I read reviews in this app that said servers were knowledgeable of gluten free items and procedures, but that was definitely not my experience. Thankfully I had the foresight to eat a little before leaving because my server did not know what celiacs was and tried to tell me the wings were “probably” gluten free when I know they have a shared fryer. I strongly recommend going elsewhere if you have celiacs.

My wife and I visited yesterday about passing by this restaurant several times, and it was amazing! The gluten free bread they had (made from yucca) was probably the best gf bread I’ve had in my life!
The waitress was extremely knowledgable about all the dishes and whether they could be made GF, and most of them could be! 10/10! :)

Food was great and the wait staff was extremely knowledgeable about GF restrictions and the menu. They were aware of the cross contamination risk and explained what was truly GF Vs what was in a shared fryer, etc.

Delicious and safe meal. Waiter Fidal was very knowledgeable and helpful when selecting meal. Table rolls safe but sandwich rolls are wheat. Most meal selections and sides are safe but always double check. Pollo a la Parrilla, Tostones, yuca mash and sauted kale side :-))))

Insane good. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Dinner rolls are amazing, as is the twice fried steak.

Excellent restaurant! Waitstaff knowledgeable and patient with gluten intolerance. Dinner rolls are GF made from yucca flour. Menu does not designate GF but waiter was happy to help me. Fryer is not dedicated so plantain chips are cross contaminated. Other than that, the salmon tartar appetizer and sea bass main course were delicious. Can’t wait to go back!

We’d been to the Cuban before for a great Sunday Brunch with our older son, a Stevens student, who considers it one of Hoboken’s best. Our younger son, however, has Celiac and is therefore very limited in terms of what and where he can eat. Since it was the younger’s birthday, he originally chose the Hoboken Bare Burger (see my review), where he has had good, celiac safe meals. However, after some research, we (party of 7) found ourselves at The Cuban and are very happy we did! Waiter was very knowledgeable and consulted with chef to be sure our son was safe from gluten. He had the amazing warm yucca rolls, filet mignon, white rice, spinach, black beans and flan for dessert. The waiter even told him which appetizers he could and couldn’t have (octopus yes, but not plantain chips because they were fried with the empanadas). The rest of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals (not necessarily gluten free). Guacamole with plantain chips, beef empanadas, and octopus apps were all great. Seafood paella, grilled hanger steak with garlic shrimp, and the pollo a la parrilla were all excellent, as well. So all in all, a fantastic birthday dinner treat for a teenager with celiac - no reaction to the food at all, besides the blissful “food coma” afterward. Everyone else was very impressed with their meals and service, too. We will definitely be back! Kudos to the Cuban for its conscientious staff and fantastic menu. Note: as is the case with many Hoboken restaurants, tip is automatically included for larger parties.

The food was delicious. They were very knowledgeable. The rolls were a very fun treat for my daughter. Their fryer is not a designated fryer which eliminated the yuca fries, but it was no big deal. If you go with kids they can share as the portions were very generous. We had so much food left over!
Although this restaurant is not a "gluten free establishment" they have many g-free options. The waitstaff was extremely knowledgable and attentive to my needs. Plus the food is absolutely delicious!

This place does not have a menu, but the staff is knowledgeable. Almost all of the items are gluten free already. The bread they bring to the table is made from yucca flour and is also gluten free. I had a really good meal here.
