Went for Sunday lunch yesterday. Had looked online first and was happy to see they had a separate gf menu. Got to restaurant and asked for the menu. They gave me a large folder with many pages of tiny writing. I asked for the gluten free menu they said they didn't have one. She then went to get a menu and came back with an out of date one and said I could look at that. So I asked for an item on the menu which wasnt available so had to study the book. I was made to feel like I was being awkward. I asked if it would be easier if I spoke to the chef and told them what I wanted and maybe he could tell me if it's gluten free. I overheard them talking about me while I waited at the bottom of the stairs. This almost brought me to tears. It was a horrible experience and if I wasn't with a large family group, at this point I would have left. So after studying for 10 mins we worked out what I could have. The food was ok, a bit lukewarm but nice, I didn't feel confident I was eating safely though. I stupidly thought ordering a pudding might be easier. I ordered a fruit cheesecake, by this time I'd figured out how to read the "book for the visually gifted." What arrived was a chocolate crunchie cheesecake. I was assured by a different server that she had checked and it was definitely gf. The base did look different and so I chanced it as I'm quite new to being gf and was a few weeks in to my new way of eating. But if I was a fruit lover I would have been disappointed. All in all it was a very upsetting & disappointing visit. The gluten containing meals were all ok. And the bar staff were very nice. Meals arrived in good time. But I don't think I'll return for a while.

Do not eat here if you're a Celiac. I asked if their menu was safe for me on arrival and the girl at the desk said she didn't know as she didn't eat there. Was given a huge folder of every ingredient in the restaurant, which was very overwhelming. No help from the staff but was told that all food was cooked and prepared in the same area and grill. I decided to go for a plain Salad and a plain Jacket Potato. I will not be returning here. ☹☹

Staff were amazing allergy folder handed straight to us on telling them we were gluten and dairy free.. they double checked everything with the chef and answered any questions that we asked happily. Food was cooked separately from any gluten items, all fries/chips made in a separate fryer. This beefeater pub was attached to the Premier inn that we stayed in so we had breakfast and dinner there twice. My daughter had the fried breakfast.. gluten free bread provided when asked for, no gluten free items were out with the buffet, so no risk of contamination and the bread was toasted in the kitchen so as to avoid cc in the toasters. She had Gammon one night with chunky chips.. and then a steak the next night. All good and no reactions would definately recommend. there is no separate menu as majority of the food can be made gluten free. My daughter had a very happy and full stay.
