The gf bread was a warmed up hamburger bun. The waiter was not well versed in GF. Sides very limited on menu and you had to make sure you noted the difference on how to prepare the item. Not impressed. Meal was decent but not confident it would be celiac friendly.
Saltgrass Steak House is my NEW go-to for GF bread. This bread is toasted and brought to the table with a whipped butter. It's light, soft and fluffy and actually has an excellent taste even without the butter. I give the Cedar Hill store a 5star only bc each time I've visited, they've offered GF to me. Irving and Arlington branches have not EVER offered me GF bread even after asking for AND ordering from the separate GF menu. I've had everything on the GF menu and now I usually order the embrochette or the grilled salmon. These two are the best tasting to me. And the asparagus us always on point when I order this with a ton of garlic powder grilled. Kudos to Cedar Hill for being more observant and taking time to inquire about my GF reasons! Irving and Arlington need to take better notice of their patron's needs.
Very good gf menu available. Your waiter will bring you unlimited warm gf bread, if you ask, which is their hamburger bun but it's fairly good & definitely kept my kids happy while waiting for our delicious steaks!
All Saltgrass Steak House locations have a BRAND NEW GF menu. Outstanding choices, lots of information on preparation too. I was told that the GF menu was reviewed by a group of doctors for authenticity! Just ask for the menu-you will be glad that u did!
Our waitress was nice but clearly untrained in what celiacs disease is. The manager came by and realized this and took over but he wasn't much better. He said a fried appetizer which is in their gluten sensitive menu would be fine but upon further questioning it was discovered there is no dedicated frier. They simply scoop out any visible contaminants, (should have been my clue to leave). I ordered steak and a potato, it was very good, but I had a reaction.
I had potato soup and a salad with the homemade ranch. Mmmmm, mmmmm good. No reaction!!!
I was so excited to go to this steakhouse because of the reviews; however, the service was bad and plain negligible. I had to tell the waitress multiple times about my gluten intolerance yet she still wanted to bring the regular bread, didn't bother to offer their GF bread, and brought a salad with croutons and bread crumbs. I felt like I needed to justify to her each time why I couldn't eat these things and she made it seem like a drag when she had to go back to either change the order or bring my husband and I GF bread once we inquired about it. The food was okay at best. The amount we paid at the end was a joke after the terrible service and insensitivity. I wish some people could be more understanding of health issues individuals have.
I have eaten here many times: steak, baked potato, sweet potato, asparagus, and salad. I let them know I have a gluten "allergy", and have had no ill effects. (Love their steaks.) They have a gluten free menu. They have gf bread, but I've only ordered it once: too many carbs!
The place was beautiful and the Staff was very friendly. As for the gluten free menu, it was a decent size with plenty of items to choose from. I loved that they had a loaf of Gluten free bread that you got before your meal. while that was all wonderful, our experience was not the best. We had asked before hand if this was a place we could get in and out of pretty quickly for a sit down dinner. (hoping for 30 to 45 mins) They said we would be able to, only for us to be there over an hour and closer to and hour and a half. The worst part of the meal was the fact we were brought refills on our drinks, they didn't ask if we wanted refills and they left within seconds not giving us a change to ask if they were free of charge. Only for us to learn that they were not free. We had to pay for refills that we really didn't need since we hardly drank any of it. The waitress was also far to personal with her life. Overall the two stars are for the care we got with the rest of the Staff and the excellent gluten free menu.
We ate here for a late lunch. I am highly sensitive to gluten and did not get glutened! Food was good and staff was friendly and knowledgeable and went out of their way to assure food was gluten free. Also served warm gluten free bread with meal! Highly recommended.
I was invited to this restaurant to celebrate with some friends. Before going I called the restaurant to inquire whether they offer gluten free options. They have a gluten sensitive menu. I was a little scared but went anyway. I was provided with the menu and proceeded to order from it. I ordered the grilled salmon, rice, and potato soup. The waiter quickly returned and informed me that the chef was concerned about the soup as he felt there were a few ingredients he thot might have gluten. I then ordered a dinner salad. The waiter checked on the dressings to ensure they were safe for me to consume. I am happy to report that the food was so very tasty, and I had no issues whatsoever. While this place is a little pricey, if you're looking for somewhere special to celebrate, this is it!
I've eaten here twice and haven't gotten sick. Waiter offered GF bread which is a Udi's hamburger bun and didn't charge me for it. They went out of their way to make sure the food was right!
this place is really bad. the reason is they will put things on the gf menu that are not. the shrimp with bacon are deep fried in shared oil. they won't tell you this anywhere on the menu either. there is no "shared oil" disclaimer. gf fries in a supposedly dedicated frier consistently arrive with onion ring bits in it. if you are serious about gluten avoid this place, they will smile and lie while poisoning you. I had a manager argue with me about a menu item that corp verified I was correct.he was going to poison me.
I'm gluten free and came here because 1) the have a nice GF menu and 2) it was right next door to my hotel. Food was great! They only thing I wasn't totally thrilled about was the service. I sat at a table in the bar and it took a good 5-7 minutes for someone to come greet me and ask me what I wanted to drink. Service was very slow, it took my food a long time to come out. Once I was one I sat there another 10 minutes before I got my check. Again, the food is really good, just make sure you have plenty of time.
I've been here a few times (when I'm in town for work). Always enjoy Saltgrass. Great steaks! They do have a separate GF menu. And my waiter said they take allergies & celiac very seriously. Manager introduced himself & assured me they would take good care in the kitchen.
Our sever/manager/kitchen staff was amazing at handling our food. I informed our sever that I have celiacs and he went to the manger/kitchen staff and informed them. An assistant manager came to our table and informed us that the general manager was over seeing our food in the kitchen. He said the serves go through training on allergies but the management gets a more extensive training and they have different colored utensils for cooking the different foods. Also the tequila is added in later with the frozen margaritas so we can add a 100% agave tequila and have it!
