I’ve had their gf and df chocolate cake (HOLY MOLY I still dream about it everyday), cupcakes, donuts, and other pastries. LOVE everything, but go for the cake!! Safe for those who are gluten and dairy intolerant, not sure about severe dairy allergies or celiac.
Holy mole !!! 4 glass cases/ 12 rows of every pastry you have dreamed about. Cool town and quick drive from Denver.
Have an entirely dedicated gluten free section. Everything is clearly labeled. Baker asked if I wanted it packaged separately from the other treats I was buying that weren’t gluten free. Which I did. And then put a gluten free sticker right on the one that was mine.
Best selection of gluten free baked goods I’ve ever seen!
NO LONGER SAFE FOR CELIACS! I went early in the morning hoping to get fresh pastries. Everything we purchased was hard and extremely dry. I have a Nima Sensor and tested the gluten free sticky buns and biscotti and both came back with gluten found. I have been coming here for years and have tested my pastries every time since it is a shared bakery and never once did it come back with gluten found. New owners have recently purchased the bakery and since then the quality has gone down as well as the safety. If you have celiac disease this bakery is no longer safe!
Oh my. It's hard enough to find a good gluten-free bakery, let alone one that focuses on German pastries. I wanted to try so much more, but I had a gluten-free Dobash, and it was excellent. It could have been a touch less sweet, but the flavor was there so I could work with it. Someone with me had a gluten-free raspberry truffle cake, and she loved it. She would have preferred a fresh raspberry on top rather than a gummy. Another had the traditional dark chocolate cake and was blown away. I will definitely visit again when I'm in town. The only reason I give 4 stars for safety is because they do bake traditional items also, and it's worth being vigilant of that. The server helping us asked if we wanted our gf items boxed separately, so they do get it.
Had to make a stop here after seeing all of the positive reviews. Pros: First of all, the smell this place gives off from the outside is intoxicating.. you’ll end up wandering in even if you didn’t intend on going! They have plenty of gluten free baked options. Lots to choose from and they even have dairy free/sugar free options as well. Staff is also really friendly. I ended up getting what was recommended by the girl which was the Lemon Blueberry cake. Cons: The non sugar free items are VERY sugary. Someone previously left a review about the amount of frosting in some of their sweets.. she wasn’t kidding. My treat was good, but it was a little overkill. I ended up not finishing the whole thing. Also if you’re a true sensitive Celiac, you have a hawk eye on how they handle the food as well. The girl who checked me out was not wearing gloves, so I saw her pick up the order that was ahead of mine and placed their items it on the same tray that she put mine. Luckily all desserts are in a cupcake liner but it still made me nervous that she placed mine on top of where gluten filled treats go. I ended up eating it and will update later if I get sick… seems like no one yet has left a bad review regarding getting sick. But just something to be aware of when ordering here and either ask them to wash their hands or to not place the item on the same trays.
I am a little surprised to see so many good reviews about this place. While I appreciate they do have lots of gf options, all of their gf options are also dairy free (cheaper to combine dietary restrictions), which means their frostings are all super sugary and flavorless. The cake portions of their treats are powder dry, and there is so little cake between the giant layers of icky overly sweet frosting that you really only taste the frosting. Bought non-gf items for relatives who said they were good, but if you are just gf and can still eat dairy, I definitely would not recommend this bakery.
So many gluten free, dairy free and even sugar free options. I’m a lactose intolerant celiac and have never had issues. I was in line next to another customer who was the same who is a regular!
Rheinlanders makes amazing GF, dairy free, and sugar free items! If I want a treat, it’s my go-to place! I try to stay away from sugar, but I slip and have the yummy sugar ones sometimes.
Loved it!! They give you a discount if you order 6 things. Taste and texture were great. Eclair seemed a little stale, but it was the first gf eclair I’ve ever had so maybe that’s just how they are. Custard was excellent.
They have so many gf options. Desserts I haven’t eaten in almost 10 years!
So many options on display in a case. I have never been to a bakery that had so many items to choose from. I would guess over 20 different GF options!
Many df as well.
Very cute area of town that is family friendly with other gf dining options nearby.
Their response when I asked about cc.
We have a strict protocol as far as labeling and separation of creams and fillings used for gluten free items goes, and during production we have separate work spaces for actual scaling and finishing of items. We also use different types and colors of buckets in addition to labeling to prevent any chance of mixing up batters. Finally, we have an entire dedicated gluten free walk-in freezer to store backups of finished product so they don't come into contact with anything containing gluten. If you have any specific questions regarding any processes let me know and I would be happy to answer anything!
A great German bakery with a ton of gluten free, sugar free options, including a few dairy free and regular with gluten baked goods.
