It was amazing, completely safe with precautionary signs on the door stating no outside food or drink can be brought in for they are fully gluten free environment, incredible food and service, highly recommended, a big sitting area close to Ruston way waterfront (We asked if the oats were certified gluten free and the worker confirmed they were)
Might be gluten free but would not recommend. They do not list all allergens or ingredients on the items online. Or in store. Most things are made of nuts and have oats. I do not feel safe consuming there items. If you are someone that does not have additional allergies place would be fine.
Wren's Nest Baking Co. is an exclusively gluten-free bakery serving the greater Tacoma area. We have a wide range of delicious baked food including breads, cakes, cookies, muffins, hand-pies, kolaches, and much more. Our goal is for everyone to be able to enjoy our delicious baked foods, whether they have a gluten-free diet or not. Because we are exclusively gluten-free, our facilities are a dedicated gluten-free space, meaning that there is no danger of cross-contamination for our baked foods. We are very excited for the gluten-free community in our area to have a place that they can feel completely safe eating and drinking everything that is served.
Omg if there's any place you have to try it's this. The biggest and best gluten free scone I've ever had. Savory breakfast was amazing and loved the chocolate peanut butter cake. I wish I got more when I was in the city!!! I'll definitely be going back someday when I can! 10/10. The only thing is we waited over 30 minutes in line because it was so busy. Saturday at like 10am. But it was still worth it!
SO so good!! We stopped in while passing through Tacoma and I am so glad we did!
They have an assortment of savory and sweet items. We picked up a bunch of different things, but so far my favorites are the soft pretzel, the cheesecake, the banana pudding tart and the carrot cake.
Also, amazing ambiance!! They have a gorgeous, historic looking set up to stay and eat your pastries and have a coffee! I cannot wait to come back to this gem!!
Such good gluten free food, as someone with celiac disease this place is heaven. The only thing is I ordered $100 worth of food and didn’t receive what I ordered, I called and everyone was polite but they put the blame on me when I know what I said (I just accepted what they said because I don’t like playing the he said/ she said game). They said they wouldn’t fix the mistake, so that was frustrating because it was an expensive order but overall genuinely kind people and great food, they were just following what their manager told them. So just make sure you get what you asked for because unfortunately they won’t fix it.
I love this bakery! It’s dedicated gluten free and yet I can’t tell, it’s so good. I must have the lemon bar on each visit. The breads are delicious and yummy coffee! Pretzel bites, cinnamon rolls and pound cake. Savory bites as well. Quiche, hand pies and kolaches. If that’s not enough it is such a cozy vibe. Sit by the fire or in a nook with friends. I plan to eventually try one of everything!
Always an amazing experience. It’s dedicated gluten free, but you wouldn’t know it.
This place is absolutely amazing. We are from the east coast and I am celiac. We went on their anniversary day and I got a carrot cake muffin, a lemon blueberry scone, an apple crumb cake, and several other pastries. They ALL BEYOND BELIEF THAT THEY WERE GLUTEN FREE. Absolutely one of the best places I've ever had gluten free items. It just stinks that I am 3000 miles away and only can go there once every 2 years when I visit my daughter. Will be back for sure
Mostly I'm thrilled to have a gf bakery I don't have to travel to Seattle for. I've been a handful of times and haven't had anything yet that wasn't good. That being said, the prices are pretty steep even for gluten free, they don't do pre-orders so you just have to hope they have what you want when you're able to get there, and last time we got a loaf of sourdough it was very obviously at least a day old, maybe more. Maybe for some people that isn't a big deal but for the price, it would be nice to have fresh items.
So delicious! Everything tasted fantastic, great texture. Probably one of the best gluten free bakery’s I’ve had and I’ve been to lots! Got the sourdough- very expensive- but I know how much work sourdough can be so I understand why. Very delicious along with the kolaches and cheesecake!
LOVE this place. I was so happy to find a place with large gf soft pretzels! Their pastries are delicious and flaky—I’m so impressed that they actually managed to get lamination! Overall, everything I’ve had there has been delicious. This is one of those places that’s not “good for gf”, it’s just good.
What an amazing bakery. We visited in July while traveling. Everything we ordered was delicious. Our group had a couple of kolaches, carrot cake and coffee. The best part was eating up on the roof. The roof had just opened when we visited. They plan for the roof area to be by reservation only so definitely call ahead. It’s beautiful and looks over the Sound.
A delicious dedicated GF bakery! We were traveling through Tacoma and found this gem. Located in a gorgeous building, everything is fresh and delicious.
Everything we tried was amazing, both savory and sweet pastries. My favorite at the moment is the pound cake, which was insanely good and not overly sweet. The GF breads are in the top 3 that I’ve had ever, which are super fluffy and taste so similar to gluten.
The only downfall is this place isn’t closer to our house. I cannot wait to try again when we visit the area!
Best gluten free bread I’ve ever had. We got the kalamata loaf and the molasses nut bread and it was crusty and moist without being gummy and lasted for days. We came late, so they were sold out of most things, but we got what they had. Recommend coming early. In a super cute neighborhood and building
Delicious food and friendly staff. All options are GF and multiple dairy-free options as well. I’ve tried 4 things so far and all have been great! I took my mom here- I could tell she was supportive but feeling hesitant about a GF lunch (very recent change for me). She was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.
I think that I will dream about their peach cardamom muffins for months to come. I wish we lived nearby because everything was excellent. We tried cheesecake, muffins, cookies, and a macron. The muffin was the standout, but that’s because it’s the hardest to do truly well.
