This has been my go-to for Tex-Mex for years. They have lots of options, but most are not celiac-safe. Consider this a gf menu for those who don’t need to worry about CC. There have previously been some safe options, but the staff turnover seems to have made this more difficult. Chips used to be safe, but last time I went they no longer had a dedicated chip fryer. Be sure and ask LOTS of questions before you order. Staff are always friendly and do their best to accommodate, but the reality is that they don’t have the training that the staff had in years past.
I REALLY wanted to love this place. The menu is fantastic and BIG. Other people have had celiac friendly experiences. Here is the problem: 1. The lunch appetizer option came out with a flour quesadilla. 2. I sent it back explaining that anything that touched the “rat poison” must be replaced. Against stating this is not a choice but a true “allergy.” 3. All replaced BUT it came out on the same damn plate. Insert face palm. I gave up and just finished my chips and left. I will probably give this place another try with more emphasis and maybe a chat with the manager. I just didn’t have the time for another redo.
The staff was very friendly and instead of a paper mean I got a full printed gluten free menu full of options and how to make it correct for me. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. If I am ever back this way my family and I will be back!
YUM! YUM! YUM! The food at this restaurant is amazing! When you ask for a GF menu, you are handed what looks like a regular menu, instead of a crumpled piece of paper from a notebook. There are so many options that it was hard for me to read them all through the tears in my eyes! I highly recommend this place for a safe and delicious GF meal! Bonus: Chips are GF too!
I have Celiac and always enjoyed eating here but they no longer have a GF menu. We went at noon on a Saturday, I asked to speak to the manager since there was no GF menu but he wasn’t there. Our server had NO clue as to what was GF or not. He said they could make anything GF which is obviously not true. :(
Staff brought me "chips" that tasted like flour based. Then, after eating it brought corn based chips, but said they were the same chips. I know flour when I taste it. Also, got projectile vomiting in 10 mins of eating the queso and chips. But they said it must be quest. Unsafe, don't eat here!
We did carry out and the manager took our order. Our son has celiac and they were very knowledgeable and accommodating. He wento to the kitchen and made sure that everything was safe for our son.Super good experience! If it wasn't that it was so busy at the time, they would have made the flautas my son wanted in a separate pan. We decided to go safe being the kitchen so crazy. Their chips, salsa and fajitas were delicious!
They used to be very good at being celiac and GF. For the last several months, we've been coming home sick. We used to eat here once a week. Now, we are having to cut it out alt hotter. Very upsetting.
We love Tex Mex and have tried more atex Mex restaurants that I can count. We tried this one because it was advertised as having a GF menu. It does and the manager even came to our table to discuss my choices. I appreciated his attention to my needs. But the food is better at other restaurants. Service was good. Food was average. We will stick with Abuelos for Tex Mex.
I have celiacs and we go here frequently. I have never been sick after eating here. Their gluten free menu has detailed notes on it so you can make sure your dish is gluten free. Just ask for their gf menu. Great chips and salsa and great margaritas too!
The staff was not knowledgable that I dealt with last night, but I had a teaching moment with my waitress. She said they are not trained at all about gluten free and she said a lot of them do not know what it is... Including her. Food really wasn't that good compared to other Mexican restaurants that offer gf! Pretty pricey as well for their quality of good.
I've eaten at the one in Colleyville and was thrilled when I happened across this one. I'd already eaten lunch but went in and spoke to the manager who showed me their gluten free menu and seemed to know a lot about cooking gluten free and not cross contaminating. He said that there are quite a few folks with celiac disease who eat there regularly. I am looking forward to eating in this very nice looking restaurant.
