I enjoyed tapas at The Port House. Allergens are labelled on the menu, though gluten free is a little more complicated - they do not have a dedicated fryer so anything fried is not suitable for coeliacs or others concerned with CC. The waiter could point to some options on the menu that could be adapted with gf bread but wasn't 100% clear on which menu items were unsuitable. I was part of a big group which might have limited their availability though. I also didn't love that they brought out all of the food for the table at once, so my gf choices weren't marked or brought out separately - you might be able to request this in a smaller group. Overall, the food was ok and I didn't get sick.

Told no separate fryer available so lots of dishes were out for me. Was assured there was coeliac menu when I booked so disappointed when I arrived as was really looking forward to it. Overall the food was tasty but limited. Server was unsure what coeliac was in terms of gluten sensitivity.

Update*****
I spoke with the manager of this restaurant twice who did an investigation with the chef and operations manager and concluded that the fryer was the issue with regard to cross contamination. The manager was extremely apologetic for the experience. They are looking into the issue for the future. The restaurant refunded my whole party's meal which was very generous. Double check in the future whether the fryer is shared or not but the manager here does take allergies seriously which is a very good sign.
(still taking a star off for the original experience but I would feel comfortable going to this restaurant again)
(Original review below)
I ate dinner here tonight with friends. I was very clear with the staff about my allergens and even marked them on the sheet you ordered from. The waiter even went to the chef and checked that the dishes I had chosen were safe. Unfortunately the dishes I ended up getting contained gluten and made me sick. I don't know if there was some miscommunication or if the chefs were just careless. The waiter came back to me and explained that the dishes themselves didn't contain gluten but that one of them may have been in a shared fryer. The staff had no understanding of what a person who is gluten intolerant experiences and that it isn't just a lifestyle choice. No effort was made to apologise to me for making me sick. I would not feel safe eating here again and absolutely do not recommend you eat here.

I thought given that they make the effort to use gluten free breadcrumbs and batter etc and note on their menu that these things are gluten free that would mean they were coeliac friendly but they don’t have a separate fryer so they’re not. Disappointing.

Stopped in for a late lunch and was really happy with the variety of tapas available—especially the fried ones! My favorites were the fried cheese with honey and the pepper stuffed with spinach. The service was good and I did not have a reaction to the food.

Amazing selection - such good food!

Delicious tapas! I loved that I could share without worrying about cross contamination. The staff was very knowledgeable about Celiac as well.
Yes
Absolutely amazing. The owner has celiacs so the menu is very straightforward with listing out all the common allergens, even which grain the gluten is from. Most of the menu is gf (breaded items use gf flour, so I had real calamari for the first time in years), and most other stuff can be modified to gf. Best tapas I’ve ever had, and my companions said the best tapas they had outside Spain. Great wine list, excellent food, decent prices, laid back but quaint atmosphere, and friendly and helpful staff. A hidden gem in Dublin. Definitely go here.
Yes
Outstanding selection for Coeliacs but make sure to let your server know as some dishes are marked as 'can be modified' to be gluten free - as we learned to out horror when the manchego board came out with bread on but they were brilliant & replaced the entire board. Vegetarian, gluten free options are second to none and himself has never felt unwell after a meal. The menu even has amazing gluten free deserts ment that we could share all the food we ordered which is a real treat! Add incredible wine, stunning celler location & friendly staff - this is easily our pick of Dublin city for experience, veggy & gluten free dining.
Yes
Tapas. Gluten-free options available for many of items on the menu.
Yes
Lots of GF options. Staff very attentive and happy to check with the kitchen on all items and what can be made GF. Will definitely be back.

Excellent food, marked with numbers what is gf - the gluten free croquetas are very nice!
My sister and I went here and had a generally middle of the road time. The food was okay, but not amazing. There are much better places in this area, specifically I recommend the Market Bar for a similar (but better) experience.
I got chicken skewers, fried potato wedges, and paprika almonds and it was all fine. I recommend grabbing the almonds if you go and ordering the aioli on the side of the potatoes because they will DRENCH them in it.
Initially I was told I could have their sliders but a second waiter told me I couldn’t because there was wheat in the meat. I ordered the empanadas instead after he specifically told me he could do it. Following that he came back and told me I could not have the empanadas.
Prepare to have your choices kicked around a bit because you might not be able to have your first option. I did not, however, experience any reaction afterwards.

This was a great find. Most of the meals can be made gluten free. The croquetas were awesome. Gluten free bread available for the dishes on toasted bread. Really great experience and highly recommend to check it out!
