If you have a coconut allergy, almost everything here except for the peanut butter cookies on the cart have coconut. So it’s best to try to find a different place if you need coconut free options.
I did like their peanut butter cookies and it didn’t make me sick. I also have celiac, milk allergy, coconut allergy and a tuna allergy. The peanut butter cookie falls apart easily is the only con. But otherwise the taste was good and I liked the flavor. I’d rate the peanut butter cookies 7/10 just since the crumbly texture was a bit frustrating to eat since sometimes the cookie fell to the ground even with eating it mostly in its package.
My husband has a soy allergy and had the pumpkin cinnamon roll. My husband says it’s a 7/10 for the pumpkin cinnamon roll. The texture is very bread-like and heavy.
Went here because they specifically sell gluten free and vegan baked goods and I was not disappointed. I have a sensitivity also to oats and when I asked about if their goods contained oats they were more than willing to share with me. Great environment with great workers, plus it was delicious!!
It’s great that it’s all gluten free! However, the baked goods are always meh. I feel safe eating here, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best gluten free bakery treats I’ve had. There’s better. The actual food on the menu is a gamble. What I’ve tried has never been very good. The baked goods are fine, but pretty dry and crumbly, either too sweet or not much flavor at all. Pretty pricey too.
Most of the menu was crossed off as not available when we arrived at 11am. We always eat gf, vegan was new for us, and was a bust. Kids asked for Cesar salad without chicken. There was chicken chucks all over them. They couldn’t eat them. I’ll admit, I tried it but couldn’t either. Fun to have lots of gf pastries as options, but the two we tried we found too sweet to eat.
Rise is awesome. I'm constantly amazed at how creative and tasty their food can be while catering to so many food restrictions. Highly recommend!
They are a dedicated gluten free facility, as well as vegan, dye free, and more.
The crew working is also knowledgeable and kind.
Rise was our first stop in Grand Rapids, had a fantastic lunch of vegan nachos, and an elevated vegan grilled cheese w a soft vegan cheese and caramelized onion. Quickly disappeared! And then we filled a pastry box with apple fritters (my first in 20 years of celiac life!) a donut, a stroopwafel, millionaire bar, yum tart…all were fantastic. Will stop again anytime we’re near GR!
My husband went to get me bagels. Bought the salt and herb bagels. The herb bagels were very tasty, the salt bagels were really salty. It was nice to finally get a flavorful bagel but they weigh a ton - could only eat half at a time. Also had there fruit granola. Tasty but expensive.
Sadly... I have to update my review. I'm celiac and come here once a year because it's very allergy friendly and each year the donuts are amazing. I stopped by today, bought baked goods, and got an item heated up. While I was waiting for the item, I watched an employee in the back lick his ungloved fingers several times while heating up food for customers. I wasn't sure what to do, so I walked out with the items I paid for. I'm disappointed because the food is delicious, but costly. I have $45 worth of baked goods and I'm not sure they're prepared safely? I likely won't be returning out of concern for safe food handling. It's a bummer.
The selections on a Thursday late morning were not too impressive. The staff were too busy in a conversation that they continued while I ordered, that they charged me for one item and didn't give it to me. They put a different item in my box, which looked very unappetizing. I did not enjoy the granola bar I got, nor the pop tart thing they threw in by mistake. Very expensive, as usual for GF, but not worth the cost, in my opinion. The website says there is some parking in the back. That is untrue. There are only spaces for other establishments and it's a very small area. I went out of my way to eat here passing through GR. I was sorely disappointed.
Well, the reviews got me here, and frankly we're disappointed in the results. The cinnamon roll was presented tasty but very bland on the inside with way too much sweet topping. The apple strudel was the same looked great with no Flavor in the breading- we tossed both out after a few bites. The oatmeal creme pie was okay, nothing spectacular. All 3 items rather pricey- especially given our findings.
Excellent Bakery! My husband has celiac, and my youngest son is anaphylactic to eggs and soy…best bakery and sweets we have had! You can’t even tell the difference from foods that have gluten, egg or soy! We find this our biggest struggle going out to eat - finding and ENJOYING the taste of gluten free (and egg/soy free) baked goods. This place is a must!
My family tried a little bit of all the baked goods. They didn’t really have a lunch menu. Everything was good, but for the money we spent, the experience wasn’t on par. It was SO hot in there, the water was warm, and the people weren’t very friendly. Grand Rapids has so many gf options, I’d rather spend my money at a place that appreciates it. 🤷🏽♀
Good baked goods. Decent food — though their menu was extremely limited the day we were there; most of the items on their menu were crossed out (I think I heard them mention supply issues to the people in front of us). But we had enough for a light meal that was dedicated gluten-free. And the baked items were a good dessert!
I love Rise. GF bagels, donuts, yum tarts (their version of a pop tart), empanadas, cookies, you name it. It’s all GF and all delicious
Nice to to be able to choose anything here and know it was GF. Tried the Millionaire Bars and the cinnamon rolls, both were very flavorful.
