We visited Bournemouth and had lunch at Urban garden on saturday 29th April, on arrival we notified staff that one of us was Celiac (Coeliac/Gluten free) and required gluten free food.
We were assured that the food would be safe for a Celiac person
My partner and I ordered the same menu item (Beef burger) but hers was adjusted to be gluten free.
The bun on her burger was gluten free which reassured us but around 1 hour after eating she became very unwell and started vomiting, she hadn't eaten anything else in the time surrounding the meal so the gluten intoxication came from that meal.
She is also T1 diabetic which meant that her blood sugar levels started to drop dangerously low, and as she wasn't able to keep any sugar or water down we ended up having to spend around 7 hours in Bournemouth A&E.
My partner has not felt well since the experience and the gluten intoxication has led to further complications such as Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease which she is having to take medication for now.
