The waitress forgot to put Gluten Free in when she entered my order. So the first time she brought it out, I asked just in case and she looked at it for a minute and said it didn't look gluten free. (Their GF crepes are a light brown) they remade it and after 20 minutes (my standard reaction time), no reaction. The stuffed crepes are HUGE. Definitely shareable. Just make sure that it's a light brown and not white.
I discovered Simply Crepes at the Gluten & Allergen Event in Raleigh and have been loyal ever since. Lots of savory and sweet gluten free items to choose from. I spoke with the manager and they DO have a separate griddle for Allergens. It's an open kitchen and neat that you can go up and watch them make your gluten free crepe. I would highly recommend to anyone that eats Gluten Free.

This place is NOT celiac friendly. They do have lots of GF options and keep the dough in a separate bowl, but they have only 2 skillets and use both of them for gluten containing crepes, so there is no way to avoid cross contamination. This place is nice though and may be a great choice for not celiac people.
Very cute place. I give it a 5 for the amount of GF options. I give my crepe 3 stars. I ordered the vegetable crepe with pesto and red pepper sauce and it came out looking amazing. Unfortunately the crepe itself is very, very dry. There was just a dab of this sauce on the crepe, but either that or some other sauce was much needed. I've had GF Crepes at another establishment made with almond flour and it was not dry at all so I'm guessing the buckwheat is the culprit. I will try again with a dessert crepe next time.
The menu is marked with many gf options which are excellent and I've never felt ill after eating there. I have not been diagnosed with Celiac but have had to eat gf for 5 yrs or suffer the consequences. We eat here about once/month and have always had a good experience. Staff is knowledgable.
Ordered a gluten free simply breakfast crepe and halfway through the manager stormed over asking if I have an allergy or if gluten free is a preference. I told her I have celiac disease and she said the crepe was not gluten free. I'll now spend the next 3 days getting violently ill.
First visit today and the first dining out I've done since being diagnosed with Celiac's. Simply Crepes has gluten free options that actually taste great! They have separate preparation areas, separate tools/cookware, and trained staff. My questions about cross-contamination were answered cheerfully, the service was great, and so was the food!
The presentation was great. The flavors were diverse and rich but not overpowering. My fiancé was ecstatic because she has never had a crepe due to celiacs disease. She had only good things to say about what she ordered. I ordered the cordon bleu and she had the turkey and Gouda crepe. She also ordered the banana nut crepe desert. She said that was also delicious. I am unable to comment on the desert because I am very full from my meal. In other words the portion sizes are generous. I will be returning to this establishment soon.
If you can tolerate buckwheat, you will enjoy their crepes. This restaurant offers quite a few gluten free renditions/versions of their main menu dish options. Their menu also indicates a gluten free icon next to those particular menu options making it more convenient for 'us' - the allergy suffering diners. Also, if you can drink coffee, try their "Jamaican Me Crazy" hot coffee, it has beautiful hazelnut notes and is a favorite. Make sure you let the wait-server staff of your allergy and make a request to speak to the manager on duty to discuss any concerns regarding their menu options and food preparation. The decor is where "quaint meets tuscan rustic" and is a sweet place to have breakfast and lunch, although they also serve dinner crepes as well. I rated this establishment 4 stars only because I feel servers in any restaurant should be given additional training from their employer on how to service clients with our special food allergy needs and concerns as this would make our dining experience more enjoyable. Otherwise it is a sweet place to dine, in my opinion. Hope your experience will be sweet too.
I had eaten here before and was unsure if I had been cross contaminated but I went a second time and as my boyfriend and I were waiting we noticed that there was only one place for crepes to go and they would put the buckwheat crepe on the same hot plate as the regular crepes. I really enjoyed this place but can’t go here until they fix this.
My girls friend is celiac and very intolerant to a lot of things. After talking with the waitress who then sent out the manager which we didnt ask her to, we were very confident that the staff would be extremely careful and professional while preparing her gluten free dinner. The food was delicious and she didnt get sick, I would give 6 stars if I could.
