I just want to give a BIG shoutout to The Keg in Cambridge, ON 👏
I went to The Keg for my brother’s birthday/Father’s Day tonight and when I told my waitress I was celiac, she gave me a quick rundown of what they offer that is gluten free and what alternatives to some of the menu items they could do (including that their Keg steak spice has “may contain wheat” on the label). A few minutes later, another staff member came up to me and introduced himself as one of the staff members who oversees customer satisfaction. He went on to explain that he was informed of me having celiac disease and explained in further detail the steps the kitchen was taking to ensure there would be no gluten in my meal as well as no cross contamination. He was the only one who handled my plates when I was served, and explained further as he served me my meal, what was done to ensure my meal did not come in contact with gluten including that they washed my plate again right before plating my meal for an extra precaution! Going into month six of this diagnosis I was so appreciative that The Keg took my dietary restrictions seriously (and understood what it meant!), asked questions including “is it ok to have bread on the table for the rest of your party?” and told me their paper straws are also gluten free. Oh and they have soap labelled gluten free in the bathrooms! (It’s the little things). I felt safe and enjoyed my meal immensley!! My parents made a point of thanking both our waitress and the Customer Satisfaction Manager (sorry I can’t remember if this was his proper title) for the care and attention they gave to me to ensure I was safe when eating out as they have seen me over the last few months struggling to eat out. I was able to safely celebrate with my family and it means the absolute world to me as I’m still learning and coming to grips with this diagnosis. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I had the filet mignon. It was very good. The menu had gluten-free options marked. The servers seemed knowledgeable to allergens. The only issue was when they brought out my food they were actually holding two plates and the plate above mine had gluten containing items. I had no issues.

Great experience dining with a celiac. The Keg takes allergies seriously. Once we arrived at our table, we told the waitress about the allergy (celiac). She responded with the items he could order. The manager is notified and delivered the food. This is standard procedure there now. I was very impressed with the service and care. Of course the food was amazing!

The Keg is a go-to for reliable gluten free dining. The manager always comes to the table to review our order and let us know what precautions they are taking in the kitchen. 100% recommend
