We found Sushi San through the Find Me Gluten Free app and it was very good! They have a lot of gluten free options and take food allergies very seriously. My gluten-eating husband really liked his sushi, too. Finding a good sushi place when you have celiac disease is difficult and this place is very good!

Always an amazing experience here! Pre and now with celiac. Online menu marks what is gf or can be made gf. I called the restaurant with a question and the host had to ask the kitchen but came back with a clear answer.

When ordering online we could put in specific instructions related to celiac and all of the food came marked in separate containers with the exact message printed in them! Felt fine after the meal which is always a win.

Sushi San is the best place I have ever been to with allergies. They are so careful, knowledgeable, kind and still make the food taste amazing!!!!! BEST PLACE EVER IN CHICAGO WITH ALLERGIES.

Staff was knowledgeable and can make many items GF. But I got sick within 30 minutes of eating for rest of day—def a cross contamination issue. I had seaweed salad and spicy tuna roll. Food was delicious but not safe for celiacs.

Delicious food! The server confirmed my meal selection was safe with the kitchen, and the kitchen had separate order tickets in a different color so they would know it was an allergy order.

Amazing at accommodating me with my GF allergy. They have gluten free soy sauce and other sauces and were very careful with what they brought out. Everything was labeled on menu of what you could get. 100% recommend!

Immediately upon sitting down they asked if I had any dietary restrictions. GF menu items were marked and they made the necessary adjustments to menu items to ensure they were GF. They also have GF soy sauce!

I ordered only GF rolls but still got very sick with 30 minutes of finishing. My waitress had celiac herself and said they were safe, so it must have been cross contamination. Very disappointing.

Staff was very well informed about celiac disease, and they had tons of options that are rare to find GF (spicy tuna, for example). They also brought me a labeled gluten free soy sauce bottle. The fish was so fresh! Highly recommend!

Favorite food is sushi and traditional sushi rice contains gluten (depends on the type of vinegar used). Was so thrilled to get to eat nigiri, Gf soy sauce available too. First question wait staff asked was if any allergies/dietary restrictions at the table and spoke in depth about avoiding CC. Felt very confident they would provide us a safe meal and they did. Menu is clearly marked for what items can be prepared GF.

We dined on a Monday evening and although reservations were full, we were able to get a walk up table for a party of 3. One of us has Celiac. The menu is marked with GF and is accesible online and by QR code. Clicking on the camera icon shows the entree and gives detailed information. The waitress asked if cross contamination was acceptable when told one in our party had Celiac, the answer “no” was noted with the order. We ordered miso soup, nigiri 8 pc. sushi labeled GF and a salmon asparagus roll, GF. The nigiri orders contained a soy sauce marinated salmon that when asked about, was substituted with fresh salmon. Everything was delicious, top quality and fresh. GF soy sauce was brought to the table and offered when asked to box up leftover sushi roll. Highly recommended- felt safe and did not get sick.

Wonderful experience! I had miso soup and sushi rolls. They gave me gluten free soy sauce as soon as I said I was gluten free. And the menu was clearly marked.

Excellent experience and my very sensitive daughter did not get sick. Menu is clearly marked and waitstaff demonstrated knowledge and desire to keep us safe. Also made it not a big deal and that made us feel so welcome. Best sushi I’ve had in years and we love sushi and live on the west coast where options are plentiful. Beautiful space, kind and attentive staff, and great, safe food. We will go out of our way to come back.
