Our waitress was very nice but didn’t know what I meant or ask any questions when I shared that because I have celiac disease I need to eat completely gluten free, so I welcomed suggestions for plain steamed or boiled seafood options. I wound up with the steamed shrimp, which were chilled and supposed to only have old bay on them, with a water. I felt sick after we ate, and I have no idea if it was the food, cross contamination, or something else, but I wouldn’t suggest it to other folks with Celiac. Or, if you go, just stick with something from the bar instead.

We had a great waitress! She was knowledgeable about gluten free items and what she didn’t know she promptly asks the cook without hesitation! We had a window seat right by the beautiful ocean. I love the way the inside is decorated with sea shells. The food was fantastic and the waitress suggested trying grilled grouper and it was fantastic! I got the slaw with it to much vinegar for me. Fries are not gluten free they are lightly battered. I just looked over the menu and asked if items were gluten free and the waitress directed me. I didn’t ask about cross contamination.

Ask the server about items that can be made gf. It is hard to eat gf in Cedar Key, but Steamers has some menu items that are not fried. Other things they can modify to be gf.
