As a GF DF diner, sometimes I must be satisfied with one thing I can eat on a menu. Was super psyched to find there were multiple options here. Though the menu isn’t marked, the server was incredibly knowledgeable (eg couldn’t have a dressing with soy sauce, but getting extra aioli would compensate). The ticket was marked with ‘celiac’ and the kitchen cooks our dishes separately. I enjoyed my meal and would definitely go back again.
They no longer mark their menu with gluten free options. The server also informed me they dip bread for gluten free and regular french toast I the same batter. So lots of cross contamination issues. We ended up leaving without eating.
Fun place for brunch with friends. It has a retro decor and fun coffee mugs. Their pancakes are HUGE! Hash browns come as a formed patty (kinda like a burger?) with crispy outsides and soft center. A fair amount of items are GF. They have corn hole outside while you wait and a front patio with dog friendly seating.
Loved coming here! My waitress knew exactly what celiac was and assured me they prep items in separate pans/areas. There was so much to choose from, probably 75% of the menu is gf! I even got to enjoy a cheese danish pancake which was so unique and fun to try. I’ll definitely be coming back here :)
Waiters noted that they could add allergies to the ticket and did so. Food came out with gluten free marking sticks. Only downside is that GF is not marked on the menu. But the waiters did a great job noting what options they had. Great experience and fantastic food! I got th GF OMG French Toast which I inhaled! My 4 year old got the GF blueberry pancakes which he ate all of it! My wife got an omelet with GF toast.
Where do I even start? Unbelievably good!! Tried MANY different things including pancakes and waffles. 95% of the menu is GF. And if you go on their website you can look at their menu and select gluten-free tab and it will show you everything that is gluten-free or other things like allergies.
Best breakfast in San Diego! Almost Everything can be made gluten free and they are knowledgeable about allergies and celiac. I eat here at least once a week and have never gotten sick. I am 99.9% confident in this restaurant. And the food is the best tasting including non gluten free places.
OH MY FREAKING GOD!!! Sooooo delish!! I can’t even explain how amazing this place is!! The gluten free pancakes, the eggs, hash browns and bacon were all amazing!! The atmosphere was fantastic and the staff were all so pleasant :) This place is a must!! I have a wheat, nut and seafood allergy and had no reactions :)
Amazing breakfast! Was able to customize my order! Did a classic breakfast but swapped the toast for a GF blueberry pancake. This was not on the menu but the staff knew it could be done. The pancake came out with a “gluten free” wooden stick. (Not dairy free) - Bartender also informed us the Bloody Mary house mix is gluten free.
Went here twice on my vacation in San Diego! Very knowledgeable about allergies (I’m allergic to dairy and gluten) and had plenty of options. I ordered an omelette with hash browns and it was delicious, and best of all I felt safe. Highly recommend.
I've ate here twice. Got the blueberry danish pancakes and french toast neat. Both of them were delicious and when I asked for the gluten free options they asked if I am celiac which I am. They said that my food would be prepared in a separate area of the kitchen which helped me feel much more relaxed. Would definitely recommend
Went here for the first time and the majority of the menu was able to be modified. The staff was very knowledgeable and told me that the kitchen staff changes their gloves and cooks the food separately from gluten containing items. I also received my meal with a flag indicating it was gluten free. Had a great experience here, would definitely go back.
Great breakfast spot. Many choices. Very careful about GF concerns. Items are well marked. Restaurant is knowledgeable.
Service is always great, it has a fun atmosphere, and the menu is wonderful! I’m just a tad wary of visiting now. Last time I went, they delivered a marked gluten free pancake to the table since I mentioned I had celiacs. My friend and I shared it and also ordered the same omelet main, no toast. Though I’ve never had an issue with cross-contamination. An hour or so later I got violently ill and was sick for the next 5h. It didn’t last long enough to be food poisoning, so I suspect the pancake was not gluten-free. 🙁
Oh man this place was a little bit of heaven for me!!! They offer lots of gluten free options!!! I was so excited that I could get French toast and pancakes and they were GLUTEN FREE! The waiter was very knowledgeable about celiac and reassured me they take every precaution to make their gluten free items safely. I had the pancake trio and it was sooooo delicious! I can’t wait to go back for the French toast! I had no reaction after eating here. What a blessing!
Yummiest breakfast and pancakes ever for a celiac like me!
Excellent food, carefully prepared as illustrated by the extra time they took cleaning the kitchen prep area so don’t arrive in a rush, or let them know ahead of time. Numerous choices - they don’t even mark the items on the menu and say everything can be made gluten free, but be prepared for substitutions (GF bread in place of English muffins on the numerous varieties of eggs Benedict).
Also note the hours: they are strictly a morning place and are close at 2:30pm.
A very small caveat: their black tea seemed to have a fruit added - unexpected and not our fave, but I’m sure they would have replaced if asked.
Yummy place! I got the OMG! French Toast. All of their pancakes or French Toast could be made GF. My kids ordered apple juice and chocolate milk with their meals. The apple juice was so yummy, more like cider. My son said it was like eating an apple. The chocolate milk was thick and chocolatey. Only complaint is that portion sizes were on the smaller side and we all left still feeling a little hungry. Kids plates needed another pancake with it. My plate could have used an egg or side of bacon...something. Definitely would come here again.
Staff was very knowledgeable about allergy options. We are gluten, dairy, and soy free. All of their gluten free options contained dairy. Other than that the food was very good and so was the wait staff. They use mixes so they can’t swap ingredients out to help make allergy free dishes. Had a good time and enjoyed the food despite our limited choices.
lots of options, food comes out marked for allergy
Oh man. Idk. I went here after reading the below reviews. I did not really have a good experience. I’m sure it depends on server.
There is nothing labeled on the menu as gluten free. There is not a gluten free menu.
I was told by the manager they could make anything on the menu gluten free (which I’m not sure I fully believe because they kind of blew me off when I questioned flavored bacon and drinks). I felt blown off really. But they did say they had a completely separate area in the back for gluten free food.
The thing that really bothered me was that they properly labeled my pancake but my eggs and bacon came out at the same time and in the same hands as my son’s non gluten pancake. I didn’t eat it I cried because I was hungry. 🤷♀. I will say another server saw my frustration and jumped in and remade those items for me but at that point I didn’t trust anything except the pancake.
Ate the pancake. It was pretty good. No stomach issues but the whole rest of the situation was sad. :/. Went home and ate my own sausage at home.
