You do NOT have to order ahead here if you don't want anything specific. (If you're looking for a cake, then yes—you would have to order ahead like any small bakery.)
I walked right in without calling ahead, grabbed some cinnamon rolls, a bag of flour, and a frozen pumpkin muffin for 1/2 off. All for $27. Pretty good deal, in my opinion. Everything frozen was 1/2 off. They also had a massive tray of carrot cake, variety of cupcakes, Montana rice, pies, cookies, brownies, frozen slider/burger buns, fresh/frozen bread, and jams.
They also don't use potato starch and a number of other ingredients in their facility that I am allergic to.
Good people and great product. We picked up a tray of cinnamon buns, loaf of banana bread, loaf of zucchini bread, two Reese’s Brownies and two chocolate chunk brownies to keep my daughter happy during our week in BigSky. They even opened up on Sunday for me to swing by after landing at the airport to pickup. Everything was excellent! Devoured the breads. The Zucchini Bread has a gingerbread taste to it. Banana bread was sooo good!
Bought the apple walnut bread and it was really good! Also the garlic herb bread bowl was perfect with some creamy dip and warmed. Also picked up a couple of brownies that were yummy.
Sister’s Bakery uses oat flour from Montana Gluten free, who follow Purity Protocol.
They offer some dairy free and vegan as well.
Considering they are a gluten-free bakery in a small Montana town they offer a good selection.

They had yummy and large freshly made cinnamon rolls. Very yummy. Also got a Reese’s brownie and cinnamon raisin bread to try. They were out of their famous banana bread.
For those sensitive to oats this is not the place for you as everything is made with oats but certified gluten free Montana oats.
Was told by the owner that while they used only certified gluten-free oats, they used a shared kitchen. All of their products are made with GF oats, so if you do well with gluten-free oats, this might be a great place to get locally made baked goods. However, if you can't eat oats, then you will not have any options here. It's not a full bakery and there is no seating. It's more of a storefront. Their products can be found a local farmer's markets.
Love that everything is gluten free but everything contains eggs!! They can make anything vegan upon special request but I didn’t know that when I drove to the bakery. Probably won’t order though. I like the option of grabbing eggless gluten free goodies on the fly.
We drive out from Helena just for Karen's wonderful gf garlic roasted bread and cinnamon rolls. We've also had the banana nut bread and apple cinnamon walnut bread and they were delicious! Today we added croutons and dinner rolls, haven't tried them yet but know they will be just as tasty.
