My family and I were in the area to visit my brother and his family, and we needed a place that was safe to eat while everyone else ate pizza. We made the trek down to The Mission from Belmont Park and it was so worth it! The people working there were so wonderful and careful, there was a surprisingly extensive gluten free menu, and the food tasted great and was very filling. We now want to travel back down to San Diego just to eat at The Mission again! As always, be sure to ask that the kitchen staff be as careful as possible with your food, and they will be sure to!

Good menu choices. I had the eggs and great breakfast potatoes. They make gf bread in house. They serve French toast but use the same batter as regular so I said no to that.

Tested the bread with my Nima, got a gluten found. Manager told me the bread has cross contamination because it’s made in their bakery, which makes the regular bread as well, and with flour everywhere, they can’t guarantee anything. Tested the eggs and potatoes and they were fine. Avoid their bread!

April 2019: We ate breakfast at The Mission today. They have a separate GF menu with many choices. My daughter has celiacs and is highly sensitive to gluten. She ordered the sausage, eggs and potatoes. (See photo.) There was also rosemary toast that came with her order (but she didn’t eat the toast because she’s a kid...only reason). She did not get sick. Food was good and servings were large. Very nice.

They have a gluten sensitive menu. Food is okay. Like 10 things to choose from so that’s good! I split a bunch of stuff with my family. The best thin was that they have gf rosemary toast!!

Food is awesome. Staff is knowledgeable and asked the chef when they weren't 100%. Ask for each item though because some things on the menu are not gf at all and some have cross contamination (French toast).

I ordered a gf/df club and after I was finished the waitress said she forgot that there was milk in the bread. Ugh. It was an ok sandwhich but not worth the raging belly I have now.

Loved my French Toast, Bacon, and Eggs on a rainy morning at Mission Beach.

Great service. Great knowledge. Loved it so much that I took a sandwich home too!

Too busy to wash pans, too small to prevent cross contamination. Bread source claimed to be made and processed in same facility that makes wheat breads with no separate ovens. Too many red flags for a celiac's safety. Ok for fad dieter in my opinion.

Loved the Rosemary bread (and blackberry jam). Would have given five stars but they got my order wrong the first time and brought my sandwich with cheese even though I ordered it without. Bread was thickly sliced and made it hard to eat the sandwich with my hands as it started to fall apart so I had to use a fork and knife.

I was very excited to have gfree French toast but then very disappointed to find out that they used the same batter on the regular french toast to dip the gfree French toast... Cooking surface is one thing, but batter filled with regular crumbs is another! I still had some very good chicken apple sausages and rosemary bread that was "just okay". Our server was nice... The atmosphere is nice as well... Just don't show up excited to have french toast! ;)

Great separate gluten free menu with large selection! Everything tastes wonderful! The The french toast is good (beware the French toast may have cross contamination because they use the same mix for both GF and regular bread)

good rosemary gf bread, but not impressed with service. our waitress, when asked if they were careful with cross contamination, said, "hope so." not what a severely sensitive Celiac wants to hear. I risked it anyways and had a nice sandwich.

Food was ok, ordered eggs over easy with my meal and scrambled eggs came out, they took those and didn't bring the others for about 15 minutes and I was done eating by then. We both left unimpressed, pretty generic breakfast food.

I’ve gotten sick every time I’ve eaten there. I was told the only thing that was unsafe on their gluten free menu was the French toast since it shared the batter. But last time we sat on the patio and I ordered the GF grilled bread and he was like “well that’s not safe because it’s grilled where the normal bread is grilled” and said that a lot of things are shared in the kitchen. I always wondered why I got sick when the other waitress we usually have said they take great care but I kept getting sick 😫

Ate here once, told them i was GF and either they gave me the regular bread or it was cross contaminated because I felt SO sick afterwards. I told them I was allergic so this should not have happened. If you eat here, make sure and ask repeatedly that you’re getting the GF bread option !!
