Not worth it, it's not celiac friendly and the pizza was subpar. The crust was crisp on the bottom and gooey under the toppings, but not the good kind of gooey, the undercooked kind of gooey that sticks to your mouth. The toppings were fine... service was okay, it took around 30 minutes for everything to be ready and the cheesecake tasted good, but just had a slightly grainy texture.
Terrible experience here, got sick. I order an Angry Orchard cider and the waitress came back with what looked like a beer (draft). I asked and she said yes it was cider even after I noted it looked like beer. I took a sip.. and it was beer. Then we placed our order and made them aware of my celiacs to make sure the prep was gluten free. Pizza came out and they tried to give me my friends regular pizza. It was a good thing we ordered completely different types so I knew which was mine. I should have walked away at this point bc they obviously didn't know what they were doing. But I didn't. I ate and the pizza tasted great.. only 45 minutes later I was extremely sick. I do not recommend.
Whenever I'm in the JAX area a stop at Tommy's is a must-do. Love that they feature "Tommy's tomato pie" that naturally comes without cheese (as I am dairy-free as well) and that care is taken to ensure that the pizzas really are gluten-free. The crusts come from Still Riding Pizza Co. and are big enough to feed 1-2 people easily. See my full review on my blog: http://www.eatingoutwithout.com/2014/11/tommys-brick-oven-pizza-review.html
I was in JAX for business, and had planed to go to Mellow Mushroom for a GF pizza. Unfortunately, there was NO parking there, so I decided to try Tommy's. I got my pizza to go. (I also ordered a soda, paid for it, but never got it.) It smelled very good, but I started to eat it slowly, just in case it wasn't 100% GF. Thank goodness it was, because it was delicious! Not much in the way of atmosphere here, but if you want good GF pizza, this is the place to go. (Although the price is similar to most other GF pizza. My bill, with pizza, 1 soda and tax, was $17.)
GSXR must have issues that have nothing at all to do with Tommy's. This place has the best GF pizza in Jacksonville, bar none. Staff is friendly, extremely knowledgable and the GF pizza, soups and cheesecake are unparalleled. If you get there early enough, you can also score awesome GF cookies or brownies, but these sell out quickly and with good reason. Broccoli soup, Duchess cheese soup...I could go on all day. Seriously, just go there. Now! You'll become an immediate fan and advocate. I refer every GF person I meet to Tommy's.
Was upset, I ordered a calzone. It was nicely stuffed but tasted like charred remains from previously baked items due to it being burned. It was a small place so all the conversation between staff was heard including the excessive swearing and bad jokes and insults to one another. They say by the drink machine the whole time unless someone was ready to order. Felt like a badly managed business. Aside from that the gluten free pizza was not so great but compared to some others it was edible lol. If your looking for a good gluten free pizza Walmart has a fantastic frozen one for $8 but still hunting for a good restaurant ordered one that matches.
Great pizza!! Casual, and reasonably priced. We've tried all the GF pizza around and this is by far the best! Finally a pizza that IS NOT greasy :) We ordered pizza, salad and beer....and they were so nice to bring free GF chocolate chip cookies at the end. Top notch!
