Incredible experience. I counted 3-4 things that weren’t GF but everything else is. Separate fryer, well trained staff so no worry about cross-contamination. I had the pimento grilled cheese and onion rings. Seriously? You won’t believe the options; I kept asking questions because I didn’t. Finally the patient waitress said anything that says GF is GF. To top it off, the food is delicious.
Almost everything on the menu is gluten free. The owner has celiac disease and the restaurant was made for celiacs! Lots of yummy comfort food. I have really enjoyed the fried chicken, fried catfish, and the grit fries! They also have a great bourbon selection. This is a must visit if you are celiac or have a wheat allergy. Make a reservation because it gets busy.
Food was great. Staff seemed very knowledgable. Items that are amayas gluten free without modification are marked GF. Items that can be made gluten free are marked GFA. They have a dedicated gluten free frier.
Ate here with my family. We got all the appetizers gluten free and all of the appetizers I wanted to try.
The grit fries and Brussel sprouts were delicious. Both of these were amazing.
I also got the fried chicken, mac & cheese, and french fries. The fried chicken is light like a fish fry. The mac and cheese is more like a New England cream sauce style. And fries were delicious. I saved the Cajun cream sauce from the grit fries to dip my chicken and French fries into. I haven’t had fried chicken in over a decade so it was a nice treat. I made the non celiacs at the table try it too and it passed the taste test.
My mom also got the beef tenderloin and risotto so we shared some of that. The wine reduction was amazing. Risotto creamy as expected with a great flavor from the veggies and the beef was tender and flavorful.
We got the rosemary grapefruit margarita and loved it. They had some gluten free cocktail options as well.
We also ordered dessert to go. Haven’t tried that yet but I have high expectations.
Fun fact there is also a speakeasy by the bathrooms behind a secret bookcase.
Was also pet friendly brought my two dogs and sat on the outdoor section.
Overall the price range was as expected. Specials like the tenderloin are $30 and the friend chicken is around $14-16 per entree.
It started out great. I ordered the gluten-free fried green tomatoes as well as the gluten-free crabcakes. Both were delicious. I also ordered the blackened grouper sandwich and onion rings. I let the waitress know multiple times that I have celiac and needed everything to be gluten-free. When they brought my sandwich out, it was a different waiter, and I confirmed that it was indeed gluten-free, but she looked at it and said no. She then handed it to another waiter and said this needs to be gluten-free and I said please do not take the fish off of that bread and stick it on a gluten-free bun. The other waiter looked at her and said, “Oh- I can’t do that?”
My anxiety kicked in at that point, and I pulled both of them to the side and explained how serious this was and I cannot have my food which is contaminated, taken off and just placed onto a gluten-free bun. They assured me that they would be remaking the entire dish, which they did, but the rest of my party was done eating by the time my food came out. A pleasant birthday lunch turned into a nerve-racking experience.
I’m a super symptomatic celiac and always so so scared to eat out. After reading so many positive reviews I decided to go for it and overall had a great experience! Almost the entire menu is gluten free or can be made gluten free. They only use rice flour in the kitchen so all friers are safe. The food I had lacked some seasoning but otherwise it was good. And I didn’t get sick which is the most important part. Would definitely return!
Such an amazing restaurant - the food was delicious and almost everything coulf be made gluten free. What's more, they had an actual kids menu with great options (not just chicken strips) that was almost all GF and had our picky kids begging for seconds. Thumbs up all around.
Absolutely amazing place. I’m a very sensitive celiac and I’m always so terrified to try new places. Almost everything on the menu is gluten free and they are extremely cautious of cross contamination. Their fried green tomatoes, onion rings, and lamb stroganoff are my absolute favorites. I HIGHLY recommend eating here! <3
I went here with a group of friends for dinner. They wanted me to choose the place so that I could be sure to have options. I am so glad I found this place on the app! Not only were there plenty of choices, the food was absolutely delicious! Definitely get the Brussels-yum! We also had the grits fries, pot roast, and salmon. Everything was great.
My daughter has celiac, and she loved this place where they went out of their way to make lots of mouth watering options available. She detests all things tomato, but upon their suggestions she discovered that she loves fried green tomatoes. The onion rings alone were worth the two hour drive here. And the desserts were delectable! She is very sensitive to gluten and since the restaurant’s owner is gluten free, everyone there is very careful; she did not get a gluten exposure!
Wow. I have not had a meal like this in the 10 years I have been gluten free. Perfect crispy onion rings. Fried green tomatoes with a nice dressing topped with feta. Grit fries with a tomato gravy were great. The burger’s bun never fell apart through the entire meal, that never happens with a gluten free bun. The cole slaw was tasty. Even the sandwich pickle was craft made, it tasted like a bread and butter pickle with balsamic vinegar and garlic. I can’t believe a truly inventive meal that tasted gourmet and gluten free. That is so rare. Thank you. I have really missed food that makes my taste buds sing.
Loved this place! Almost everything is GF or can be prepared GF. Food tasted good and there was lots of it! I was there with coworkers and we split the Brussel sprouts and fried green tomatoes. I had a half chicken with sweet potato mash and asparagus and carrots cake for dessert.
I liked this restaurant before being diagnosed with celiac and LOVE it now! The first place I’ve eaten where virtually everything on the menu was an option as many dishes are gf and most others can be made gf for a $2 up charge. Great patio and service and a wonderful date night experience that felt so normal!
The menu offers many GF options. They can make many entrées both dairy free and gluten-free. Service is great, meaning polite and knowledgeable. More importantly, the service is welcome to the GF community of eaters.
Our waiter, Kai was great. The menu was marked clearly GF and they even have an option to make other things gluten friendly if needed. He was very reassuring. I had fried grouper, mashed potatoes, fried onion rings and the best thing on the menu were the grit fries. No belly aches.
Fantastic food!!! The onion rings are wonderful! So good a new must go back stop when in town!!
Almost the entire menu is gluten free - either marked GF or GFA (gf available). Their menu changes seasonally. They take celiac and cross contamination very seriously. Food was fantastic. I have eaten here a few times and felt very safe. There was a lot of variety, and food was delicious!
I eat here almost every single weekday. The fried green tomatoes are crunchier and more delicious than any I’ve tried including bantam and Biddy which I was obsessed with before I found my favorite restaurant. The fried chicken sandwich and the world famous sprig burger are amazing as well. All fried food in this restaurant is already gluten free and it’s crunchier than “normal” fried foods! Crowd pleaser!
Had a smorgasbord of gluten free fried seafood. Almond butter cake and pork. I actually didnt like the pork or broccoli so I would recommend something else but everything else and the service was so good it didn't really take away from the overall amazingness of this restaurant. Had the most down to earth waitress ever. Can't wait to go back
Really good seasonal food and a ton of gluten free choices! We had fried green tomatoes, fried deviled eggs (which were more like hard boiled eggs) and for my entree I had shrimp and grits. It was so good! I Highly recommend it. Could come back here repeatedly because of the variety!
