Great staff but honestly it’s just not safe. There were left over bread crumbs on the bowl, it was dirty inside the bowl from other meals....... great people truly but just not safe They know the talk but they can’t walk the walk
I wish zero stars was an option. This was one of the most disgusting dining experiences of my life. The food( that was very expensive by the way) was old and dried out and had obviously been shipped in and not prepared fresh. I'm terrified to know how old the stale bread was. We took two bites canceled the rest of our order and left. I did not get sick at least, but don't waste your money at this place.
As someone who worked at this Melting Pot, I can say for certain that they NOT Celiac friendly. Servers would cut bread directly next to the salad dressing, dipped bread into sauce containers, and overall had no concern for guests’ allergy restrictions. Not all locations are like this, but the one in Montgomery/Cincinnati should absolutely be AVOIDED.
My experience at this location was much more positive than what was described in the older comments. I had called ahead to make a reservation for two adults for a two-course meal with a note about my need to eat gluten-free, as recommended on the website. The service was just okay (the waiter was a bit odd), but at least the wait staff was knowledgeable about what was safe for me to eat. This is just a personal preference, but I wish I had had less raw vegetables and more gluten-free bread with my Classic Alpine cheese fondue, as I am not a big fan of raw veggies. The cheese fondue was very flavorful and filling. The chocolate fondue (bananas foster, in our case) was delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. There were even gluten-free yellow cake and brownies to dip in the pot! For anyone unaware: I would use caution with the fondue, as it can be very hot and easily burn your tongue. Despite only ordering the two-course meal, the other party and I felt satisfied without feeling stuffed. The pricing for our meal was reasonable, given that dessert, in the form of chocolate fondue, was included. I would definitely consider eating here again.
Super super gluten free place. Have gluten free bread for dipping in melted cheese. Meats, vegetables and you cook them at the table in a separate pot from others not eating gluten free. The best is the melted chocolate for dessert...separate fondue for gf and gf pound cake, brownie, fruits, marshmallows for dipping in the chocolate. And our waitress also ate gluten free....she was a great help.
Our waiter had no idea what cross-contamination is. They do offer gluten free but they took no precautions whatsoever. Carrying, pouring, stirring, dripping stuff across the plates of gluten free food and person we had just told him was extremely sensitive to gluten. My daughter ended up eating nothing at all there.
Staff was helpful, friendly and seemed to understand what was needed for someone with Celiac.. However, even after being served absolutely plain vegetables and filet mignon, which was cooked on a tabletop grill (new option).. I did become ill.. granted, I’m a very sensitive Celiac, but I will probably not eat there again. I feel that there may have been some cross contamination issue in the kitchen due to personnel not well trained in handling food for people with my sensitivity. We were a party of seven with 6 normal diners who had a great time.
Update- Had dinner there 1/3/19. They were fantastic. They have gf down and are extremely knowledgeable. I had a great meal. I had dinner there two days ago 6/19/18. It was amazing. I dined with non-celiac friends so needless to say I was concerned about cross contamination. It was great! We had cheese and chocolate, which were both gluten free. Instead of having the whole table deal with the gluten free dippers ( bread), I opted to get separate bowls to put my cheese and chocolate selections in although there was no way to keep it hot. I took my portion first. They brought out separate dippers for me on a glass tray, not the wooden one. The waiter told me about each ingredient as he put everything together. They used Udis multigrain rolls which worked well with the cheese along with apples and veggies. I also got GF brownies, snickerdoodles, and marshmallows to go with my fruit for the chocolate. This was a great experience, they were very helpful, and the food was delicious! We had a gluten-free dairy free meal and we are supersensitive and did not get sick. Nice to eat with the rest of the family! This place was a lot of fun. We had a party of nine and they give you two burners. Four of us had to eat gluten free dairy free so there was no cross-contamination. You can’t get more than two burners on the table I don’t think. Highly recommend! They have a vegan gf cheese and they use Redbridge gluten free beer in the cheese fondue. We had a four course meal - cheese fondue, salad, entree and dessert that uses Enjoy Life dark chocolate.
Wonderful gluten free choices. The cheddar fondue can be made with gluten free beer and served with a soft fresh gluten free bread along with the appetizer veggies. Then great options for meats and lobster. The dessert chocolate fondue comes with fantastic gluten free chocolate brownies and vanilla cake. We can't wait to return! No bad reactions.
Wow! We haven’t been here in 10 years. I looked at their menus the other day, realizing they now did gluten free I was so excited to be able to take our son. We had a table of 3 and we all did gluten free so there was no cross contamination. They were so accommodating! Bonus they don’t charge extra for GF! we will def be back.
