The workers all seem to be knowledgeable about gluten and cross contamination. They’ll immediately change gloves if you let them know you have an allergy. There are only a couple items with gluten in their ingredients, but they are close to the other ingredients so can get some spillover. Nevertheless, we (2 people with celiac in the group) have been there many times and no issues.

I have been eating here for several years with little problem however the past year or so, I have ended up getting glutened every time I have gone. There are only two ingredients with gluten on their menu so how this happens is beyond me. The staff is a bit reckless and ingredients end up everywhere. I end up with miscellaneous ingredients every time including non gluten free pita chips and bulgar. I would not recommend eating here as I have had several friends with celiac who have also been having the same problems with Roots.

Make sure you go in store so you can see the location of the ingredients in the assembly line and don’t blindly order online for pickup. Staff changed gloves and washed hands which I appreciated. I tried to be very careful in deciding what to order based on proximity to the 2 gluten containing foods on the menu.. The crushed tortilla chip section was mixed in with cheeses and there were literally pieces of chips EVERYWHERE. I wouldn’t feel comfortable eating here again unless they move the tortilla chips to its own section at the end of the assembly line.

Lots of options, knowledgeable staff and they changed their gloves. Two thumbs up!

Celiac friendly?

Yes

Staff was very knowledgeable and there was only two things that weren’t gluten free (pita and bulgur). I got a rice bowl with sweet potato, corn, avocado, lime pickled onions and a sauce I can’t remember but it was great. But you could also just pick a base and add a bunch of toppings too if you want.

Almost everything is gluten free. Staff is very good (and friendly) about changing gloves the moment you say Celiac or allergy. Due to the location of the pita chips & cheeses, you may have to ask them to to get cheese from a new container. But the staff is always nice about it!

Signature and customizable salad and rice bowls. Fast friendly service. Only menu items with gluten are the pita chips and bulgur. I have celiac and eat here often, never a problem. Staff are trained so just ask and they’ll switch gloves. All dressings and marinades made in house. Dairy free options available. Vegan and Vegetarian options available. Always fresh!
