11/29/24. I just stopped by. They said they don’t have any GF buns. I didn’t ask about anything else.
They discontinued their gluten free bun, and the fries are coated and fried in the same fryer. So a plain burger or salad are your options here. There are tater tots but it’s fried in the same fryer as the other gluten items. No longer a good option for celiacs in my opinion.
My airport go to!! They were out of the gluten free bun when I was there but I got the Jenny’s salad and fries (separate safe fryer). It was delicious and the chef came out to talk to me about my allergy. She also said another waitress who works there has celiac and always eats this so I felt super safe.
I got the 'our burger'. Gluten free bun is a no extra cost which is nice for a change but, can't get fries however. The burger is ordinary, but for airport food at its 13$ price tag, it's ok. They use the same grill to cook their non gluten free items, but i was lucky enough that they had not used it that day yet after cleaning as I ate there early. I did not get sick. The waitress took the time to go ask the cook and answer my questions.
I was a little nervous about eating here but it was totally fine! I got a burger on a gluten free bun (which she said they put on the grill but that nothing with gluten goes on the grill). She did recommend that I not do any sauces so I just did mayonnaise and mustard. I couldn’t do the fries because it’s a shared fryer but there was a snack stand right outside the restaurant where I bought a bag of potato chips to eat with my burger. I didn’t get sick from the burger and was thankful for an actual meal at the airport.
I am not generally a hamburger fan but the BBQ Bacon burger (without the BBQ sauce as it contains gluten) on a GF bun was amazing. Probably the best GF bun I have ever tasted. Staff was also knowledgeable and the manager came out to speak to me as soon as I told the cashier that I had Celiac Disease.
They do serve gluten free buns... but they obviously don’t have a gluten free designated toaster since my bun was not toasted. Restaurants serving gluten free buns should know that they need to toast gluten free buns to avoid the bun crumbling. Also cheddar cheese is fake and the burgers aren’t even good
Gluten free buns for any burger, but you should ask to see if sauces are GF. BBQ sauce comes to mind. No dedicated fryer.
We were ordering from the takeout part of Wahlburger's at Pearson. The posted menu said "Ask about our gluten-free options" so I did. She just directed me back to that part of the menu (where some extra toppings that may or may not be gluten free were also listed). She seemed to have a very limited understanding of what I was asking about. We decided to go elsewhere. Perhaps we would have had a better experience in the sit down part of the restaurant
I was starting to feel like I wasn't going to find anything to eat in the Pearson airport. Found Wahlburger. My server was very knowledgeable about GF options on menu. Unfortunately since the place uses the same fryer for onion rings and fries wasn't able to try the fries.
I had such an amazing experience at the Toronto airport Whalburgers. Not only can I get pretty much anything on the menu, but it was amazing! The buns were 75% better than the normal dry Udi's option.I am also allergic to nuts and sesame and found that they have none onsite. I had one of their standard burgers and the fries. It was all amazing!
We went there for breakfast. I’m gf, df, and egg free making selection more limited. I went w açaí bowl and asked for df. I had waiter confirm again when food came. I ate it but found out later it wasn’t df. That makes me question the integrity and knowledge of staff. It may be a better lunch and dinner option to visit.
