It's SO rare to have a GF ramen option that my excitement for this place almost forgives the extra expensive price. The ramen is delicious - rich and flavorful with a few different options to choose. All the GF ingredients are separate from the regular ramen in the kitchen and they do boil in separate water! The noodles are imported from Japan, thus the extra pricing. But like I said the ramen is good and the offering so rare I can justify the bump. I hope the GF option their menu finds a lot of fans so that other restaurants will follow suit. They do not have GF soy sauce in house so fried rice is t an option. It seems they also have some soy sauce in their proteins in the ramen so that makes their 100% GF claim suspect. A manager said it has all been tested and passes the GF minimum (assuming 20ppm) but worth noting for Celiac.
Their ramen is fantastic! Basically all ramen bowls (except for Soul) can be made GF- though for $6 in addition to the bowl price. I recommend ordering your ramen 20min before everyone in your group since they have to make the gluten free ramen from scratch in a safe area- even your ramen bowl color is different so the servers know. I've eaten here twice now and had no reactions.
Delicious gluten free ramen from a ramen bar is a dream come true! I loved the food because it's lab tested for gluten and delicious. Note: It may be hard to gain staff attention because the ordering process is self served- the restaurant was also super busy. However, speak to the host and they'll guide you on your gluten free options.
this was the most ridiculous resturaunt ive ever been too in LA. i was expecting something amazing...no...not at all. the wait alone was 45 minutes and you have to wait outside. not to mention the rude waiters. Aside from this, the ramen was the most grossest thing ive ever had, just take normal gluten free noodles (italian) from a grocery store and put it in miso soup. GROSS. Not to mention, there was an EGG in my noodles that was raw on the inside....and this was normal, but it still makes my skin crawl even the day after. i didnt finish it and i could not take it. $12 for a normal ramen bowl but because of "gf" they added an extra $6 which made my bowl over priced and ridulous. on top of all of thi, this is not safe for any celiacs they are re using the same spoons to fill other bowls as well as urs....i asked if the chilli powder was gluten free and the response to this was..."gluten free? well its not like itz bad for you!". at that point i was about done. This wasnt worth $52 and its just water mixed in regular corn noodles! so disappointed....my skin is still crawling of how gross it was....my food is coming back up writing this...
The Host/Manager was super knowledgeable and explained that all the ramens but one could be made GF. Not just noodle replacement but they adjust broth and other ingredients too to ensure GF. I had the chicken ramen so far but will go back. Pretty good as far as GF ramen goes. Only downside is the insane price. 5$ extra for GF and with tax and tip you’ll be paying 25$ for ramen
The Hippie ramen was SO GOOD! Gotta say, I have my doubts about the kitchen setup and celiac safety- we were sitting at the bar and I'm quite sure I saw one of the cooks stirring both gf and non gf ramen with the same utensil. But I didn't get sick (I have celiac) and it was stock delicious. I would go back.
Omg. I haven't had legit ramen in 2 years (since being diagnosed), and it was an absolute pleasure to eat it again. The staff was super kind and really took care of me like personally telling the staff to change gloves, when I explained that I had Celiac. (Though apparently they always change gloves for every GF order). So happy to have found this place!
Delicious ramen and delicious gluten free options! The iPad ordering is a cool added feature, and you can customize your order in multiple ways, including +$6 for gluten free noodles. There are many sides available, including a ramen wagyu burger, white rice, fried rice and more. I got the cheeky ramen with gluten free noodles, which came out in a different colored bowl to indicate GF. This is the first time I’ve been able to have gluten free ramen at a restaurant since being diagnosed with celiac. My boyfriend had the ramen burger and regular ramen, which he enjoyed too. The ramen was flavorful and had large pieces of meat that weren’t fatty or tough. Definitely would return here!
Have gluten free on their menu. Really modern place, you order on an iPad and show your ticket to get seated. I had the Cheeky Ramen which was delicious. It came in a red bowl separate from the gluten containing ramen. Would recommend for the experience and the food.
Amazing ramen! Extremely knowledgeable about celiac disease. They use different colored bowls for gluten free, cook it in a separate area, trained in cross contamination. My favorite is the Bold Ramen. Super flavorful and the noodles are delicious!!!! Almost all the ramen bowls can be made gluten free, just select gf noodles on the iPad menu. Really cool vibe, lots of open group seating.
Oh my God. The GF chicken ramen was stupendous. But at 20 bucks a pop it’s a good thing I live in the SF Valley. Still a wonderful treat and something I didn’t think I could enjoy again being GF. Highly recommended.
Their Gluten Free ramen is lab tested and is 100% gluten free. They actually had it tested to make sure it was safe specifically for people with Celiac Disease. It's my go to gluten free place in LA. It's delicious!
