter pie, but I was told that none of the desserts are GF except the sorbet. Their Gator Bite cocktail is delicious though!
Pick this one! Radically delicious and SAFE!
Phenomenal! Our bartender Josh was well-versed in GF items. No GF menu but everything except the fried foods and soups can be prepared GF. I had the half-chicken with dirty rice and pontabla potatoes (WHICH WAS AMAZING!!). The aoli that you pour on the chicken was sooooo good.
My fiancé ordered the redfish which was outstanding as well. I hate seafood and I tried it - not fishy at all!! The flavors in both dishes were amazing.
We plan on going back for the atmosphere, service, and of course, THE FOOD!
great food and service. Nima tested the jambalaya as well as the GF peanut butter pie for dessert. All safe. They also offer a wide variety of fish, seafood, shrimp and grits, etc.
very good and celiac safe. got the half chicken without corn bread. Great food and knowledgeable staff
Wonderful service and knowledgeable. No GF menu but takes care of you.
No gluten free menu but server was knowledgeable about options on the menu which were plentiful: all salads could be modified (all dressings are GF), wood fired grill options, pork chop, steak, and a few appetizer options. Wasn't offered dessert but a peanut butter pie was marked GF on the dessert menu. Complimentary bread was not GF and no sub offered. I ate red fish with crab meat with potato hash and the bean salad as an app. Both excellent!
Waiter explained the two options on the menu and then dropped some bread and butter at the table. Food was very good, just having zero confidence in his GF understanding.
Fantastic food. Waiter very knowledgeable about gluten free options. White chocolate cheesecake was delectable
The BEST!!! Lots of GF options including the house special & dessert. Service was wonderful & I'd go back again. Kinda pricey but worth every penny
I got the grilled shrimp. it was delicious. the white chocolate mousse cheesecake shouldn't be passed up. it was great.
Great meal for a gluten and dairy sensitive person. The waiter was great in helping make the right choice.
Excellent food!!! No gf menu. Our server knew what gluten is but didn't seem to know the menu well, contrary to the hostess's information, however he was extremely hospitable and willing to ask the chef my questions. It was one of the tastiest meals I've had in a long time.
We went for dinner with my 12 year old daughter that is celiac and the only option she got from the kids menu were grilled shrimps and sauteed spinach. She liked her meal but maybe a little more options for the younger would be appreciated.
My husband and I are here 3 times. He is a severe celiac and didn't get sick once! Awesome food every time.
I had the red fish with veggies and cheese grits. The food was fantastic and our waitress was great! The waitress was very knowledgeable and I'm super sensitive and had no problems.
As recommended by many others, I had the redfish grill with the gluten and dairy free sauce, it was yummy. :)
Food was fabulous and my server was knowledgable and helpful. I had their signature wood grilled redfish and jumbo crabmeat dish. They subbed out the veggie normally with the dish as it was fried in a communal fryer. Delish food, cool location too. Make a reservation. It was packed!
Amazing tuna with a divine carrot-ginger purée, delicious GF cheesecake, the amazing food garners the 5 stars, only downside is that certain parts of the restaurant have poor acoustics and make for an extremely noisy dining experience
Some options, the server was a little nonchalant for my taste when describing the options (severe Celiac here). Other servers appeared more knowledgeable about the menu and your options.
The food was incredible. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. No separate GF menu but they do know what's gf and what's not, and will work with you to accommodate. I got the redfish and lump crab dinner and a house salad to start. The food is pricy but worth it, if you're willing to spend the cash. The portions are moderate. I'm very small and my husband is very large. He didn't think it was enough food for the price but I was pleased and left feeling full.
In a word...delicious. The waitstaff were very knowledgable about gluten free options. I started with the bacon Apple salad which was very good and refreshing. For dinner I had the glazed seared tuna with carrot ginger purée. It was amazing! Dessert did not disappoint either; a gluten free white chocolate mousse cheesecake. Very rich and quite a treat! I'd recommend this place to anyone, not just a celiac.
The staff was pleasant and recommended several gf options on the menu. I had the jambalaya. It was excellent , very delicious and no signs or symptoms !!
While they do not have a gluten free menu, my waiter was very knowledgeable on my options and what could be done to alter a dish to make it gluten free. I had the shrimp and grits which were fantastic!!
By far, the best restaurant choice I found in my short stay in New Orleans. Very accommodating and the staff can walk you through the menu quickly and without a lot of running back and forth to the kitchen to ask questions.
no GF menu, but most dishes are GF and staff understand and can advise. great dinner
Amazing! GF cheesecake, salad, and redfish w lump crab meal w potatoes and veg. Tasty rum punch. Excellent service, beautiful restaurant. Loved it!
Completely agree with Phil! Waitress was incredibly knowledgeable of ingredients even knowing the soy sauce has gluten in it. I could have most of the entrees and they even had a gfree cheesecake!
The food is superb. Our waitress in addition to being wonderfully friendly, was knowledgable about the ingredients, and once she realized that I was asking about GF she pointed out the only two entrees that were out of bounds. Delicious food, great service! Highly recommend.
Lovely waitress wad very helpful and kind in my selection. Food was amazing
Our server was friendly and helpful!! Hubby got the seared tuna and I got their signature red fish & crab. The potatoes they come with are not GF but I substituted mashed potatoes and it was great!! DO NOT skip on the GF Cheesecake. AMAZING!!! It was a good find!!
Awesome food, friendly knowledgeable service, amazing food!! Very celiac friendly!!
This was our first visit to New Orleans and I found Red Fish Grill on this app. Such a wonderful restaurant. The food and service were outstanding!!! Our server Susanna was very knowledgable about the gf options and was as sweet as can be. The Red Fish with jumbo lump crabmeat was yummy as was the Creole shrimp appetizer. Highly recommend this restaurant!!
Although there is not a separate gluten free menu, make sure to ask your server! Our server went through many items on be menu and how they can be altered to accommodate my needs.