I asked for gluten free buckwheats crepe. It came out look like my husband who was eating regular crepes. Buckwheats crepes looks darker. Double checking asked again if was gf & was told it was. I ate less 1/4 of crepe. Got so Sick. 🤢. I told the waitresses that this wasn’t gf she became grumpy. It was 45mins to closing time. I’m sure they gave regular crepes because they want close the kitchen. Never going back.
Was here on 08 October. The menu is clearly marked and the staff was knowledgeable, pointing out that something I had ordered was not GF. Best of all, my breakfast crepe was delicious. It is VERY busy at lunchtime on a holiday and reservations might be a good idea.
Can I give 6 stars? Most of the menu is GF and delicious. Service was outstanding! We had 7 gf dinners and 3 gf dessert on a very busy day and nobody got sick. We did use up the reminder of their ground buckwheat so they had to prep more between our courses but it was so worth the wait! Someplace else would just tell us they ran out.
My girlfriend and I ate here last week. Yes they are knowledgeable about celiac and yes my food was gluten free but the crepe was dry and flavorless and we both ended up just eating the food inside of the crepe. Safe yes but for 14.00 a crepe I would expect more .
I also had the server double check if I was given a gluten free crepe, because it looked and tasted different from what I've had there in the past. I was assured it was the gf crepe and I was sick with in a few minutes of eating it.
Absolutely delicious! You can replace any crepe for a gluten free one ($2.00 extra) and the menu has it marked for which crepe insides are GF. Waitress was very knowledgeable and asked if it was for a gluten allergy so she could tell the chef. They had a free cider tasting promotion and an extensive wine list.
Though a tad on the pricey side, the food is delicious and the portions are enormous! There are many options on the menu which can be prepared gluten free, and the buckwheat crepe they use is quite tasty. I ordered the "Rugby" and was astounded at how big the portion was. Probably shouldn't have eaten the whole thing for lunch but it was so tasty that I didn't regret it at all.
excellent food, and large portions make it worth the trip. very good service. the gluten free buckwheat crepe was very good. I had bbq pulled pork and it was very tasty. my co-worker had a salad with chicken and a side order of potatoes, and he liked it so much that he requested we return for lunch the next day as well. there are many many gluten free menu items to choose from. restaurant is in downtown Canandaiga, and there is a free public parking lot behind the restaurant. a pretty downtown area with many restaurants and shops.
Great menu, they were very helpful regarding cross contamination- separate cooking area, changing gloves. Just be sure to clarify whether you have celiac or just prefer gluten free- they can accommodate both. My son says, "10 thumbs up!"
DANGER! BEWARE! I got seriously "glutened" there. I was hundreds of miles from home so it was a REAL problem for me. While their ingredients may be safe, I do not believe they have proper preparation protocol for serving a delicate celiac. They seem to have only 1 grill and there were NO signs of anyone changing gloves, cleaning the grill, using different tools to work with gluten-free batter. Sadly, hindsight is better vision than foresight. But YOU can learn from my complacency-bred terrible mistake! If your GF diet is by choice, perhaps you'll be fine. But if you are a highly reactive celiac like I am then AVOID AT ALL COSTS OR BE PREPARED TO WATCH LIKE A HAWK AND POSSIBLY REJECT YOUR MEAL FOR BAD PREP.
Fantastic with a wide variety of delicious options. Service was outstanding and she ensured us things were sterilized to avoid contamination. It was worth the detour drive out of our way during a road trip.
Amazing!!! I have eaten there many times, I have never gotten sick and I'm extremely sensitive. Their gluten free oatmeal creme brûlée is to die for. Also, they have many gluten free dessert and breakfast/lunch/dinner options. I highly recommend.
The staff was SOOO KIND!! They made us feel right at home with the friendly and cozy atmosphere. They have a beautifully decorated place with a fireplace and hardwood floors and chandeliers hang from their rustic ceiling. It's the full package. The food was amazing! Came out fast and was simply delicious! I had the GF crepes with a one of a kind raspberry latte!
