Our favorite dining experience in Charleston, so much so that we ate here twice. Almost everything on the menu is either GF or can be modified as such. The flounder was bar none the best piece of fish I’ve ever had. The server brought me a delicious piece of GF bread (bun) to dip in the clam dish. Excellent service, ambiance, and a new menu daily.
Felt very safe and comfortable here. I've been every time I come to Charleston (about once a year) and have always had a wonderful experience. Excellent food, great service, awesome ambiance. Many things can be made gluten free and they ask right off the bat if it's an allergy or preference.
Delicious GF options and the server was very knowledgeable! I did the lunch fixe menu (baby lettuce salad, shrimp & grits and chocolate pot de crème)—and it was lovely! I was a little disappointed that the potato chips on the baby lettuce salad had to be excluded as they are not GF.
Nice place. Lots of options. Waitress understood gluten and rattled off how to make each item GF if it wasn’t already. Fingerling potatoes can be pan cooked instead of fried in the shared non GF fryer. Some really good GF desserts. Bummer the corn bread was off limits. Shrimp and grits were great. Have GF buns
I am gluten intolerant and also have a mollusk allergy. The staff ran me through the whole menu of what I could and couldn’t have. They even mentioned all of the substitutions and ways they could cook other things so that I could still gluten free and mollusk free. The staff was very knowledgeable of everything.
I went to SNOB for lunch based on the reviews here. I am celiac and had made my reservation with that notation. I advised my server immediately of my allergy. He hesitantly went through the lunch menu with me. I asked if he was confident in his knowledge and stressed that I really needed attention to cross contamination. I made my order as easy as possible; salad, steak, grits. No fried anything, no gravy, sauces, etc. Asked that my steak be done in a separate pan. My salad arrived promptly & was delicious. My entree arrived on its heels not 5 minutes later. My server came by several minutes later and apologized. My steak was not very good, but the grits were fine.
I was sick within an hour. Clearly glutened. Whether cross contamination or? I do not know. This was a simple order that should've been able to be prepared by a skilled kitchen without cross contamination. Hoping I'll be able to make my cross country flight tomorrow.
Delicious, easy gluten free and dairy free experience. Our server was so helpful and detailed exactly what k could have as well as how they could modify things for me. I could pick from about 90% of the menu! Amazing.
This restaurant was awesome ! The staff was acknowledgeable about gluten-free. They worked with you and they fully understand what is gluten-free all about. The meals was phenomenal ! ! The Restaurant it’s a little expensive but from start to finish is 100% worth it Definitely make reservations .
I made a reservation online, and the system allowed me to enter my food allergies. The waiter knew about them before we sat down, and was mindful of them throughout the meal, accommodating how food was delivered (dairy on the side for my partner, who can eat anything), and offering substitutions for sides.
Make a reservation! I left a note on Resy explaining my gluten allergy and our waiter greeted us, explained top menu choices, and then directly addressed me regarding my allergy (from memory, very impressive). He verified that my dinner choice was safe for me before writing down my order (filet topped with whipped goat cheese and onion jam and a side of mashed potatoes). This was one of my favorite meals we had in Charleston!
Unlike previous reviews, our servers did NOT give us confidence on ordering gluten free. If you have celiac, the magic word is ALLERGY - I am about to board my flight in 2 hours and I hope the food continues to sit well with me :). It tasted great - and we even had desserts!
Excellent shrimp and grits. My partner insisted on going back a second time. Knowledgeable staff who guided us through the menu items. We were there early afternoon and sat at the bar and watched/listened to the server meeting as the manager went over the menu and made sure the staff knew what items were gluten free. We would highly recommend.
I’m piggy backing off of the review below mine. I came here yesterday for lunch after the amazing reviews and had the shrimp and grits which was recommended by my server who was wonderful and also got sick an hour after I ate. It was absolutely delicious I have to say but I had stomach issues there after unfortunately.
On a recent visit to Charleston we picked SNOB because it was highly rated for celiac issues. Unfortunately I got sick within an hour of eating their “shrimp and grits”. It was recommended by my waiter as being GF and delicious. It was also recommended by folks on this very site. Before I got sick my meal was outstanding. Very, very good.
Our waitress explained that many items are GF, even though not labeled because they come with bread. She was very knowledgeable and even as i looked at the dessert menu was sure to let me know what options i had on tbe menu and off the menu. We did sharing across the table so all dishes were served bread I their own separate bowls. I felt very safe eating there and feel fine 24 hours after my meal. I had the crème brûlée and pot de creme and they were delicious. Wonderful meal, awesome service and they definitely made me feel safe eating there.
There is not much labeled as gluten free in the menu, but our waitress explained that many items are GF and most that aren’t are easily modified by removing the bread. She was very knowledgeable and asked specific questions to be sure I got a safe meal. (I have multiple food allergies.) Each person that brought food to the table verbalized that the food was gluten free. I felt very safe eating there and feel fine 12 hours after my meal. Coolest part-they serve bread and cornbread before the meal to non-celiacs so I could not eat that, but then the kitchen sent out some freshly baked Gluten free biscuits just for me! They were amazing. Best GF biscuits I have ever eaten. They also have several desserts that are GF. I had the crème brûlée and it was awesome. Great meal and they definitely made me feel safe eating there.
SO THRILLED!! Amazing food. 80% of their menu is already gluten free or can be made gluten free. I got their shrimp and grits because it sounded delicious and was already gluten free. It was amazing, filling, and not as pricey as it could have been: a my massive plate was $19. Overall I HIGHLY recommend!!
Amazing service! Staff were very knowledgeable. The menu changes regularly based on fresh available ingredients. They’re an upscale establishment so they can accommodate gf. They also asked if I had any other allergies. I had the swordfish with fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Husband had the shrimp & grits. Both meals were DELICIOUS!! Finished the meal with coffee and crème brûlée. Highly recommend.
I ordered the eggs Benedict, one of several menu items that I was told was gluten free. My husband had shrimp and grits. Luckily, that too is gf so I got to try his food too. Both were really yummy and I’ve had no issues. The biscuit with the eggs Benedict was one of the best, gf or otherwise I’ve ever had.
