This Saltgrass needs lessons from the SG in Lake Charles, Louisiana! The hostess was a sweetheart AND saved us an ER visit! My daughter and I have Celiac. We’ve always had the best food, service and care at the SG inside The Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, La. My daughter and I ordered off the gluten friendly menu. She ordered a burger and specified GF. Also asked for ketchup and mayo since it doesn’t come with it. When I realized she didn’t order a sweet potato like she normally does, I asked the waiter about the side. He said it came with fries. We didn’t think the fries were gluten free, so we asked him to make sure. He said, yes, they are gluten free. I then asked if they were fried in a dedicated fryer (to prevent cross contamination), he said yes. My husband was not convinced by his answer and the entire time seemed preoccupied with something else. The hostess had told us when she was seating us that she had severe gluten intolerance (different than Celiac) and got us gluten friendly menus. My husband went and asked her about the fries. She said she was not aware of them being gluten free, but would check for us. A manager came out to the table and reassured us the fries were gluten free. I then asked if they were cooked in a dedicated fryer. She said no, they were fried with floured foods!!!! Then they are NOT gluten free!!! Had we not checked, my daughter would have been severely ill and cost us an ER visit!!!!! Thank goodness for the hostess! Then, my steak was undercooked, waiter had to be asked two more times for mustard and mayo (never even got mustard). Will NOT go back to this location!!!!

I personally love the gluten free menu. They made sure it was gluten free when I asked. I love that they had also served it fast and well-made. They payed attention to my order very well, and made sure no mistakes were made with cross contamination. I have the actual Celiac disease, and I feel safe eating there. Food is also very good. I love it there.

Great experience! Our server Deshun brought out bread for my husband and a gluten free roll for me to start, so thoughtful! No cross contamination and the ribeye was melt-in-your-mouth perfect.

Child has celiac and they served gluten free bread. The menu says “gluten friendly” so we were just cautious and order chicken unbasted. He didn’t get sick. :) Bread is Udi’s.

Wow!!! I am celiac and dining out can be both depressing and a chore. Not here! When we walked in I asked the hostess if they had a GF menu and she brought one. When our server came to the table he immediately spotted the GF menu and was ready to go with GF suggestions, including the most wonderful GF “house” bread (complimentary like their regular bread). Best GF bread I have had anywhere! Entire meal was so pleasant and perfect. I had zero reaction and I am extremely sensitive. I will be back as often as I can afford to be!

Separate GF menu. The waiter sent the manager over right away, and he pulled up the current ingredient list right on his phone to tell me what was safe. Very pleased with the care taken with my meal. I have additional allergies on top of celiac to accommodate. Will definitely go again. The salad dressings are made in house. I had ribeye, steamed veggies and a salad and no reaction.

Only reason I’m not putting celiac friendly is because it’s an open kitchen but yallllllll they have gluten free bread here and it’s delicious! They also have a menu on hand and are super friendly about it!

They have a gluten free menu. I had a delicious steak with garlic mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad w/o croutons and did not get sick. I think this place is a chain in Texas but the food was really really good and they were good about gluten free.

I’m gluten and lactose free. They can not accommodate if you are lactose free. I asked for oil for my baked potato and was given oil with vinegar in it. If you don’t mind stomach cramps and diarrhea for hours you will enjoy eating at this restaurant.

Our waiter was not familiar with celiac disease, but was very attentive and eager to learn to make sure I had a great dining experience. The gluten free bread was excellent and they even brought me separate butter. They have a special gluten free menu that tells you want is safe or what to modify. Just be sure to speak up and tell the waitstaff your needs - otherwise it could be fairly easy to be glutened here.

Ask for a separate GF menu. It’s not much besides steak and a burger, but decent. I asked for oil and vinegar for my salad dressing and the containers were filthy. I’d be wary of touching anything (even salt and pepper shakers). Ive eaten there several times and haven’t gotten sick.

Food tasted good. Everything went well except when they brought my daughters gf salad out with croutons, when we sent it back they returned it with the top croutons picked off and the rest hidden in the salad. The manager fixed it but still charged me....

