We go to the Irish Cottage frequently and it is always a positive experience. I have celiac disease and also have to eat daily free. I've never had a problem. Servers are well trained and will always check with the kitchen if there are any questions. Best burgers and fries!
Didn’t feel comfortable trying anything but the salad but things were marked gf on the menu. They talked about celiac specifically on the menu. I still wasn’t super confident eating there.
Stopped on the way back from Canobie Lake Park. Wide variety of options. The waiter told me that one of the owners has a gluten allergy and is very careful. Ordered nachos for an appetizer and then a burger on a gluten free bun with french fries. It all came out delicious!
I'm not giving three stars because of the quality of the food. In fact I didn't eat there. I checked their menu online and they had several items marked as gluten free that seemed questionable. So I called and asked. Sure enough, they are not gluten free. Since I can't trust that they know what is and isn't gluten free then I won't eat there.
I was curious because it was the first menu I had seen that actually mentions celiac. My 4 year old daughter has celiac and the owner went over the entire menu and told us what would be safe. Had nachos and no reaction. I am very thankful for the extra attention from the owner and would recommend!
The Irish Cottage just opened their new location across the street from their old one. It's beautiful! I had gluten free breakfast there two days in a row without any problems. Omelettes in a separate pan, hash browns in a dedicated fryer and gluten-free toast and buns. Be careful of the Bloody Mary mix. I had mine with just tomato juice with spices and was fine.
The Irish cottage used to be good. They used to have a gluten free separate menu and they used to care. I did not feel that tonight. I informed the server 3 times that I had a gluten and dairy allergy but she didn't seem to understand. I then had my starter salad and once I was finished I found cheese in the bottom, a good 5 pieces of it. This means there is cross contamination. I wouldn't come back soon
I come every time I'm in town for work and usually for multiple nights because I feel safe ordering and have never had an issue. I order things I would feel safe ordering anyway like steak tips with potatoes. I'm not about to eat something with beer in it, no matter what the menu says. The red blend wine is quite decent and the staff is always friendly with good service.
The Manager was better about coming to check the meal before but it is still good good with good portions. Lots of choices that are very unique for celiacs. You can get good apps and good meals. Something for everyone.
I recently went to the Irish cottage and I ordered food from the menu, food that is marked with a GF can be made gluten free, the staff informed me which menu items could be made gluten free, they have a separate fryer for French fries I was told , I ordered sweat potato fries and fish and did not get sick so thank you to the Irish Cottage, I have a severe gluten allergy and normally I just sit and watch every one else eat. It was nice to be able to eat out and not get sick after
They have a GF menu but you have to request the dish be gluten-free or it may not be. The staff here is very well trained. The moment you mention an allergy the wait staff is supposed to get a manager. The manager talked with me, understood my allergies, took my meal choices to the kitchen, verified them with the chef, came back to my table explained everything then put the order in. A long process but so worth it to have a safe dining experience out!
Celiacs stay away!! One of the worst gluten free dining dining experiences I've ever had. They pretend they are gluten free but they really have no idea what they are talking about. Thankfully I trusted my instincts because the manager came over 75% into the meal to tell us the food the server insisted was gluten free was not. I was also told the menu was for people with a light gluten intolerance. They shouldn't be advertising as gluten free!!!
The Manager came out and sat down to review the breakfast menu. They have a very great staff and are very knowledgable about GF requirements and individuals needs. You will not be disappointed.
Awesome experience! Great GF menu. Even got to eat french fries since they have a dedicated fryalator! I had the pastrimi sandwich on a GF roll. The roll was so good that after one bite I stopped eating so I could confirm it was GF with the waitress!
I have never had a bad gluten free meal here. The servers always double check with the chefs on menu items and make sure that there is no cross contamination. However they do have certain items that only gluten free can have, not celiac, which makes the menu a little misleading but like I said they make sure my meal is safe. I would recommend this place for a good meal
It was the first restaurant that cared enough to come talk to me. They have a wide verify of Gluten Free food to choose from. My number one favorite so far.. I was blown away on how much they cared..
The gluten free menu includes items that are cross contaminated. The menu states that if you have Celiac Disease, please let the staff member know and they will send the chef out to speak with you. The chef explained that the French fries are cooked in a common fryer with breaded items , and therefore not celiac friendly. Pretty much everything else on the GF menu was okay except one soup which was made with a beer base. I got a corned beef sandwich which came on a gluten free roll, and the roll was one of the best that I have ever had. I really enjoy the atmosphere, and look forward to going there again.
The gf menu is misleading... Some items on it are not gluten free, they do not have a dedicated fryer, so the cottage fries can't be done, although it's on the menu. The Onion soup is made with Guinness... On the gf menu, etc, this menu is for the gf lifestyle rather than the allergy/disease plagued...
