Awesome potato soup! Had the cheeseburger on the GF bun with a baked potato. I will be back!

This Saltgrass needs lessons from the SG in Lake Charles, Louisiana! The hostess was a sweetheart AND saved us an ER visit! My daughter and I have Celiac. We’ve always had the best food, service and care at the SG inside The Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, La. My daughter and I ordered off the gluten friendly menu. She ordered a burger and specified GF. Also asked for ketchup and mayo since it doesn’t come with it. When I realized she didn’t order a sweet potato like she normally does, I asked the waiter about the side. He said it came with fries. We didn’t think the fries were gluten free, so we asked him to make sure. He said, yes, they are gluten free. I then asked if they were fried in a dedicated fryer (to prevent cross contamination), he said yes. My husband was not convinced by his answer and the entire time seemed preoccupied with something else. The hostess had told us when she was seating us that she had severe gluten intolerance (different than Celiac) and got us gluten friendly menus. My husband went and asked her about the fries. She said she was not aware of them being gluten free, but would check for us. A manager came out to the table and reassured us the fries were gluten free. I then asked if they were cooked in a dedicated fryer. She said no, they were fried with floured foods!!!! Then they are NOT gluten free!!! Had we not checked, my daughter would have been severely ill and cost us an ER visit!!!!! Thank goodness for the hostess! Then, my steak was undercooked, waiter had to be asked two more times for mustard and mayo (never even got mustard). Will NOT go back to this location!!!!

Food is good and have never had issues. Best baked potato soup ever!!

I personally love the gluten free menu. They made sure it was gluten free when I asked. I love that they had also served it fast and well-made. They payed attention to my order very well, and made sure no mistakes were made with cross contamination. I have the actual Celiac disease, and I feel safe eating there. Food is also very good. I love it there.

Had a dedicated gf menu with lots of options. Even brought out gf bread and butter. Good service and food was good. Had a steak and grilled shrimp with wedge salad and baked potato. Yum
