Agreed with the recent reviews below - and the photo of the celiac menu is accurate. Waitress was super friendly and gave me the menu with no issues. She said if I was okay with cross contamination, she could show me some more options but everything on the celiac menu is safe for celiac. Everything was delicious - I highly recommend Yuzu Beef especially! Felt very safe and food was great.
Nice place with great food! Very knowledgeable about Celiac and had a gluten free menu. I went with friends who did not have a gluten allergy and whenever the waiter placed an item on the table they would notify whether it was safe for gluten allergy or not which was greatly appreciated especially when we ordered the same dish. Great place.
They had a dedicated gluten free “celiac” menu. Announced which items were “allergy friendly” and which were not and brought out specific GF soy sauce without me asking. They seemed knowledgeable about cross contamination in that they warned me about the fryer, but I can’t speak to what measures they took in the kitchen.
Ruka just launched a GF Celiac menu - it is a lot smaller than the regular menu but still had plenty of options.
Ask your waiter for the GF menu and make sure to specify when you’re ordering gluten free. My waiter asked if I was ok with cross contamination and when I said no he said they would be sure to be careful.
All my food came out with an allergy flag and a “safe for allergy” comment from whoever dropped it off, and my husband’s food (he didn’t order gf) came out with a NOT safe for allergy comment.
Not a good experience. Waiter seemed to try hard to offer safe options but recommended farro and corn as gluten free and I ate it. When informed it is not gluten free, we still had pay for the dish even though we stopped eating it. Management did respond after the incident to refund entire check and try to improve allergen safety in the future. Hopefully will improve.
Terrible experience. Waiter had no idea what was going on, very few viable options. And the waiter was such a mess that he insisted to go check with the chef one item at a time, which meant that he ran back and forth from our table to the kitchen about 10 times, each time coming back to tell me that what I’d chosen wouldn’t work. It was embarrassing and put me in the spotlight and at the end of the day, the food was fine—not amazing, and expensive for the few, mediocre, heavily altered options we were offered. I’d have rather just had a bag of chips. Worst dining experience in Boston so far
Waitress knew all of the items that could be made gluten free and the dishes were good (though notably only one warm dish was available). There were 5/6 items total. Felt a little nervous about cross contamination because it seemed like the restaurants practice is removing ingredients with gluten from menu items. It could be that they are very careful with cross contamination and the waitress just didn’t know but I felt a little apprehensive, particularly because when I asked about the cocktail menu she said it didn’t have any gluten ingredients but that they couldn’t say anything beyond that.
