Separate GF menu. Owners daughter has celiac and they are very educated on it. Had a skillet hash and also split the blueberry pancake with my family. All was delicious!!!

We went to a location (135th in Overland Park) specifically for gluten free menu and they were ‘out of’ gluten free pancakes. I would call ahead.
Fantastic celiac awareness. They put little sticks in it that say gluten free if you tell them you have an allergy. The menu is pretty robust and the staff is knowledgeable. Love the gluten free chocolate chip pancakes!

Overall the food was good. Gluten free fryer. Fries were good. Also had the BLT for lunch it was tasty and gluten free and dairy free. I have food allergies and I did not have any problems after eating here. Overall I was pleased service was slow.

My meal was flagged with gluten-free markers (always a good sign!) The food tasted good. Would eat here again! It is reassuring that the business owner's daughter has Celiac and that the menu says they use separate cooking utensils/skillets when preparing the food.

Got sick. Don’t chance it- I would avoid this place

I’m so sad to post this but my daughter got so sick after eating a gluten free pancake here. We loved this place before.
No
Great Gluten free menu! Staff very knowledgeable and no “allergy or preference” questions!
Yes
Owners have daughter with Celiac so they have a whole Gluten free menu. I choose the King Lives pancake. It was delicious! This place is a gluten free treat. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Sat at the bar and waited on by Andy. He made our experience delightful.

Delicious food, friendly staff, fun atmosphere. Gluten free done right.
I voted for this as the best breakfast in KC! I went for my birthday and had the Meg Ryan. I had the most delicious gluten-free pancake and it was huge! Everything was delicious and I didn’t have any digestive issues. I can’t wait to go again! The staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating to my food allergies. I feel like this is a very safe place to eat!

I finaply found tine to go, and on their busiest day. Long wait, but I heard it was worth it. Sunday's they only serve breakfast, no lunch which was dissapointing. My denver omlete had cheese, eggs, ham, and green peppers. It was overcooked on the outside, and almost undercooked on the inside. It was bland. Hash browns were brown on one side, so majority was not crunchy. I was excited to not be sick an hour later, but terribly dissapointed a few hours later when I ended up sick. I will go back to try their lunch sometime, but will be very diligent in how I order and ask a lot more questions. While their menu states CF and I believe they have trained their employees, we are always at risk. Overall, the omelette was not at all worth the 65 minute wait.
It was great, loved it. Will be going back soon
Best breakfast place I have ever been to. They put a stick on the plate to tell you it was prepared in the gluten free kitchen, sometimes they forget the stick and the waitress will double check or just get it remade to be sure. The gluten free pancakes are really good. You can do the "do it yourself meg ryan" on the regular menu and it can be gluten free or you have the gluten free menu. I normally get their white trash screwdrivers with titos. There was 1 time they messed up my drink and I got sick but before I finished it, the waitress in training came over and let me know what happened, made me a new one, and comped it. I felt bad for her because it wasn't her mistake and she knew how bad it could be for me. Other than that 1 moment that 1 time, I have not had any issues there and love taking my family and we have gone at least 3 dozen times.

Dedicated pans and fryer for gluten free food. My daughter had the gluten free chocolate chip pancake and loved it!

This is one of my FAVORITE breakfast places!! They have delicious gluten free options, including pancakes, sandwiches, and fries! The manager even told us that they could make crispy chicken tenders for us if we let them know in advance. I have been to this restaurant three times and have never been disappointed. I would definitely recommend this place!

Great prices for GF, didn't feel like I was being priced gouged. We enjoyed a pancake (as big as a plate), a skillet egg dish, and a delicious turkey sandwich on a delicious hoagie. This is our new favorite place in OP.

Absolutely love this place! I got an omelette with shredded hash and a chocolate chip pancake. Yes, a pancake! It was incredible. Our waitress was so friendly and very accommodating with my questions. I very rarely eat out because I worry about getting sick but Shack's has a dedicated skillet and preparation space AND my meal came with a Gluten Free flag to signal my allergy. The owners daughter has celiac and they have a specific gf menu. Can't wait to come back and try their lunch items

Literally the best place ever! Fried pickles, weekly GF specials, i could go ON!!

Lots of choices. Knowledgeable staff. I’ve eaten breakfast here twice, with no problems. Nice to have a delicious and reliable place to eat out—and my non-celiac friends LOVE it.

Great GF selections. Dedicated kitchen space. Yummy food. Fun atmosphere. Being very sensitive, having Celiac is hard when eating out. It’s fun to have a place where my whole family can enjoy (and I don’t have to cook!)

The staff was very knowledgeable. I off roaded from the extensive GF menu and they still kept me safe, navigating two severe allergies. Highly recommend and will look up next time I’m in STL or KC.
I loved their pan cakes and eggs.

This place is amazing for celiac suffers. Staff is aware of this issues & the manger came out & shared some of the training they had to go through to ensure no cross contamination. Pricing is great, we don’t feel penalized for having multi celiac suffers in 1 family. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Long wait but great food! My new favorite

Very impressed. The food is of exceptional quality full of flavor and excellent service. Ordered the Kitchen Sink, Mamas Boy and Zing Zang

The owner's daughter is celiac so education of staff on allergies is very important. He even makes the gluten free chicken strips for all of his restaurants himself. My gluten free pancake came to the table with a stick on it that said gluten free on it. It tasted amazing!

Amazing gluten free menu. Great food and wonderful service. They understand cc issues! Safe, yummy and fun place! We will be going back.

Ate here today after seeing lots of positive feedback on Facebook. Server was knowledgeable and my food came out with a gf toothpick. I felt very comfortable eating here and look forward to going back for their pancakes. I think they have a dedicated fryer and potentially dedicated space but I didn’t ask based on what I ordered. The menu says they use separate skillets and such for their gf meals. The owners daughter has celiac so it seems like they are very on top of gf food and prep.

The Owner’s daughter has Celiac, so they know what they’re doing. They have a dedicated fryer and they use dedicated skillets. We spoke with the manager, who was very knowledgeable. Best breakfast place in KC, especially if you have to be gluten free.

The Shack in Overland Park has amazing brunch!! I have Celiac Disease and I was super impressed with the extensive menu (the owner’s daughter also has Celiac Disease). I ordered a chocolate chip pancake the size of the plate, 2 sausage links, and French fries for about $15. Delicious food and enough for leftovers too. My friend ordered the breakfast burrito (not gluten free). Service was amazing as well. Fun atmosphere of writing on the walls.

Unfortunately, I have to lower my normal rating for The Shack. They used to have so many choices for gluten free but they seem to be paring down their gf menu. No peanut butter, no steak and egg breakfast, no corn tortilla for breakfast tacos. Just seems like they could have some extra items that wouldn't cost that much but would allow more options. Used to be so fun to come here. Still feel safe eating here but let's go back to more options, please. .