We ordered a variety of treats and taste tested them. Most popular cupcake, hands down: lemon lavender gluten free cupcake. The pistachio almond bar that’s gluten free, sugar free, and dairy free was our runner up.
The bakery isn’t the cleanest, like another reviewer pointed out, I didn’t see staff using gloves and they put baked good on a tray that may have had non-gf items on it, but everything is wrapped so it’s not direct contact. The staff are helpful and friendly. Although the website “about” section doesn’t appear to share this, staff shared that the owners wife is celiac and they’re celebrating 59 years in business. Apparently a bakery has been in this location for around 100 years.
This was a tasty treat after enjoying a flavorful dinner at So Radish, a vegan, almost 100% gluten free restaurant located two doors down.
They have two cases of gluten free baked goods and several others with gluten baked goods. The staff member used her hands to grab the treats I ordered - I was surprised that she didn't wash her hands or use gloves. She then put the treats on a tray that may have been used for gluten food. I don't feel good about their handling and am shocked that this bakery has so many positive safety ratings from fellow celiacs. In addition to my concerns with cross contamination, my partner and I both agreed that the treats were nothing special and certainly not worth the high price tag. If you are looking for good value in the Denver area, I recommend Deby's, Rivers & Roads, Allergy Free Baking Company, and Bosco Baking Company.
The greatest GF pastries and sweets I’ve ever had!
Wonderful and knowledgeable staff So much to choose from!!!!
I stop here every time I’m in Denver area. Enjoyed my treats as always. What a treat !
This is by far the best gluten free bakery i have ever been to. The quality of the baked goods is phenomenal and is like tasting a little bit of glory. Not only are the treats exquisite, but the aesthetic and past of the bakery is genuinely divine. Easily off the charts in the flavor department. 11/10
There were regular treats ,gluten free and sugar free. I got my mom eclairs and she fell in love. There's a 2 window length case with gluten free items in them. All my gluten free items were plated and boxed separate. They even marked the box clearly.
Amazing! Got a large GF pull apart bread and OMG it’s delicious!
This is my go to bakery! They have the best gluten free options and when I e gotten cakes for parties and events, nobody else even realizes it’s gluten free. It’s so delicious! And I’ve never gotten sick from eating here even though they do make quite a few things that aren’t gluten free as well.
Looked at reviews for Rheinlander bakery and decided I had to try it. They have a wonderful selection of gluten free options! They have the best cupcakes I’ve ever had in my life! I had the campfire one and the peanut butter bomb! The eclair (with sugar. I did not try the sugar free one) was outstanding along with the chocolate chip banana bread!! I did try the sugar free carrot torte, and that was just ok. I guess I like sugar! Haha Highly recommend! So delicious!!
This place is nothing short of AMAZING! It was my favorite place in Denver. They have two cases full of gluten free goodies- cupcakes, tortes, pastries, cookies, breads, and coffee cakes. I had a chocolate eclair (for the first time ever!), and I couldn’t believe it was gluten and dairy free. The staff was able to describe detailed precautions they take to prepare gluten free food in a Celiac-safe way. This bakery was so wonderful and the staff so helpful that I drove back on my last day in Denver to pick up treats to share with my family back home! I will definitely be going back when I’m in Denver next!
This place is out of this world. Literally everything I’ve tried has been delicious. It is so hard to find desserts that are vegan and celiac safe, so this place is really amazing. My favorites so far are the cinnamon rolls and peanut slice. Have never gotten sick from anything here, would definitely recommend to other celiacs.
Absolutely amazing baked goods and cakes! I've never been disappointed. They always have a great selection of individual torte cakes, and it's so hard to try a new one since the last one was so good. Their sticky buns with nuts are also excellent.
I LOVE the Rheinlander Bakery! The GF cupcakes (especially Black Forest) are delicious and the GF Banana Chocolate Chip dessert bread is fantastic. They also sell GF flour blends and a modified tapioca starch that make your own baking at home turn out really, really well. The staff is always super friendly and they take care to handle and package your GF items separately and safely from foods that are unsafe. Highly recommended! We’ll definitely be back.
Amazing gluten free dairy free pastries, cupcakes and other sweets. Very knowledgeable about cross contamination. So delicious that when my non-celiac family members order gluten free dairy free they can’t tell the difference although they do have other treats as well.
I absolutely love the Rheinlander Bakery. Not only do they offer a huge assortment of amazing baked goods, but they offer many options for those of us that have certain dietary restrictions. I am so obsessed with their GF Boston Cream Pastry and their GF White Chocolate Cashew Clusters. The owners and staff are super friendly and offer incredible customer service. The sights, smells, and staff at this bakery are a delight and always make every visit such a memorable one. A big thanks to the staff and to Maro for saving Christmas for me!