While visiting here in Colorado Springs, we thought we would make a stop in for a steak dinner. This place didn’t disappoint. Morgan suggested bread for the table and we started to give our spill about me being celiac. She immediately suggested GF bread for me, with a nice honey butter I might add, and I had much to select from. I would eat here again.

Overall I’ve had good experiences here. My only problem has been with the salads. Once the waitress noticed a crouton crumb, and I found them on a different occasion. I don’t know if the kitchen staff puts them on, then notices that my order is gf and just picks them off or if the salad area is a mess and crumbs end up in the lettuce. I no longer order salads there.

Zac was treated like a King at Salt Grass tonight by our waiter Nate! I hadn’t eaten there in a long time, but me and my in-laws were looking for something different. With Zac’s dietary restrictions we have be cautious where we eat. So I pulled up my “Find Me Gluten Free” app and saw that Salt Grass offered gluten free options. He loves steak so I said great! Let’s do it. Well you know a lot of steak houses have bread and so does Salt Grass. When the waiter brought the bread out I told Zac he can’t eat it. The waiter looked at me confused and I explained he has to eat gluten free. He responded “Well we have gluten free bread would you like me to bring him some?” You can see from the pic above that Z was in heaven! Then he automatically brought me the gluten free menu without having to ask. Their menu even had kids choices on it and it included steak! I am so used to ordering him an adult meal in order to accommodate his needs. The sides were mashed potatoes and French fires. Nate explained that the fries are not gluten free so he offered veggies and I asked if they had fruit (which I didn’t see on the menu). He said “I can cut up strawberries, apples and oranges for him. Zac said “Can I have apples?!?!” Well he brought him warm apples with cinnamon because they didn’t have plain apples like he thought. The waiter said “If he doesn’t like it I can get him something else”. But Z loved it! I mean I never had a waiter or waitress be so accommodating to my son.

In Irving Texas wanted a non spicy place to eat . I was able to have a Caesar salad no croutons waiter it was very very helpful and understanding. Had a ribeye with no sauce or juice very good. Garlic Mashed . Only GF dessert is ice cream . Went back Sunday night , only issue was the kitchen put croutons and a Caesar salad. I was lucky to see it stopped eating it in. Did try the gluten-free bread which was very good

Very knowledgeable staff. Only issue was potato soup was listed as GF. Manager came out and explained that it was made with a chicken based broth that had small amounts of gluten so if Celiac I should not order. I appreciated their care and knowledge. Good was excellent. If the soup was not on GF menu I would have given a 5.

I had the BBQ Baby Back Ribs and Shrimp with Mashed Potatoes. The ribs were fall off the bone delicious. The mashed potatoes were just okay. I did not like the shrimp, they were a little tough. We ordered the Ranch Ratlers and they brought them out deep fried. We were confused so we called our server over and he said he didn’t understand why they were gluten free either so he called the manager over. They realized that they had made a mistake and apologized over and over again. the server had just not pressed the right button. They brought out the gluten free option and took the charge off our bill. Thankfully I didn’t eat any! They do have a GF menu. Would recommend!

3-4 stars for the food itself (heavily salted), but 5 stars due to the impressive gf options. Plus, some staff members really take it seriously. The waitress heard me say I’d like a bite of my husband’s soup. She asked the chef and told me it was gf when she brought it out. I never asked her to do so - she was looking out for me when I wasn’t. Very impressed.

Server was very busy... so busy he set down a plate of bread before I could get a word in. Told him I had Celiac Disease and he looked at me like I had a third eye. After a few words, I got a Gluten FRIENDLY menu. Can't guarantee no CC but food was EXCELLENT. I got the cross-cut streak, loaded with grilled mushrooms and garlic mashed potoates. Our appetizer was the Range Rattlers and it was spicy but DELICIOUS! Definitely enjoyed this place (besides the over-busy waiter).

We had a great dinner here close to hotel. Steaks were fabulous. GF menu lots of options. We did not ask about fryer we had steak and garlic mashed potatoes which were great. Server was knowledgeable. Went there day 2 they were very nice but you need to know stuff on GF menu is not GF such as bbq sauce on ribs. We made them check which they gladly did and it wasn’t GF which is annoying bottom line if you have Celiac you ask a lot of questions. So don’t assume.