Went for my anniversary and it was wonderful! We had the California salad, Wisconsin Cheddar cheese fondue, and the Bananas Foster chocolate fondue. They really understand Celiac and all was done well, except that the waiter brought out a plate of non-gluten free dippers with dessert. I figured it out before we ate it though because there were just too many options there for it to be GF. The cheese fondue was made with Red Bridge beer and the dippers that came with it included a brownish GF bread (as opposed to the gluten filled white), apples, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and grape tomatoes. The chocolate fondue dippers had a gluten free angel food cake, marshmallows, bananas, strawberries, and pineapple.
We had an excellent experience. Wendy, Kristen, and a gentleman whose name we didn’t catch (but worked previously in healthcare /GI ) were knowledgeable about gluten free requirements and went out of their way to provide a gluten free dining experience.
Tried a new thing last night for Valentine's day. The food was good, and for the most part it was fun. We made sure to inform the restaurant when we made the reservation that I had celiac disease, they said they would be able to easily accommodate me and they would write down a note. We also told our waiter as soon as we sat, we told him that because we would be sharing the pot my husband's food would be gluten free as well because cross contamination was a big issue for me. Despite all of this prepping the waiter still brought out honey WHEAT bread, croutons on my salad, raviolis and a meat that was not gluten free! I had to babysit my waiter the whole night! Twice they turned off the burner and forgot to turn it back on making our food pot cool, and impossible to cook our main course. To add insult to injury the Valentine's day package included a picture. The picture is awful, the low lighting plus flash resulted in an extremely washed out shot. Not worth the very high price.
The staff made every effort to make sure that my experience was gluten free and had options for every course. They even have gluten free bread for the cheese fondue and gluten free brownies & snickerdoodles for the chocolate fondue. A wonderful experience!!
Update: This more recent time they did give us a bit more food, which was nice. It seems to vary from each location and also just each visit is a tad different. The prices are still high, but the food is good. I have been here many times. This place is expensive but the food is very good. They have recently changed a few things though. We used to get a lot of food so we would leave very full and felt it was worth the money. But now, they do not give you as much food so I was not full when I left. Since it is so expensive, and now we get less food, it makes me not want to go back.
Would give them ten stars if possible. Amazing food and experience. They even have cocktails marked! Plus gf bread, cupcakes, and brownies for dessert. Most of the menu is gf and they are very competent in cross contamination. Did not get sick and left stuffed. I recommend a reservation though.
Omg people this is the best place in the world such a beautiful food experience they have the best options for gluten allergies if you can get your own burner u don't have to worry about getting contaminated by the people in you crowd it was so awesome my kids loved it everyone has to go there at least once
They really know what they're doing in regard to GF, but also in regard to extracting money from you! This may be my wife's favorite restaurant but it sure is a lot of cash to dip stuff in cheese. I am happy to let her go with her friends so my wallet hurts less.
I ordered gluten free at the bar area where they do cheese and chocolate fondue - and salads After I told the server I was celiac with our cheese order - and we had the same server for our cheese course as our chocolate course —— we were then given wheat “dippers” for the dessert. I almost dipped a wheat treat in the chocolate when he came back and asked “would you like to have gluten free dippers”. AAAARRGGHHH. I spoke to the manager before leaving and asked him to please bring this up at the next employee meeting. They should have comped our dessert for this scary of a mistake and close call.... and didn’t. We won’t be back.
I had an amazing dinner here, the waiter was so good and knowledgeable, the food was amazing, I mean amazing!! Even a full gluten free fondue dessert!! I would definitely recommend going here!! I’m celiac and very sensitive.
Our server was very knowledgeable and made sure everything at the table was gluten free for our anniversary dinner. My husband had to eat gluten free but the only thing he missed wad the teriyaki sirloin. They knew that nothing containing gluten could go in the pot with my food. They also had a gluten free dessert plate for the both of us. It includes brownies, pound cake, marshmallows, strawberry, banana and pineapple. Great experience!
Left very full & happy! GF Bread to dip in the spinach & artichoke dip, tons of options, and they brought out GF brownies to dip in our chocolate fondue! As long as everyone at your table abides to the GF options I would say this is Celiac safe.
The server knew exactly what I was talking about when I told her I had celiac disease. She was very knowledgeable about the ingredients in the food. The gluten free options were clearly labeled on the menu. Great experience!
My best gluten free experience! Everything GF is clearly marked on the menu, which is most of the menu. All sauces and salad dressings are GF. They brought me out GF bread to go with the cheese fondue and a special GF plate with brownies and pound cake with the chocolate fondue. I’d definitely go back!
Great experience with many gluten free options. Be mindful of dining with non gluten free people since you share oil and chocolate (you get 1-2 burners depending on party size). But this can be worked around by pouring chocolate and cheese on your plate rather than dipping and cookie glutened options last (and asking for multiple burners)
Amazing!!! 4 course meal, all gluten free! Everything from gluten free bread for our cheese fondue to gluten free pound cake and gluten free brownies for our chocolate fondue! Our server was very careful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend- just tell your server you need the table to be gluten free from the start.
