Good lunch experience in main dining room. Informed them of celiac and gluten issues and they took it from there and modified my prix fix meal. Not most sensitive to minor gluten exposure so hard to know 100% but they inspired confidence the food was excellent. This was in 2022 when i went. Went more recently and had less safe feeling experience.

Asymptomatic Celiac

Terrible service— asked for gluten free specifically and had my meal brought out with bread on it. Had it remade, and can’t speak to the cross contamination safety, as I am asymptomatic.

Gluten Intolerant

Delicious. This was my extra bit of art and theatre for visit to the MOMA. Most of the menu could be accommodated for gluten-free. Everyone I spoke to understood what coeliac meant. BUT it still pays to check when food delivered. I was eating son who is gluten intolerant and my with my husband who has no food allergies. The first course dish eggs eggs eggs came with toast, I though it looked so good I did my paranoid is “that GF toast”? Found out the “order” waiter who took my order had swapped seat number of my husband and I , so I was getting his brioche. Delivery waiter was very very apologetic and went straight back to the kitchen to inform chef team proper information. I guess this is flaw in the system a whole team gives a dining experience of a life time so we got an order waiter and different waiters delivering plate of food as well as an announcer to explain dish and pour sauce. So just the usual advice of talk and question things.

The gluten free bread was incredible!!! Ate too much of it so couldn’t finish dessert, I was told the secret is it comes from Everybody Eats Brooklyn https://everybodyeats-inc.com as kitchen at The Modern has admitted that can’t beat the quality and make it as safely.

Symptomatic Celiac

I ate in the bar room. They provided delicious gluten free bread that was served warm and buttered (I think it was grilled). I ordered the steak tartare. They totally understand Celiac and gluten free. I felt well taken care of. I was only hungry for one item. I have eaten there before in the bar area and they did well then too. It’s a beautiful midtown location and great if you want a drink or dinner after visiting the MoMA.
