On safety—Menu is designed and procedures are strictly followed with allergies and restrictions in mind. Staff is fully educated and trained on allergen contents, and substitutions are pre-established for dishes that may be made to exclude gluten and other restrictions/allergens. Recipes are designed with strict guidelines. Gluten-free items are clearly marked if prepared in advance, and food contact services are kept free of gluten unless specifically designed for such (i.e. a cutting board that is used in service for bread is only used for bread, while gluten-free bread is prepared on a separate station; fryers or frying containers that prepare gluten-containing products are kept separate from gluten-free vessels). Guests are asked in advance of their visit about dietary restrictions and accomodations, especially in the event of very specific requests, and also at the beginning of each visit. We maintain a database for regular guests who have restrictionts as well.

Even though we came in a weekend with no reservations we were warmly welcomed and invited to sit at the bar, which was just fine. We loved interacting with the bartenders and watching them work. They were very accommodating of my GF needs and were able to sub house made focaccia on the fondue. The food was quickly served without feeling rushed, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious! The menu is clearly marked for items that are GF and there are several choices. We shared the fondue and I had the Socca vegetable tart and the brown butter pound cake, which was toasted — so good!!

This restaurant includes multiple gluten free appetizers, small plates, entrees, and fabulous gf desserts in their menu. The menu constantly changes, yet maintains a wide selection of items with the gluten free and celiac community in mind. The first question your server or bartender asks is whether there are any dietary restrictions. You are offered excellent GF focaccia to accompany steak tartare, chicken liver pate, Pate Campagne (!), baba ganoush, or Amish fondue (wow!). Main dishes and salads include many gluten free options and many can be adapted. I recently had a mushroom ragout dish that the chef prepared with buckwheat groats instead of barley that was outstanding! I can recommend the braised beef cheek, roasted beet salad, Amish roasted chicken breast, various fish preparations, the short ribs, and so many more. Now let's talk desserts. GF desserts I've enjoyed are citrus pounds, brown butter vanilla poundcake, pavlova, chocolate mousse, and the most decadent house made ice cream - especially the bourbon sea salt vanilla. From start to finish, this is the best gluten free casual fine dining (with excellent cocktails, wine selections, and welcome bubbles) in Pittsburgh!
