Separate GF menu, server quite knowledgeable... The shrimp and grits were amazing and we split brussel sprouts because we just love sprouts... They offered to cook the sprouts in a separate pan due to the possibility of cross contamination. Would eat here again with confidence... Oh... And the dress code is nice casual. We both wore shorts and nice shirts. :-)
All the positive reviews are true - knowledgable and confidence inspiring staff - wide enough GF choice in all three courses - again my party decided to all go GF and I the only celiac tasted all four dishes and did not get glutened. Best tasting shrimp 🍤 and grits I have eaten in the South. Would have been five stars if they had served GF bread option.
Wonderful experience. I had the shrimp and grits and it was delightful, flavorful and tasty. There was a whole gf menu too. Our server, Anne Marie was incredibly kind, knowledgeable about celiac disease and keeping it safe. The atmosphere was simply charming. It was a phenomenal lunch!
Food was excellent, full GF menu with a number of options. I had the pork chop and it was huge. If they had a GF dessert option I was going to splurge but I was way too full to even consider. Staff is very careful with allergies, I have more than just gluten I need to avoid and the server let me know what was safe.
A restaurant that has it all! My husband brought me for a surprise birthday dinner and we sat at the chef’s table facing the kitchen. Cocktails, food and especially the service were all phenomenal! The waitress was aware it was my birthday and we were given complimentary prosecco at our arrival and a complimentary dessert, which was the pot de creme which was out of this world! I am gluten free and the waitstaff was very knowledgeable about my options even beyond what the GF menu offered down to being sure NO cross contamination occurred. Would 100% recommend this restaurant and go again myself on our next visit to Charleston.
Staff was knowledgeable. Did have a gluten free menu, was told I couldn’t get the potatoes on the gluten free menu because they are fried in the fryer, but offered me other options. Just let them know you’re celiac and they will accommodate.
They had a gluten free menu. However, the server did not seem knowledgeable about what gluten free really meant. Staff needs to be better trained. For instance, she told me that they could swap out the grits for something else if I wanted (grits are GF). I ordered the crab cake from the GF menu. It was brought to the table along with avocado on toast (toast not mentioned on GF menu). I asked if the toast was GF (it was not), she realized her mistake, and brought it back to the kitchen. I told her I would need the whole thing replated, and she said no problem and apologized. Kid 1 liked their hamburger, kid2 liked their steak frite. Husband liked his shrimp and grits. After they brought me the GF version, I liked my crab cake very much. The chili verde was excellent. Staff was friendly but misinformed.
AMAZING waitress. She was very knowledgeable about food allergies and reassured us that my allergies (celiac and dairy-free) were something they could easily accommodate. Had the halibut with veggies and it was delicious. We also had the sorbet which was dairy free! The sorbet was a wonderful surprise since many restaurants don’t have gluten and dairy free options for dessert! :)
I ate here twice about 5 years ago because S.N.O.B. was so excellent. And brought my family back on my return to Charleston. Our server was phenomenal, And gave me excellent guidance. While the gluten-free menu was more extensive than I think I've ever seen, I knew I was going to have the Shrimp n Grits, because it was so incredibly good on a previous visit. It's definitely the best I've ever had. I finished off my meal with a Chocolate Pots de Creme, which did not disappoint. We'll likely return for dinner a 2nd time on this trip because S.N.O.B. is so very reliably gluten-free and the food is excellent all-round. Delightful atmosphere also.
Dedicated gluten free menu, including two really awesome dessert choices. The food was amazing, and our server (paul) completely understood my allergy and was knowledgeable not only about which options were safe but also about cross contamination. He cautioned fried foods because they don't have a dedicated fryer. To top it off, the food was incredible. Awesome meal.
this was so unfortunately disappointing. I read after the dinner that they changed chefs last year, so maybe that's why?? I heard such good thing and was really looking forward to a great meal. my group if 4 all felt the same. our dinners were either not cooked correctly (meat, seafood) or were very bland. considering the price it was not worth it. we split the shrimp and grits as an appetizer and that was average, not the best I've had but good. for my meal I tried the grouper with Carolina rice - both were unfortunately bland.
All the stars!!! Really incredible lunch I tried something I'd never had before rice middlins (sp?) with ham and greens and poached egg. It was delicious. We met a family member from far away here and held camp at the table for quite awhile and the service was very kind and gracious, it meant a lot to us.
Delicious food. Safe for celiacs. Expensive and worth it. Beautiful place. Kind server. Does not have gf bread. I had grilled peach salad w its customary dressing- possibly the most delicious salad I've ever had - and also BBQ tuna entree followed by pot au creme desert. . All absolutely marvelous. If I am not mistaken, all are gf in their customary preparation and presentation - which makes it easier for kitchen and safer for me and you.
Many gf options. Husband had the duck and I had the shrimp and grits. The food was delicious. We really enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The price was somewhat high but the food was excellent and the portions were generous!!! We will return
Oh my goodness! This restaurant was amazing! At first I was skeptical, I really didn't want to eat here. But I am very glad I did. I had scallops and confit potatoes. The chef was very knowledgeable. He even cooked our meal separate so I did not get sick. The dessert had to be the best part. The special was a flourless peanut butter cookie with chocolate mouse. This was to die for. Then my grandma got the chocolate pot de creme. This was so rich and creamy we all went to heaven. It was an amazing experience.
Well it seems to be celiac friendly but that's about the only good thing I have to say about my meal here. It wasn't bad, it was just average and bland. Nothing special, and for the price, not worth it. I had the lamb and it was just not very good and the green beans were slightly undercooked. The starter asparagus soup was good, although I added some pepper. Overall I'm giving it two stars because for the price of the food it's really not that good, and not anything special.
Otherwise known as S.N.O.B, Slightly North of Broad is another well-known top rated restaurant in Charleston. There is a gluten-free menu available for lunch and dinner which offers many interesting selections. The gluten-free shrimp and grits is as fl avorful as ever and packed with shrimp, tomatoes and sausage! The bleu cheese salad and the crab salad served for lunch were divine!
