All the Maddio's I've been to have had great GF crust! And they always ask if it's just a preference, or health reasons.
I really wanted to love this place. We took our kids in while visiting Atlanta. It was awesome that they had gluten free kid sizes. However, the gentleman who was preparing our pizza left much to be desired. He didn't seem at all consistent in the proportions he used from pizza to pizza. It seemed like he used the same amount of toppings on the extra-large pizza as he did on the small pizza. The sauce was spread on really un-evenly (there wasn't even really a layer of sauce on 40% of it), and when our pizzas came out they were so lumpy in spots that those spots were burned black & crisp. The people working didn't seem interested in their customers either. The un-burnt crust itself was good, and the guy did ask if gluten free was allergy or preference. When I told him it was allergy for me he changed his gloves. Maybe they just had an off-day for us.
I love that they have a kids GF pizza. My daughter loved it and so did I (I got my own with more toppings than just cheese!)
Huge fan of Maddio's! I prefer the GF crust over regular. I ordered it consistently before I even knew I needed to be GF. You should take care with some toppings, but staff is friendly & well trained. New gloves & clean pans every time.
Love this place. They are the friendliest people ever. Always act happy to see me, change their gloves the minute I walk in. It's so nice not to feel like a burden for my special dietary needs!!
GF pizza was awesome! Super crispy crust and tasty toppings. Lots of good cheese!
If you like thin crust pizza then you will definitely like Maddios GF pizza crust. It was very thin and tastes like normal pizza. I found that it was difficult to cut with the dull knives in the dining room so I had to pick it up. Not my favorite, but I'm weird like that. I would definitely eat it again!
BEST PIZZA!!! My daughter is Celiac and they have fresh GF dough as a choice---as anyone with this problem knows it is VERY hard to find good tasting pizza---THEY HAVE HIT A HOMERUN!!!!! THANK YOU UNCLE MADDIO'S!!!!
Great gf pizza crust. I like thin crust so I enjoyed their crust!
They had gluten free crust that was awesome! They changed gloves when making it. I will note that they didn’t pull ingredients from a separate area so I would caution if you are celiac due to cross contamination. Overall, we were very happy with this restaurant!
They use the same Pizza Peel to get the GF crust out of the oven as all of the other pizzas, and use the same cutter to slice the pizza as all of the others. Do unfortunately if you are very allergic to wheat/gluten or have Celiac, this may be risky.
My son and I are both GF. They let me read the label for the GF flour they use for the crust and it fit our restrictions. Great pepperoni pizza!
Okay, St Pete, let's keep this place around! Delicious pizza, incredible topping choices, extensive sauce options. This is the first time I've not missed regular pizza! They are very careful with prep in a separate area and the two individual GF pizzas we got were amazing. Give them lots of business so they never leave us!
Best pizza I've had since going gluten free! Clearly labeled menu so I could easily tell which toppings were safe. Once I told them I had an allergy they prepped it in a completely different section, did gloves changes and unlike the previous post said.. they did have all the toppings separated. They actually opened a brand new package of prosciutto for me too. I'm one happy camper!
It's nice to have a place that we can go to with friends or family where everyone can order their own individual pizzas..... and that my kids with celiac can NOT feel any different! Pizzas are good.... have nice variety of toppings! My kids haven't gotten sick here.... yet..... but BIG chance for cross contamination.
This place is great!! I have celiac disease and went to USC. Having Maddios across the street from my dorm was my saving grace (I got gluten the 3rd day I was in college from the dining hall!). They are very knowledgeable and incredibly safe. There's a lot of transparency because you can watch them make it. I'm extremely sensitive and this is one of the only pizza places I still trust!
Absolutely delicious! I'm from out of state and it's hard to find gluten free options at times - great find!!
We have been happy Maddio's customers for several years. They take great care when you let them know you have an allergy. But lately it seems more like you have to keep an eye on them, and this varies employee to employee. My son has Celiac. Recently, I was offered a free cookie because my online pizza order was overlooked. I asked about their cookies, my recollection being that none of them were gluten free. "Yes - all of our cookies are gluten free", this employee told me. I took the order home & before I gave my son the cookie & tested it in our Nima device. NOT gluten free. I went back to the store later & the manager confirmed that no, none of the cookies are gluten free. So you still have to be careful.
Celiac here! I was eating here with a colleague and I requested the gluten free crust and my colleague got a regular crust. The employee behind the counter said he was going to prep mine first to avoid CC as much as possible and immediately changed his gloves. He prepped my pizza on a newly sanitized tray rather than directly on the counter and used "allergy" toppings, which are kept under the counter in sealed containers so that flour particles don't get in them. The pizza was also baked on a separate tray. As an added benefit, this was easily the best gluten free pizza I've ever had - and I've tried them all! 10/10 highly recommend.- just wish there were one closer to home!
The pizza was excellent and the staff was incredibly attentive to GF needs. They even took the trouble to come outside and save us from paying for parking meters on a weekend afternoon (nothing to do with gluten, but a great indication of caring for customers as people--kudos for that). Separate GF stores of toppings for the pizza too.
Gluten Free Pizza is pretty good
Perfect for Celiacs who want pizza. They ask if it's for an allergy or choice!! Separate sauce which is located behind the other sauce so no dripping and cross contamination. They clean the counter and put on fresh gloves. They pull your topping choices from new containers in the cooler. They use separate utensils and I have never had cross contamination or been sick!!
Truly exceptional. This is one of the few pizza places I've felt comfortable eating. They are meticulous with handling your pizza. They ask you if you have an allergy, if so they wipe the work space clean, change their gloves and use separate ingredients. They also clean their cutting utensils. Your pizza never touches the oven surface. Pizza is crispy and good. Five stars.
Always my go-to for a quick meal and always very good. They also have vegan cheese for people who are lactose intolerant.
