NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY - SAFETY ISSUES
It's 11:10 of Saturday November 23, 2019. I just finished a long conversation with the customer service representative of Rubio's and they confirmed that they don't provide any gluten free finished dishes.
Cross contamination can't be avoided caused the way they manage food and cook food. In particular: RICE is FRIED in the same FRIER of the battered fish. It is absolutely a dangerous process as it contaminate a food that is gluten free and ADD gluten to it.
Don't trust managers that will confirm you they will do the best do avoid cross contamination, it is beyond what really they can do.
NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY
No
We are here in the area on vacation. We stopped by here because I was STARVING and needed to find somewhere I could find something to eat. The allergy menu online was pretty easy to navigate so I chose chicken nachos. My only complaint was that the cheese wasn't completely melted. Otherwise they were tasty and I didn't get sick at all! We would definitely stop by here again!
Called to order and was Told if you are allergic don't eat here they can't guarantee anything. Wouldn't discuss the menu options or anything. Not sure if the person we spoke to had no clue what she was talking about or if something has changed?

They have delicious and gluten free options! No need to compromise on flavor by eating naturally gluten free food. Corn tortillas taste great too!
My go to fast food in San Diego! Almost all the tacos are made with corn tortillas. I go for the street tacos and ask for no cheese on the beans, and then it's totally dairy free too. I know the chips are made in a shared fryer, so avoid if you are sensitive.

The food is quite good, but I ate here so many times thinking it was Celiac safe because of their allergen menu... When I got sick the third time I should've freaking realized, but it took a cashier finally saying "you know this isn't Celiac safe, flour tortillas have been ALL over the grill" for me to realize it was definitely gluten. I know, dumb on my part, it was just the only place around for me so I ignored the truth.
