Our waitress, Alexa, really knew her stuff about what was gf and how to avoid cross contamination. They pan fry some things in separate oil to keep it safe. Anything that is deep fried, though, will probably get contaminated. The food was presented nicely and tasted really good. We will return. This was a great experience.
Absolutely amazing. I'm from Dallas TX and worried I might not find many places that are safe. This restaurant went out of their way to accommodate me. I ordered an small plate of the steak and mushrooms. Philly roll, veggie roll and kids chicken teriyaki plate. I wish I had taken pictures of the food. All the food that was GF was labeled with an allergen sticker. Sooo good. I might go back instead of looking for other safe places π
I really appreciate this place! I went to eat there once and did not disclose yet that I have celiac. When I told him it was after my friends ordered edamame and when I reached for it the waiter blocked me and said he couldn't guarantee there wasn't cross contamination. I honestly thought that was so kind that he was so cautious.
I love it here. They are very knowledgeable about gluten and even asked if I wanted gluten free soy sauce with my rolls (I don't eat it with soy sauce/Tamari though). I am not sure if I react to cc but they brought my food and gave it to me first so it didn't get contaminated and I had the blueberry lemon gf cheesecake and it was AMAZING! Apparently the cheesecakes are always gf (it's not special order or anything)
Have a specific gluten free menu with many sushi rolls, gluten free desserts, and gluten free sauces including soy, teriyaki, ponzu, and spicy mayo for sushi rolls. Last three of the five times I have eaten there have had a reaction - I think from cross-contamination. Not as careful as they were previously with Marcus as the manager. I have had to sit at the sushi bar and ask them to sanitize prior to making rolls. Some sushi chefs act bothered by the request and others have ignored it making excuses for why they don't need to do it. Not eating there as often now and only sushi from a couple chefs I know will do it right.
Decent food however I ordered takeout from the GF menu and was given gluten containing soy sauce. Didn't discover it until I got home. Disappointing.
This is a fantastic restaurant! It has been a long time since I could hsve sushi and feel safe about what I was getting. We had a California and Spider rolls that were better than most of what I've had before discovering I was a Celiac. For my meal I had the teriyaki sirloin steak that wad cooked perfectly. Great overall meal. Nice GF menu. PLUS their cheese cake is also GF. What a delight! We shared a chocolate buttercream cheese cake that was fantastic! I highly recommend Tsunami.
They have a special gluten free menu to list all of the foods that are gluten free. Much to my surprise, chicken is not on this menu. Either way they offer a gluten free teriyaki sauce and it is awesome! I would definitely go here again. It's nice to know there is a place I can go that will take care of me.
Glutened, really bad
I have no idea what it was. I had 2 rolls—can’t remember which—with (allegedly) gluten free soy sauce; the teriyaki skewers; miso soup; and a brownie dessert. All of this was supposed to be gf, and the waitress assured me it was. But it was the worst I’ve been glutened since diagnosis 4 years ago
It seems like there are a lot of options for celiacs, and our waitress seemed knowledgeable. Maybe a chef made a mistake. Based on other reviews, maybe this doesn’t happen often, but….. ¯\_(γ)_/¯ buyer beware
Writing this after the fact—I was there about 2 weeks ago
The food was not bad in the moment
I usually order the gf miso, gf edamame, gf negima or gf salmon skewers, and the gf Jenny roll. Tried their gf key lime pie (I think it was a special) and loved it!! I miss their gf mini cheesecakes. I go here every year for my birthday because it’s my favorite place with the best gf menu.
